   What if God is real?
   
   What if you live your whole life helping others and doing good? Bringing joy and happiness to those less fortunate. What have you lost?
   On the other hand what if you live you whole life for your own purposes, never helping anyone, spending everything you have and are on things you can not take with you when you leave this earth? And then . . .  find out that God is real?
   
   There are no unbelivers down there!  Just what if?

   The what if senario can only be played out after your dead, can it be realized.
   
   So, I would have to say, since I am dead, there's no reason to worry about anything else.

   God is real. Unfortunately for those who don't believe in the only begotten Son of the Father, Jesus Christ, and His finished work on the cross, there will not be any second chance once they have taken their last breath.  It is appointed unto man to die once, then the Judgement.

   What if you live a life devoted to your god, praying, sacrificing and punishing infidels and then found out that the scientologists were right? what if they found out the Jews were right, or what if the Buddhists got it right, or the Mormons, or the Catholics or  the great purple octopus? What if the best you could do is to try and leave this earth a tiny bit better than you found it and not obsess about what happens when you are gone?

   Those who don't believe in God are guilty of rejecting God, for whether or not they have heard about Him, they know about Him instinctively, per the Word of God.  There will be "no excuse" when they stand before the throne:
   
   Matthew 12:30 "He who is not with Me is against Me."
   
   John 15:22 "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin."
   
   Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse."
   
   Revelation 12:20 & 30 "And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds...And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

   This question is little more than a very thinly veiled Pascal's Wager. The key mistake you are making is that you are assuming that there is only one possible God. I could ask you the same question: what if you face the FSM when you die? What would you say if you died and faced Odin, Thor, Vishnu, or Ra? Also, if someone worships a god only because they are hedging their bets, then who is to say that the god won't see through that and then punish them?

   One thing for sure, God is real. It doesn't matter what religion you are holding, it is always lead to good things. When people realize there is a God, they will hold to one religion. Religion will always wanted us to do good things in life such as respect the elders, don't hold grudge with anyone, helping other people, caring your family and so on. Life has one purpose and that purpose is to serve a God.

    I find it amusing that the theist always assumes that only god fearing people perform acts of charity and kindness. The Atheist performs such deeds out of compassion, not out of fear of damnation. Such stated bias and prejudice serves the theist in a most negative way. In writing this response; it occured to me that this god, as defined by his followers, is all knowing and therefore knew, prior to creating a selfish person, that the person would not be charitable. Do you not find such musings a form of mental masterbation?

    I don't think that this is a legitimate question, since I don't believe in god. Unlike some atheists I was once a christian myself with my own ministry and everything. After years of research for my own personal gain I have come to the conclusion that god is a creation of the fertile imagination of man.
    
    A person can live a full and productive life without god and be just as compassionate towards his fellow man as christians claim to be. Morals in my opinion do not come from god they are come from the culture and society in which we are bred and born.

    What if you lived your life conning other people into giving you stuff (money) and spending all their time doing things for you (like work - fighting wars etc) instead of looking out for their own interests. (Like Rockefeller said, 'Nobody got rich working for a living'.)
    
    In order to put one over on people in this manner all you need do is have them believe that you are in a position to put in a good word for them with the fictional guy upstairs and interpret - for them - the words of this fictional guy (which means you can make it all up as you go along).
    
    Sounds real peachy doesn't it.
    
    If you could manage all this then you wouldn't be bothered about going to heaven when you die because you'd be living the life of Riley right down here amongst all the morons that make it it all possible.
    
    If only them atheist spoilsports would just keep their goddam traps shut.

    God isn't real in any proveable sense, although the delusion is pretty prolific.
    
    As to Pascal's hackeyed wager, do you really think that if there was a God and you died and tried this gambit, the great omnipotent couldn't see that you were basically taking a cowardly gamble? Would he/she/it not then throw you into the fire?
    
    Paradoxically, a free thinker with deeply held convictions (call him/her an atheist/agnostic, whatever) would be able to look the creator in the face and say,
    
    "I would have been up for believing in you on earth, but why did you give me so little evidence? I simply used the brain you gave me to the best of my ability. After all, your supposed advocates would have had me believing in a flat earth! And there's so many different types who claim that they are your true followers yet condemn all other types who say the same.." etc etc etc yawn gottagotosleeeep.

    The fallacy of your question is in combining the belief in God with a desire to live a good life.  These two are quite mutually exclusive of one another.  While I'm not perfect, I strive to be an example of this.  I am atheist and I try to always do the right thing and help others. 
    So you ask, what if God is real?  Well, then I hope he judges me on my life.

    The question is not - God is real or not. Does believe in God helps us or not. The answer is yes. A country needs a President for betterment & lookout. A family needs a guardian for discipline. Similarly God is the guardian of everyone who believes in God and those who gets inspiration and mental strength in the activity of life. His real existence is immaterial just as the existence of a tree even though its root is invisible
