Not fulfilling my purpose on the earth which I was called to do and refused to do it out of my own free will. No problem there because I am fulfilling it totally against all obstacles to the glory of GOD. Keep on keeping on everybody because it ain't over till its over when you take your last breath upon the earth.

Sometimes just thinking of answering the phone can give me a feeling of dread if I've let relationships slip and slide.  When that happens, I find myself cringing when the phone rings because I feel like I have to explain or barter or adjust myself to the voice on the other side of the line.  Maybe if I change my thought to one of Welcome when a call comes, the surprise and possibility that it may offer, then I may start to feel joyful when the phone calls me.  I know it's a simple thing--feeling dread about phone calls--but it is the truth.  Writing this answer made me look into the possibility of another way of thinking.  Thank you for the question.

The only think I can think of, is before I moved someone had given my phone number out to people online in the US, posing as me, using my name, and requesting that they call 'me'.
It started out with one guy, calling and being really creepy, telling me things I supposedly said, and getting really vulgar. He called back to threaten me. He called every other week or so, to chant my name on the answering machine, trying to get me to pick up, and saying really really vulgar things. Then other guys started calling. I felt bad for one, because he sounded truly embarrassed.
I know who most likely did it, but in wanting to be done with crappy people in my life I just left it alone. I changed my number after awhile and only 7 people have it.

Whenever I think about the phone calls I had with him "larry" it makes my whole body tense up and I get a bad feeling in y stomach, and a feeling of dread at the thought of him ever getting my number again.

Knowing that those who have rejected God's plan for salvation (Christ's finished work on the cross), will spend eternity in a real place called Hell. We have been given a choice and a free will. Why not accept His free gift of redemption and spend eternity with the Creator of the Universe??

I dread the failing peace and order... the deterioration of mother earth and my son having to face them. This world is exposed to crimes, accidents and mother nature's wrath due to our own doings and it is a sad fact that men brought to himself all the odds he faces right now...
All we can hold on to, so we can stop dreading these things is to keep our faith and ask for the loving mercy of the ONE who loved us before our time.

I get a cold feeling of dread when I think of rejection or abandonment. I don't even fully understand it because I'm not afraid of being alone physically, I'm afraid that if someone rejects or abandons me that I'm a lesser person because of it. Somehow I take on the blame for it and feel like my value wasn't enough for them to stay in my life. I probably do it to myself too.

Wow... most of the answers to this question are... wrong or underwhelming. Lady Face seems to have a good one though if such a thing were real.

I don't think the idea of a "cold feeling of dread" is very well understood. I can't imagine any of these situations creating much dread at all. But that's probably because of the way society utilizes the word "dread" these days.

Cold feeling of dread is when you are stiffened to absolute, real terror, you get cold shakes and you enter a state of shock, hyperventilate, and lose your ability to function normally. It's difficult to get into that situation thinking about it; that mostly comes from imminent or realization to imminent danger. You know, that feeling you get when you walk into a battlefield, think about your loved ones and wonder if you'll ever see them again. Or if your death will be quick or agonizing, or if you'll die at all.

You don't get that from pet peeves or annoyances.

For me, its remembering when I was at work, so stressed out it nearly triggered a PTSD reaction as I was hallucinating. Mainly, its knowing that people are in danger every time they startle me. I almost hit someone at least once every two weeks for startling me.

I feel full of dread whenever I don't follow my Lords order and forget his power. That time I believe that I am sinful person but when I am connected to him I feel safe. The sin is something your heart doubt it and hate people to see you doing it.

I really dread anything to do with my ex-husband (same room, same breathing space, the divorce, etc...).  Then again you would too if you realized he was trying to harm you in very under handed ways.  Hurt feelings are one thing, but to do things to a person, and one realizes that your life is not worth squat to that person is terrifying.
I literally start shaking, loose sleep and ulitmately start to panic just with a simple thought of having to be in the same room with him.
