      whonunuwho, it's funny that you mentioned this specific quote.  In Personality Dimensions there are Four Temperaments and one of them is Blue (The Idealist) - this quote describes this type.  I happen to be Blue. Everything seen in cosmic proportions

      I liked your thought, the only thing is that is somewhat disturbing is the word "abuse" - I do believe that most people (humanity in general) live their lives to the best of their understanding.  The understanding is a relative thing, too.

   Humans are rescue vehicles -- nothing more, nothing less.
   
   A generation ago, I longed for space flight, like Star Trek or Star Wars, but realized over time that my focus was on the vehicle rather than the passenger -- the physical rather than the spiritual.
   
   Genesis 1:26 reveals that "man" was created in God's image and likeness. And God is not Homo sapiens. Think about that for a minute. His children have no form or physicality. They are timeless and sources of creation. They are babies in the image of their Father.
   
   Genesis 2:7 talks of "man" being created from the dust of the ground. Dust. Chemicals. Biology. These are Homo sapiens.
   
   Thus "man" is a composite being: spirit, mind, ego and body. And ego is the fruit of the forbidden tree, built of dichotomies: good-evil, love-hate, generosity-selfishness, wisdom-stupidity, compassion-indifference, right-wrong and more. From ego springs all that we consider evil. Even the "good" of ego, is evil in the eyes of the Lord, for it is tainted with worldliness. Like the Pharisees, mortal "good" is selfish for it is proud and openly displayed so that all may see the bearer as good for their own sakes.
   
   Humanity has had many mysteries -- the dimmest dawn of hunter-gatherers, the paintings in the caves of Altamira and Dordogne (the same region as the Cro Magnon and as the Basques, children of Atlantis). But these mysteries are nothing compared to the rescue mission, of which Noah's Flood (27,970 BC) was only a small part.
   
   We are near the end of the mission. The signs of Revelation have started. And once the rescue mission is complete, Homo sapiens will be left to their own devices. Without the Holy Spirit as guidance, ego will take over with wailing and gnashing the outcome of unbridled selfishness.

   Created innocent and free enjoying fellowship with God, now born of the flesh corrupted and a slave to self separated from God, needing a second birth (a spiritual birth) to enjoy re-union with the Creator and eternal life.
   
   . . . that is the human condition.

    What is inate in all of us is the instinct for survival.  No matter what condition humanity is in, we manage to move on.  Are we better today than generations ago?  No doubt, we have progressed with technology, but often I wonder if we have forgotten the simple things, like family and community.  All in all though, this world manages to pull together in time of crisis.  So what one sentence will surffice....?  The human condition is true to nature, it evolves and keeps churning out new, even against adversity.
