If you suddenly look at your friend and realize that there seems to exist some chemistry that transcends "just being friends", I would hint or suggest doing something, just you two. It has to be more as a date type setting, than just two friends hanging out-maybe an intimate dinner? I fully believe that if the frienship is true, you should not feel too embarrassed to make the suggestion. You will immediately know if you sparked some interest. If it's laughed off, then at least you can still be friends. You have absolutely nothing to lose, only a great deal to gain.
I would only advice on this once you really get to know the other side of your friend (eveyone has a good and bad side to them).....and when you know how to handle any bad side and your friends know how to handle your bad side...than go for it.....
Just ask your friend out. If you think it's worth a shot don't waste your time wondering if it will work out or not.
I believe women have a tendency to keep men as friends...when men would just assume date if there is chemistry there. I have a woman friend that I am interested in ...and she collects men.
Its easier to escalate from friend to lover than to do the reverse. From friend to lover means the two of you have a basis on which you could build your intimate relationship. You gotten to know each other from a different perspective through friendship. I would even say you have a stronger bond based on a mutual trust and respect for each other.
I think you have to be friends with someone before you can be in a relationship anyways, so I think the best thing to do is discuss it, if you feel like you can actually be with your friend on another level, and they feel the same, then go for it!
