   There are a few ways.  Some that friends and I have tried:
   
   Note: obviously, the best thing to do is see the dentist and have it taken care of, however, most aren't open on Saturday, sooo:
   
   ibuprofin for swelling, tylenol targets tooth pain best in my experience. (I'm not a medical professional by any means, so please be aware of what you can and can't take)
   
   cloves on the infected area.
   you can find numbing medicines at the store
   a lot of people use strong liquor. (if they are of legal drinking age)
   
   I personally use pure mint or almond extract.  Let it set for a moment.  It numbs everything.  Do NOT swallow.  It will make you sick.  Also, it's about 90% alcohol, so you will fail any breath test.

   Use the tooth ache med you get over the counter which has Novocain or ladocaine in it. It will numb your tooth and mouth too if you use too much. Also, before that, try washing with peroxide solution right out of the bottle. Rinse your mouth with it to remove any debris in the tooth and kill germs. Then rinse with warm water to remove the foaming peroxide. Then put the numbing med on.
   
   Go see a dentist. If all else fails, go to the ER and get drugs.

   If you're not into taking meds or you can't get to a doctor right away, go into your kitchen or supermarket into the spice aisle and grab a bottle of cloves. When you suck on clove spice gently with your teeth it releases a substance that is very numbing. I do it a lot for sore throats. Try to keep the clove close to the tooth that is hurting you. Hope this helps!

   I agree with drbillfannin on the hydrogen peroxide bit. Dilute to (or buy) a 3% solution & rinse all around the mouth, then gargle it. This will kill any infection.
   As for immediate pain relief, I've not had toothache since using the hydrogen peroxide regularly, but rinsing out with mouthwash should do the trick right away, follow up with a couple of Nurofen.
