Is there anyone close to you who doesn't call you by your first name?
I feel like you are asking if people refer to you by your last name, but this question makes me think of my family and how everyone is referred to by a nickname. This goes beyond my immediate family and includes grandparents, uncles, etc. I had to learn these nicknames when I was quite young because we don't use given names anymore. For instance, an uncle is "Black Cloud" because he is usually telling depressing stories.
Well my kids call me mom, my husband calls me Mo which is not my name--in fact I have no idea where that nickname came from. If you mean people close to me that call me a more formal name, than no.
Most of my family calls me a variation of my first name or my nickname that I've had since I was a baby. I'm so used to being called some kind of nickname I sometimes forget what it sounds like when someone calls me by my real name.
I have tons of "nick names" that I go by, very rarely does anyone call me by my full first name...
My first name being Katrina ~ my usual names that I am called by are:
Kat
Kate
Katy
Mom
Rosebud
Other names I've been called in the past (which I responded to)
Half pint
Shorty
Red
Norm
Freckles
Cherry
So there you have it. It's actually very unusual for someone to call me by my name & it usually makes me feel like I'm in trouble when they do
My son calls me Mom, my daughter calls me Mami, my Nephews and Nieces call me Auntie or Tita. Other close to me call me by nickname Carol instead of Carolina.
yes my best friend call me by my last name, that makes her unique to me. and i like it
My best friend Ed calls me Holdaway a lot. He does sometimes use Gary though.
None of my family calls me by my first name, only my nickname. However friends and co-workers do call me by my first name. I remember back when I was in high school and a relative come stay with us for a while. Shortly after they moved in many of my friends began to ask me if my phone number had changed. Apparently every time a friend would call the house and ask for me by my first name, my cousin would tell the caller they had the wrong number. Lol
I have many nicknames and through my various job I also have different titles so many people address me differently all the time.
My wife even has some special nicknames for me like slick, opa, dufus, and slowpoke depending on her point of view.
But, they always make sure that I am called to breakfast, lunch, and dinner on time.
My Family calls me Kiss, Kissy or Kiss Kiss; which are nicknames I had as a little girl. My Niece and Nephew call me, Tia Kissy.

What is the worst nickname you ever had and do people still call you by that name?People I have not seen in years still call me my childhood nickname. It can be embarrasing and totally not who I am today! Rutley is one of my early nicknames and it has no rhyme or reason but I don't mind...

What was your childhood nickname? What did they call you for short growing up? Some of my cousins nicknames were Ash Crash, Andi Fandi, Krista Gail, etc. What were yours and did you like them? Why or why not?

If you cant prove that the Bible is false, how can you call it lies. That is irrational, for to call someone a liar you must have proof to the contrary to what they are saying. Anything else is personal opinion and mere speculation.

Do you return phone calls when the caller doesn't leave a message? On my work phone, I always answer it if I'm around and I always call back if someone leaves a voicemail asking me to do so. But when someone I don't know calls me and doesn't leave a message, I tend not to call them back.So what does...

Is it appropriate to give (or call coworkers by) nick names or pet names in an office environment?
