   Is there a special song that takes you back to a certain time in your life?
   
   Songs have a way of influencing our thoughts as they speak to our hearts. Is there a special song that every time you hear it, you feel the same as you did when you first heard it? Taking you back to certain memories and time?

   Oh so many songs carry me back.  I grew up at the beach so anything the Beach Boys did takes me back.  Do You Believe in Magic by the Lovin' Spoonful was popular when I was about 14.  I had my first crush on a boy and felt like a million bucks with the whole world out in front of me.  I hear that song now and a little of that feeling comes back.

   This is going to sound stupid... but I am going for (Beep Beep) The Little Nash Rambler by the Playmates! I absolutely love that song and it brings me back to a time when I was much younger and we used to have parties in my aunts garage. She had a jukebox and it was filled with oldies!

   Yes, I have a  special song it is by Johnny Mathis  the title is Chances Are. I love this song. Each time I hear it my regular schedule program  is interrupted.

    Songs are landmarks in my life. When I hear "Baker Street", I think of my time living in the Northwest and all the miles of highway I covered in those years listening to it. Santana's "Black Magic Woman" was hot on the charts when I was a cadet in Officer Training School.  The list goes on and on. In many cases there seems to be a single moment in time that the song brings back like playing the loop of a video over and over in my mind...always the same memory associated with the song. It makes one wonder if the brain has an "indexed" filing system which is based on links between files. Thanks for reminding me. WB

    yes there are special songs that take me back to a memory of a person or special time in my life. music contributes to most of the memories of my past. when I hear those particular songs it seems like they instantly trigger a memory from my past and it causes me to think back when the song was out and popular and what i was doing during that time in my life.  Isn't that why the DJ calls them throwbacks..

    There are a lot of popular songs I have loved. But, to take me back to a special place, I remember "The Letter People, especially Mr. S with Super Socks.  That was kindergarten, Mrs. Keyes.  That was a great year.

    For sure. There are countless songs that do that for me. The one that first comes to mind is 'Ironic', by Alanis Morisette. It reminds me of my silly teenage adventures, and how things just never seemed to work out quite as how they were planned...
