Here it is July 29 and for all intents and purposes, vacation time should be or should have ended days ago and as an editor at HP told me, people vacationing is the major reason for not many comments on my hubs that I have published.
If you haven't guessed. I am a lousy waiter.
    Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if vacation time is the reason for less people reading and commenting, but that's only from my memory of a time when I worked outside the home and we weren't supposed to be on the internet reading and commenting during work hours, meaning that during vacation I'd actually have more time to read interesting articles.  That said, if that is the reason then you should also check how many of your readers are in the US and how many are in other countries because vacation time in many other countries is different to what you are used to in the USA.

Do you want traffic or do you want comments?

If you want traffic, then you need to learn about SEO and choose subjects that are searchable.

If you want comments, then you need to go and comment on other people's Hubs and interact with other Hubbers.

It could be your subject matter, Kenneth, to reiterate what Marisa brings up in her comment.

I've spent a lot of time here on Hubpages.com. I've spent years away from the internet entirely too - but insofar as getting comments to things here goes, that's a social activity.

I do not write for social interactions here. But your post makes it seem as though you do. So, when I was looking for social interactions here I knew I'd get as good as I gave. And I did. So in order to get comments you need to comment the things you like that other persons have done here. And also, be active in these forums.

Those things will win you the friends who'll comment your work. You just have to give to get. Anyway, best of luck to you.

Kenneth, as others have said if you want comments you have to read and comment on other people's hubs and usually, they will reciprocate. I am following over 500 people and have over 600 followers myself. I can't read everybody's posts, but if they read one of my hubs I always read one of theirs in return.

John, something that puzzles me is that I get feeds from the same bunch of 5 to 10 people every day. I know that other people I'm following (good interesting writers) are publishing hubs, yet I have to wonder if Writer A has published any hubs lately and go to her profile page to see. Maybe Writer X has published for six months, and he hasn't been in any of my feeds. One person who is a mutual follower of mine says that she doesn't see me included in her feeds. We have to periodically check each other. I check the feeds so I can read and comment on hubs each day. Are they only sending out notifications on the last 5 or 10 writers that I've visited?

Maybe I should pose this in a question myself, but I don't have time to keep a discussion going. That's why I don't start questions or forums. But could this be part of Ken's problem?

I am not sure, MizB, but you may have a point. I seem to get notified of hubs by a lot more than that, so much so that I have to pick and choose which ones I read, and also check the feed in case some are missed. I have had some people tell me they weren't notified of a new hub by me. Maybe that is Kenneth's problem. It could also be the huge volume of hubs he writes (over 1200+).
His followers can't read them all.

MizBejappers and Jodah: Do you think that my materials are not good enough for people to read? I change my materials up every so often from a comical how-to or maybe a dramatic poem . . .always giving the reader a choice and variety.

Yeah, traffic had been truckin' along at a decent pace for me over the past couple of weeks but then this week things seem to have hit the proverbial brick wall.

Kenneth, it may be your subject matter. I find that my "funnies" only last for a short period and then get shelved, despite the fact that I wrote them green. But on the other hand, there are some comedians on this website whose work goes on and on. After awhile I check the "unfollow" box on that particular hub. I don't unfollow the writer because I like to read their new stuff.

Kenneth, I find the quality of your hubs excellent. Your comedy hubs are always a laugh and your poetry is of amazing standard. Unfortunately I don't have the time or ability to read everything you write.

Jodah, my good friend and follower, thank you from my heart for your warm and positive comment. I am mainly just "shooting in the dark," for answers as to why "some" hubbers I have read on HP who always get, if I can say this, Too Many comments.
I admit it. I work on my research on each topic, even the humor aspect and still, I have not reached your level of traffic, but I am thankful. I really am, for the people who DO comment on my offerings.
Thanks for being such a great friend.
