   Are the Beatles really the best band ever.
   
   I was just reading about the Beatles and I wonder if you think they are the best band ever. Which one of the Beatles was your favorite. Don't you wish there could have been a Beatles reunion tour. Its sad that it can never happen. What do you think about the Beatles. Were they the best band ever.

   John was my favorite to. I remember the night they were on the Ed Sulivan Show. I'm listening to them right now. I just love the Beatles music. To me there never was a better band.

   Music Bands are such a large grouping, that to call any band the best in the world would imply I really know something about who is who in the world of music and I have a wide experience. I cannot claim that for myself. I have heard spanish guitar bands (purely musical) from the 60's that will blow anyone's brain off! I have heard of Naga and Mizo youth play fabulously just in their own congregations or evening 'chill-out' sessions.
   
   So I cannot claim any band to be the best in the world. But if you re-phrase that question then I may say that I love the Beatles as the best in the world. They just pluck that particular string in my heart, and they did strum away at my heart strings when I was way too young, so that I cannot move on to love anyone better than them.
   
   I think I love all their numbers, but I particularly drool over ..'Yellow submarine', 'Lucy in the sky' and 'Hard day and night'.
   
   I do not suppose I would even care to break the magic of that first love by listening to them if they got together now. It never happens...!

   Up to now I think it has to be a toss up between the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, the nearest rival the both of them have ever had is Oasis.
   My favourite Beatle - the very tallented and humorous,  John Lennon by a  mile followed by George Harrison.

   Yes!  Paul was my favorite, I saw him in concert in 1990.  I am one of those second generation Beatles fans. 
   No one comes close to the musical genius of the Beatles.  They broke out of the cute mop top mold and proved themselves to be true artists.   Their early stuff was certainity good, but their later albums like Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road were revolutionary.

   A friend of mine once said, with the Beatles, it's very hard to pick a song you don't like! Sgt. Peppers is an amazing album. If you didn't recognize the vocals, you would have no idea who it was. EVERY song sounds completely different from the one before and the one after. They did not have a formula. Compare this to AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, and just about every other rock band in existence. Beatles changed everything, many times. Everyone else followed. A resounding YES, YES, YES, from me too.

      Many thanks for picking this as the best answer. I learned to play guitar from my brother in law, who was from Liverpool and looked so much like John Lennon, he was mistakenly mobbed by fans at the airport!

   John was my favorite. I actually cried the day he died. And yes I think they were the greatest band ever. If not who was better.
   
   Some people have said Elvis or The  Lynyrd Skynyrd. Band but I don't think so. Listen to Strawberry Fields Forever and then tell me who is better. Who indeed.
