What Kind of Person Listens to and/or Watches InfoWars?

   I'm not going to characterize Alex Jones, the host of InfoWars, but I am wondering what kind of person uses InfoWars as a news source.
   
   As you may know, Alex Jones believes that there's a government conspiracy to feminize us through our drinking water. He's said that he doesn't care if the water turns frogs gay, but he is concerned about the feminization of our people.
   
   He also believes that the massacre at Sandy Hook was a government conspiracy and that it didn't happen.
   
   He also sells products on his program that finance it. Among them, a bottle of vitamin D that retails for $29.95 that you can buy at stores for about $3.
   
   What kind of people watch and support Alex Jones?

      People who are not interested in the truth but instead but are driven by ideologically rage. That is the nature of the beast 'the rightwinger'. There is no equivalent on the left that is as ugly or as extreme in its pretense to represent responsible journalism.

         To be fair, I still remember how the far left behaved back in the 1960s and '70s. The pendulum has simply swung in the other direction.

   Alex Jones is a complete nutter, and therefore I must assume that anyone who buys into his ridiculousness is also at least a bit of a nutter themselves.

      Is it fair to say that if you watch and follow Alex Jones, you are a moron? Or just easily duped?
      
      Jones also uses a guy he tries to pass off as a doctor to promote his supplements, but that guy isn't a doctor and doesn't have any significant degrees from anywhere even though he tries to make it seem like he's from MIT.
      
      Basically, the show is just trying to take advantage of the people who watch it.

         ahorseback can get himself into a bit of a lather and pick fights. Shame if he was banned. I have probably learned more from him than anyone else in these forums as I struggle to understand the peculiarities of  right wing Americans. And why our civilization is obliged to implode.

   I am really curious about the answer to my question.
   
   Is it really as simple as "anybody who watches/listens" to InfoWars is a moron? It can't be, yet it's clear that the show panders to it's audience and cheats them at the same time. How can the people who watch it not realize that?
   
   It's way too easy to write these people off as idiots, but how do you reach out to and communicate with somebody who watches this stuff and believes it?

      I wish I had the answer.  Even the smartest people will buy into fallacies and ignore truth to bolster their own ideological views.  However, some extremes are so obvious that one cannot help but wonder if the person buying into it is just plain stupid.  But, like you say, it isn't that simple.
      
      I'm stumped.

   For many people, every day is a war. Some are fighting anxiety, some addiction, some are desperately trying to keep rage at bay, others fear of death. Then there are all those phobias...
   
   The list is endless.
   
   Canny publishers and politicians can intuitively exploit paranoia and hatreds that have nothing to do with the here and now but go back to episodes that the victim has forgotten (or refuses to remember).
   
   Infowars appeals to anyone with a Manichean world view (good vs evil) who needs to attack/defend as a way of life (or defense against the terrors life).
