If a bad thing happens to a bad person is this a good thing or a bad thing?
In a nutshell if a convicted rapist, serial killer or terrorist is hit by a bus on the way to prison and killed is this a good thing or a bad thing?
In regards to something like your specific example, I would say a bad thing. It doesn't allow the person to learn and grow from their mistakes and turn themselve around in the world and rectify them.
Things that happen to any one is rarely good or bad, just more inconvenient. I say this lightly. I know that there are some truely horrible things to happen to people, like rape, as you listed. And they are really aweful, and I'm not trying to play those things off as nothing. Not even slightly do I mean that.
What I do mean is that any situation can be horrible during the time, but it's how the individual deals with it, heals from it, learns from it and grows from it. I believe in karma, but I believe we make our own karma.
I agree we make our own karma and it was darn inconvenient to get raped by that biker gang but I have aids so who really got the last laugh!
Hey man, don't ask the question if you don't want to respect the answers
or don't answer the question with an idiotic answer and I won't laugh at it and ridicule it . . .
It is funny he mentions that because I got a question removed by the moderators the other day, mainly because I made one of the commentators mad and they got all fussy... I mentioned how people sure have got a lot more sensitive nowadays, blah...
Any death is a tragedy, for it diminishes us all.
What about the "bad" thing that happens to a person who has lived a pleasing and helpful life? What if we find out that this 30-year-old "victim" committed murder 80 years earlier? Does that make their tragedy seem any better?
We all need to show compassion to all at all times. We need to turn the other cheek. To do anything else makes us a victim (and, with resentment, a perpetrator).
We each need to take 100% responsibility for everything that happens to us. With that, we cease to be a victim. With humility and love, we can truly forgive the other person. That may help them forgive themselves.
Many Christians reject reincarnation and karma, because they are arrogant and think they know it all. They don't realize that God has many ways to help rescue us from the trap into which we've fallen.
When the Jews were about to stone the adulteress, Christ told them that he who was without sin should cast the first stone. All of them knew that they were not without some blemish, even in their current lifetime.
Seek not vengeance, for vengeance is the Lord's. Every person will pay for their crimes, including you. This includes crimes you may have forgotten, because you did them under a different name and possibly a different gender.
There is no condoning of bad, not even to those who have done bad. Good is not created by following bad with more bad. You do not put out a fire with more fire. You do not save a drowning victim by pouring more water on them.
Without a doubt this is the best answer in theory however I have found that it is difficult to do in practice as one or two of my comments above may indicate.

I think it was yesterday that I posted on my facebook, "bad luck" and "good luck" are one in the same, it's all a matter of having the understanding in order to interpret it. As for some of the post that I have read Karma isn't some little old lady or a scorned "woman" lying in the cut waiting to unleash her fury. Little do some people realize that they predict and conjure their own Karma. They are the creator of their Karma so it doesn't matter who "sees" or "knows" what you are doing, eventually who you are will make its way home. I'll compare Karma to a Genie....... your wish is my command!
If a bad thing happens to a person is because that´s is the way the dices roll for that person, which is not by chance, but as simple as one thing leads to the other, or how conventionality will put it. It was destiny.
The accident may be a bad loss for humanity, since that person forms part of the human race, although for the other part, he will have the chance to reivindicate his errors if he continues forming part of the human race in another stage existance.
That destiny thingy sounds cute until something bad happens to you. Yeah, you better hope for reincarnation, as we'll all need it.
They´ve made movies about it. It´s like the butterfly effect. The flap of a butterfly can produce a hurricane in a far away part of the globe. The bad moment comes when you´re there in the time the hurricane is produced.
Yeah, they also call that chaotic infinity...
Or in simple terms, the very effect of your actions led your steps to where you tripped with the wrong stone.
There is much more to life than 'cause & effect' as most sudden realizations happen while we are standing still.
Obviously you don't "listen" to self... I can't help you there, bro!
It is a bad thing, without question. I do not believe that I am qualified to say any person is 'bad' whatever that means, nor am I happy with the notion of a God who wreaks vengeance. It does not seem right to me to take pleasure in the misfortunes of others, whoever they are.
If you were held by a leader that only fed you small rations and dictated every facet of your life, would you feel the same way if such a dictator was "knocked off" and you were then allowed freedom? It goes back to those rose-colored glasses...
I wish it was that simple. If I were in that situation I like to think I could feel happy to be free without feeling good about someone being murdered.

Love really is the answer. When we take 100% responsibility for everything that happens to us, we take the perpetrator's viewpoint, too. We can no longer be a victim. I first felt this transcendent feeling in 1977, when I realized that the multiple assaults I had received in traffic were my own...

Should you tell people when their hub is bad or has mistakes?I always ask at the bottom of my hubs for comments good or bad. And I have left some telling people that they've done things like used the word rod instead rode for instance. Or maybe that they could link different parts of the same story...
