Juices very often strip away the healthy fiber from the fruit and work to concentrate the sugars.  Many trained and licensed diet counselors will actually tell you to avoid drinking juice and instead eat whole fruit (not to mention low-sugar types of fruit) if you are trying to lose weight.

Thanks for the advice! What about juicing raw fruits and veggies at home using a juicer?

If your not a vegetarian you could always try out a low fat, low carb, high protein filled diet. Else you'd want to limit yourself from sugar filled foods and drinks including fruits. Raw fruits are a lot better especially organics but than again, not the best weight loss choice. Veggies on the other hand are great especially if you have a blender to toss in a few and create veggie juices as apposed to fruity drinks.

Absolutely! This is a first thing that I recommend to my clients who want to start a weight loss program, juice fast is a great way to prepare your body to loose weight. Veggie juices are the best (avoid tomato juice), but freshly pressed fruit juices are good also, especially detoxifying apple juice, it tastes great when you make it carrot/apple half and half.

I agree with you 100% Margarita and have become quite an experienced faster when it come to maintaining a weight loss program. Not only will it help you jump start a diet, but it will get you back on track if you falter as we all sometimes do.

A juice fast is an excellent way to boost weight loss. Just think variety and don't forget your vegetables. It is very important to get a variety of nutrients. If while on the juice fast you get hungry, eat a salad or some fruit. You don't have to blow it just because you're hungry. Once you jump start your weight loss with the juice fast. Watch portion sizes and make half your plate vegetables and fruit. Go to myplate.gov to track weight loss and eating tips. Best wishes to you.

Most juices contain a lot of sugar. Sugar is a major precursor to fat. The more sugar you have in your body, the more fat your body will retain. Fasting from juice will definitely give you a boost in weight loss.

    absolutely NOT.
To lose weight in a manner that is sustainable (as in, so that you won't just put it all back on again) requires a sustainable approach. Extreme methods such as fasting or excessive calorie restriction actually produce a hormonal response which promotes fat storage, and since your only source of calories is from sugars this is only exacerbated. Fruit and vegetables are incredibly good for you, but eat the whole thing as part as a balanced diet.
Any trainer or nutritionist who recommends a juice fast should hang their head in shame.
