Are they all over the comments in your hubs? Are you deleting them? I had one in a link I had and how can you correct those? It is like correcting a quote isn't it? What is this all about? We can't stop it can we?

I  got one on a comment on one of my hubs. What's to be done about them.
They're kinda cool to have around but how do we turn off in the comments made by others.

    Hi Jackie,

Yes, they are all over the place.  Mine are in comments so far that I've check.  I am trying to figure out if we are supposed to do anything or not, as it states that it corrected it and if we want to see what it corrected to click on it.  So, I am thinking it is done and we don't have to do anything, but are the editbots going to remain on our statistics page?  Plus, do we have to click hide corrections on the top of the hub so everyone will not see them when they are looking at the hubs?  Maybe someone in the know can come on here and answer, hopefully.  I did not see a memo or anything about it, but I could have missed it.

They are so ugly though aren't they? I don't want to see them; I would rather just delete the comment!

This is real irritating.  Someone is trying to be clever.  I have so many of these irritating icons and all of them so far I noticed were on comments made by others.  This is ridiculous.  I tried deleting them but the icon still there.  Imagine I have hundreds of comments for many of my hubs, and they tried to correct their grammar/spelling.  This is a real pain.  Very irrelevant and time-wasting exercise.  Two Thumbs DOWN !!

Don't delete the comments as the misspelled words have been corrected the Orange highlights only show up to you if you happen to want to see what was corrected. Others can't see the Orange on your comments or hubs. It is only there if you happen to want to see what was corrected. I have hundreds of comments on each hub usually and I am certainly not going to delete any, plus they have been corrected so why delete them? Comments mean a lot to me. The corrections are only visible to you.

Don't you just hate the looks of all those bots on the accounts page! I could scream.

Yes, they are distracting, but no one else can see them, and they are correcting misspelled words.  Maybe they will go away after a certain time period has elapsed, as the corrections are made, which is good.  I know I have to be more careful when commenting from my phone as it autocorrects to a word that I don't want and I don't notice it until after I comment, and then I have a hard time editing it to fix it before the time runs out LOL.

If you look on all of your hubs, just regular view, there is no orange highlight box showing, only if you want to check it out.  From my understanding, all of the errors in commenting and wherever do bring down the site as a whole and rank us lower in Google, so I don't mind them correcting bad spelling, but if there is something that I wanted to remain as I stated it, then we can uncheck it back to the way it was originally posted.

My statistics page is full of the bots LOL, but you and I receive so many comments is no wonder.  I haven't found any yet in my actual hubs, but I haven't bothered to go in and check everything and probably won't bother. If I do have a misspelled word in a hub, I do hope it corrects it!

That is the thing about it; why would mistakes in comments affect us? We have seen plenty above us in score with all kinds of errors in their hubs and it should affect them but not when it is not our error; it just seems you can't win. I was going to publish something more this weekend but now I just don't want to. I hate even looking at those bots; guess I am just mental over it but I cannot help it.

I don't understand why you are not going to publish because if I inadvertently make a mistake, I sure would want someone to point it out to me before it was up on my hub for too long of a time, so no big deal to me.  I am not understanding why is it such a big deal to you?  I don't think they are talking about individual scores, just the site ranking overall, as we can't edit what others write, so I think this helps that is all.  No need to stress out on something that cleans out the trash stuff and go mental over it LOL.  You don't even have to look at them if you don't want to, as they are not showing up on our hubs for all to see anyone, it just corrects what needs to be corrected is all without anyone else knowing, unless you just want to keep clicking on the views and see them.  If I were a hubber from the UK, as their English is a bit different from ours, I may be concerned as it will correct it to US English it seems, so that would be the only concern or in those hubs where we are using humor and write as someone who speaks using incorrect grammar, may present a problem.  Please publish : )

I wouldn't say I am stressing out and it is not upsetting me anymore than others here I don't suppose; but when I go to my accounts which I do often and see all those bot faces it is not the best of feelings and if you read others they feel the same way. It is just who we are I guess. I have plenty to do anyway and I don't write for money but for fun and when it is not fun I can stay away; very simple really. I avoid stress at all costs; believe me. I am not trying to make a big deal of it; just asking others what they think of it and most agree I see.

Yes, not worth any drama for sure as they are just correcting inadvertent typos.  Anytime when something is changed and we have to just stop and figure out what is going on, then realize it is no big thing for sure.  Plus, when something is changed it is a good time to ask a question for everyone's opinion and maybe get bumped up a point or two in the meantime.  They should disappear after we check our hubs; I would think after a spell.  Every hub I have has them on it LOL, well except for about 11 hubs, and in comments, being I am blessed with a lot of comments into the hundreds at times, so it is understandable. They are not being seen by anyone anyway so nothing to worry about for sure.  Since you are down on the number of your hubs, it shouldn't be too bad to hid corrections on all of your hubs.  Writing is a joy and this shouldn't steal one's joy about writing here, hopefully.  I hope you will be publishing more of your poetry as that brings you much joy.  Hugs

I clicked on the link that relache posted to see what they're all about, then I went to my My Account/Statistics page and found some bot icons.  According to what's on the link, the edits are supposed to be highlighted in orange.  I didn't see any highlights in the hubs that had editbots on them, either in the hub itself or the comment stream.  So I have no idea what they think they're accomplishing.

Bob, you have to click on show edits in the box at the top of your hub. So that tells me the edits they made do not show up to others in the Orange highlights but only to you if you want to see what was corrected. Hi Jackie, walking away from what ...the forum or HP?  No need for that!

I had five yesterday, woke up this morning to what looks like editbot measles all over my stat page. I've decided not to let it worry me, too busy. I'm not even going to open all of them to look and see what it is; it's mostly comments anyway. I do have a question for some of you: What is the good in deleting the comments that have been corrected? Does it really matter?

    1. Jackie Lynnley profile image84
Jackie Lynnleyposted 8 years agoin reply to this

Apparently not except it will say no errors corrected if the comment is deleted.

Don't delete the comment as the misspelled words were corrected and the Orange corrections don't show up on your hubs to others.

Isn't it a better idea to make comments in the official thread?

I just don't get this. First they took away the thumbs up option to reward a good hub, leaving comments the only way to let anyone know the hub was appreciated. Now comments (and those of us who can spell) are under attack. Robotic one-size-fits-all methods seem to punish more people than they reward.

I can see going into hubs for I see many, many errors there that seem to have no bearing on these hubbers scores so it is about time; but why should we be held accountable for comments? What does that really matter?

We all have them and to me it is not big deal...it would be a big deal to me if all the world saw them and most of mine were in comments which is kind of funny...I guess the bots cannot differentiate between the article and the comments.
Jackie I enjoy your writings so much..please continue to be a part of this community  big_smile

Angels are headed your way right now and I hope no bots stop them big_smile  ps

Yes, they are not a big deal to me either, especially being they are not changing our writing around, but simply correcting inadvertent typos mostly in comments that no one sees anyway.  So, no need to fret, Jackie.  On another note, I see where I need to slow down in my commenting ...

Gee I am not leaving! Did I say that? I just mean I won't waste my time trying to figure it all out until they tell us what is going on; which they will eventually. I mean to when they are going to remove those ugly buggers from our page! lol (Oh what I said to Bob was reference to something said another time in another question, just kidding!)
