Has Trump created a New Normal?

Donald Trump lies almost every time he opens his mouth and then denies that he lied.  He attacks anybody who disagrees with him by using slander, insults, and downright civil abuse.  In rallies, he encourages his supporters to do the same thing.  My concern is that he has been doing this for so time now, and that the public is getting used to it and it is becoming the new normal for treating people.  Especially for those who support trump, they are willing to overlook his lack of civility because nothing can be worse than Hillary Clinton.  Are you willing to overlook his bullying and nastiness because of the accusations that have been leveled against Hillary?

"Are you willing to overlook his bullying and nastiness because of the accusations that have been leveled against Hillary?"

About as willing as you are to overlook Clinton's acknowledged attitude that she is not subject to the law of the land and the proven disregard for the security of the nation.

When you've decided that those things really are important in our commander-in-chief, then you have a right to degrade others for accepting that Trump is doing the same thing that has been done for decades and the same thing that is being done to him.

There has been an evolution over time.  Romance went from "The evening breeze caress the trees tenderly." to "Tap that xzz." Sex has been taken to the nth degree on television with explicit curse words.  Donald Trump has moved along in the evolution participating to the fullest.  All freedom is not necessarily good.

Donald Trump, like the evolution of morals and character, acts and speaks with no abandon.

Trump says what he thinks and, honestly, I've seen the left attempt to run with interpretations of what he said which appear to be way off base. I've also seen him back pedal fast and attempt to say he didn't mean what we thought he said. I guess I like that better than dirty backroom deals that stab others in the back. And then, deny you had anything to do with it.

      Live to Learn,
So you have no issue with lying, only with the way the lie is delivered . . .

I don't think you realized Trump was/is lying to you, since you say he says what he thinks honestly.  Now you seem to be trying to crawdad, looking for a way to gracefully wipe the egg off your face because Trump suckered you in.

Fact checkers have determined Trump lies on average every 3-4 minutes.  Just put the following words in the Google search box and see what you get from a dozen different sources:  Trump lies on average every 3 minutes.

Not only is Trump a first class liar, but he manages to squeeze them all in between fleecing contractors, customers, taxpayers, his employees, and people in general.  You could say he's a multi-tasker.  He lies and cheats and steals all at the same time, seamlessly.

And you really believe Republicans rarely or never make "dirty backroom deals."  ??  They've been stabbing Hillary in the back for decades, and not secretly either.  And you gobble it up along with Trump's lies.

Hillary has been exonerated by investigation after investigation, all conducted by Republicans, but you refuse to accept the findings of the very people YOU elected and say are honest.  She hasn't done anything her Republican predecessors didn't do and no one had fits when they did the same things -- using a private email server as well as deleting emails.  The Shrub is proud to admit he deleted millions of emails.

I think a lot of people actually realize Trump is taking everyone he can for a ride, but they want to fit in with their circle of friends more than they want anything else, so they go along to get along in that regard.

Research has shown again and again that most people will do whatever it takes to fit in, even when it undermines their own best interests, and that the 'group' they consider so important that they will do anything to remain a member of, is wrong.

Some people who were initially taken in by Trump have seen the light and have reversed course where he is concerned, but there are always those people who can't admit they were wrong, and stubbornly persist even though they know they are sinking.

        roll

This is apparently the first post of mine in the political forums you have read. I don't particularly like the fact that any of them lie, but that appears to be the norm for politicians. The point of my comment was that at least we see his immediately. Hillary's? Well, we just have to wait until someone ferrets it out and splashes it on the internet.

I'm not crawdadding (whatever that is). Trump didn't sucker me in. .I am not a Trump fan. I simply find Hillary the least qualified person on the face of the earth to represent our nation.

You say Trump has fleeced contractors, customers, taxpayers, his employees, and people in general? Hillary has fleeced the American public by squandering tax dollars in pay to play schemes. She has squandered our national security by placing it on unsecured devices. She has squandered our faith in her morality by her lies to cover up for a philandering husband. The list goes on and on. I am probably older than you and I can tell you while my entire sub division were losing their homes due to the savings and loan crisis; Hillary and Bill were raking in the money because of it. I don't forget.

I didn't say Republicans didn't participate in politics as usual in Washington. I am tired of politics as usual in Washington and Hillary will continue the practices that have slowly disgusted us as a nation to the point that someone like Donald Trump actually has a chance at the white house. To me, that says a lot. Trump is a buffoon on many counts but he is still better than supporting the status quo by supporting a lying, cheating career politician.

And, so you know, Hillary was not exonerated. If you think she was then you obviously didn't listen to the FBI's statement. Basically, she is guilty but they chose not to prosecute.

Is Trump taking everyone for a ride? If so, how is that any different than what we have been experiencing from politicians for a very long time?

I suppose some people can't admit when they are wrong. I also think some people are so clueless that they don't understand why they are wrong, also.

I don't see Trump as the answer. Just one step away from the problem. Hillary is in bed with the problem.

You don't know what a crawdad is? I thought all southerners knew what they were. Some people call them crawfish or mudbugs, but regardless, they are little fresh-water "shrimplike" creatures that swim backwards real fast, especially when approached by another species. I'm not commenting on your comment, just telling you what a crawdad is. Sorry, couldn't resist.

