How often should one get one's hair trimmed?
I am trying to grow out my hair, but don't want to get split ends. What is the maximum amount of time I can go between trims?
I think this varies a lot for people and depends on how often you use a hair dryer, flat iron, etc. I get my hair trimmed about every 8 weeks. Really stress to your hair dresser that you only want the very tips trimmed because you're trying to grow it out. Good luck!
Simone: human hair grows about 1/2 inch per month. If you think of your hair follicles as little factories... the production of hair within those factories can drop off. Concentrate on finding ways to make your hair grow at peak production. Here is a link to an awesome hub about growing quality hair. http://septembersmoon.hubpages.com/hub/ … ality-Hair
I get my hair cut about every six weeks and am trying to grow my hair longer too... If I wait much longer then six weeks... it seems like hair growth slows down.

Dave, you are absolutely correct. Good answer! My hair is shorter and I'm trying to grow it out. I get mine cut every 8 weeks tops. 6 weeks on average. And so far it seems to be working quite well. I believe it shouldn't be longer than 8 weeks though. Then you risk the chance of getting split ends which are nasty.
Aparently ever 6weeks you dont need to keep it trimmed to keep it heathy, if you invest in a good leave in conditioner, wash your hair every three days(keep brushing your hair everyday so that the natural oils are dipersed trough the hair to the ends), you should leave your hair without washing as regularly and long as you caan bu if you cant, apply olive oil once every two weeks(prevents drying out your hair, do this if you wash your hair alot), and steer away from haair dryers and straighteners as much as possible and your hair should be ok!!
P.s I used to work in a haidressers so I'm not weird and this does work haha.
I am trying to grow my hair too. My hairdresser told me that around 8 weeks for a trim should stop any split ends. I use a good conditioner and never use my straighteners without a heat defense spray first.
Oh my, what a question to ask me! It's been years since I visited a hairdresser! I get so fidgety and they always tart me up to look like a poodle or something. When the ends of my hair get too tangled I'll trim off an inch or so - usually every 2-3 months.
Everyone's hair is different so maybe just wait and see when yours needs doing.
Incidentally, my hubby hasn't washed his hair for years and it looks amazing - all shiny and healthy - so maybe all those chemicals we're constantly being told to use aren't all that necessary either...
The answer actually varies depending on your hair type. If I get my hair cut short it's months and months before it grows back. I have a girlfriend who gets her hair cut so short she almost looks like a man but in a matter of a couple of months it's longer than mine! So, how fast your hair grows is one thing to consider. Of course the health of your hair and how easily you get split ends is another. There are people lucky enough not to get split ends who never get their hair cut! Good luck.
7-8 weeks is ideal. 10 weeks max. I've been growing out long hair too. Once it starts to feel a little rough at the ends or looks ratty, it definitely needs a trim. Also use a deep conditioner once a week on the ends. Try to find an organic one with shea butter and no silicones.
This varies a lot for people and depends on how often you use a hair dryer or flat iron. I got my hair trimmed about every 4 weeks....
it differs for every individual....
in my case there is a gap of one month before i triI my hairs again..
it also depends on how long you want your hairs to grow....
there should not be any problem in experimenting since hairs grow back very fast
Once every six weeks is a good rule of thumb, although if your hair happens to grow faster or slower than the norm, you can play with that by a week or two. I've cut my hair short a number of times and then let it grow, and it can seem counterproductive to keep trimming it when you're going for that longer hairstyle, but in addition to maintaining a healthy, styled look, keeping your hair trimmed actually helps it grow faster. Hope this helps!
I've been trying to grow my hair out so that when I do cut it I'll have enough to give Locks for Love and still have considerably long hair. I have a bad habit of rarely getting my hair trimmed (or having my mom just snip a little off the ends) so when I went to the hairdresser last I got a little lecture. He said 6 weeks, which seems to be the standard answer. However, its been about 7 and since I never use heat products and try to deep condition regularly I think I can wait a little longer. I also try to take a multivitamin and Biotin. I know they say everyone's hair grows at the same rate, but I'm still not sure I believe it. I take fish oils also to help with dry skin and hair and when I stop taking these things I can tell a major difference.
every 2 months and in case you are trying to make your hair long, then 3 months
I don't think id push it past 8-9 weeks. You want to keep it healthy if you want to grow it long and strong. My aunt is a hairstylist and this is what she told me. If you do however what to try to last longer without trims, I recommend deep conditioning your hair 1-2 times a week to keep it healthy and hydrated.
I would say every 6 weeks... Leaving split ends in your hair can lead to your hair breaking more, so the best thing to do is trim it before they can begin to ensure your hair is happy and healthy! :-)I am also growing out my hair and this is what my hairdresser recommended to me...hope it helps!