I've heard of a crawdad. Although we call them crayfish. I've simply never heard the term crawdadding. I caught crayfish many times as a child. My recollection of their movements doesn't give me cause to understand what the term refers to.

I agree with you.  Trump does say what he thinks, but so do unruly little children.  Have you ever fact checked him?  He calls Miss Universe a fat pig. He started the Obama birther movement and never admitted it was a lie or apologized.  He says Obama and Hillary created ISIS, nothing could be further from the truth. Talk about backroom deals that stab others in the back and then deny it, he has done that his whole life.  Hillary is accused of Benghazi and emails, your guy lies every time he opens his mouth. Thanks for proving my point.  I guess you would rather overlook the childish behavior of Trump, because you think and have no proof of Benghazi and emails, just right wing propaganda.

If you were on a football team and you were going to play another team the following week and the coach broadcast to the world, that if your team loses, the game must be rigged, that is the childish thing that Trump does.  He whines like a spoiled child when he loses and says that people are not playing fair with him.  When he is always playing unfair with his opponents. Thanks for proving my point.

I've never 'blamed' Hillary for what happened in Benghazi. I've commented on her ineptitude during the crisis. Not the same thing.

Honestly, though, she has proven herself inept at every turn. I can see why inept would trump a buffoon in some people's eyes. I simply wonder why those who choose her can't admit it is still a very sucky choice.

You know, I once thought it was a sticky choice, but Trump has made it the easiest important choice I've made in a very long time.

I used to understand how intelligent people could hold their noses and choose him over Hillary. No more. He has made it easy by demonstrating on nearly a daily basis what a horrible human being he is.

I'll proudly vote for Hillary in November because I truly believe that voting for that overgrown toddler would be the stupidest, most catastrophic choice I could ever make.

Like I have said before, I almost wish he would become prresident, just so his supporters could see what it's like to have an overgrown toddler POTUS tweetstorming about Angeles Merkel's fat ass or Mother Theresa's ugly schnozz.

The US is already approaching laughingstock status by having Little Donnie as a serious candidate for president. Let's just go all the way!

LOL, it won't. Somehow, his 3 AM tweetstorms recommending Americans watch a porn movie aren't persuading huge numbers of people that he is capable of being president. Some people have minimum standards of conduct for a position of such great importance.

LOL, I saw that one coming a mile away. Can you name any of Trump's contemporaries who are recommending him for president? Someone who has been on the other end of one of his fabulous deals, perhaps? A partner in one of his tremendous business ventures that created many, many jobs? A fellow billionaire who can attest to his wonderful character (the best!), who would love to see him in the oval office?

As far as your title question goes, I can say Gawd, I hope not, but I'm afraid that is the new norm. Those of us who are old enough to remember real ladies and gentlemen and real civility mourn their passing. I'm afraid it is my generation's refusal to discipline our children because Dr. Spock told us not to in his book on child rearing that was the beginning of this manners fiasco. We oldsters have only ourselves to blame, and although Donald Trump, at 70, is one of us, he takes it as his cue to misbehave. At first I thought he was just a malignant narcissist, but now I believe that he may have a more serious mental disorder. Do we really want someone who may have a serious mental disorder in command of our nation? Like Hillary or not, she is not going to have an itchy trigger finger on the nuke button.

The Libertarian candidates have a good solid track record as governors, but during TV interviews they come across as Lum and Abner. I can't help but think that they are naive and even ignorant when it comes to international affairs. As one of them put it, he knows who the other world leaders are, but he couldn't think of any when asked. I understand that, but I also think we need a president who can think on his feet. As far as the Green candidate goes, Jill Stein does not advertise herself, so most of us know little about her. That doesn't make for a very good candidate in the political game either.

Like it or not, we are stuck with Trump and Hillary. I am another who will proudly vote for Hillary over Mr. No Manners.

Obama was both naive, arrogant and manipulative when he first ran.

          1.  Naive
He said the US was acting superior to other nations and getting involved in their affairs, etc.  He wanted to be buddies with everyone.  Donald Trump wants to be Russia's buddy.

          2.  Arrogant
He thought all he needed to do was be in office and every thing would work out.  As soon as he was in office he started blaming the other side of the aisle for not getting anythig done.  The other side of the aisle was there before he was born.  What made him think his being in office was all that was needed.

          3.  Manipulative
He sat in Saddleback Church and said he believes marriage is between a man and a woman.  Before his 2nd term Biden spoke out that everyone should be able to get married.  Then Obama came out and said the same thing.  Then April, 2016, Obama comes up with the bathroom edict.

It's not just him.  Everyone running lies about what their going to do.  It really doesn't matter that it might be impossible (rounding up Mexicans and sending them to Mexico).  The point is to get elected.

If Trump wins, all hell could break lose.  His panties get in a knot about the most ridiculous things.  It shows having money doesn't make you an intelligent person.  The 10 year carry forward on the net operating losses is the reason Trump doesn't want to show his tax return.  He doesn't PAY any!  He's a hypocrite.

I trust in God.  No matter which one becomes president, it is because God allows it.
