   I cooked food for elderly neighbors at Thanksgiving, along with other members of our block club. I made sweet potatoes for two families.

      You really did well, one day we all have to go in that age and who knows what would we have around our selves for caring. No matter which religion we people belongs to, but the fact is at-last we all are human not animal.

   I did some volunteer work in both the spring and fall. I have also been helping a friend get his groceries, because he doesn't have a car (Which is 130 mile trip each time). I also took in a lost and abandoned cat, and gave her a home.
   
   I worked full time for 15 years, and now that I am not working, it's nice to find something to do. I sometimes wish I could do more, but I don't have a whole lot of money. But, I get by with what I can.

   Our good deed in 2012 was my kids and I doing a different service project each month. We've made PB&J sandwiches for the homeless, placed wreaths on veterans' graves, assembled boxes of basic supplies to be sent overseas, thank you cards to the military, helped with the Stamp It Out food drive, just to name a few. My kids are 17 and 8 and I believe in teaching them from a young age just how important it is to do things for others without anything in return. It's a great joy when we all work together to help others!

   I have given some money, food and clothes to help some poor ladies without husband and with children to look after. This i do not considert as very 'good deed' so far but what matters for me is the sense of satisfaction I feel after seeing the look of little happiness in the eyes of those ladies. May be for a little time I spent chatting with them to know their condition and how they are struggling hard to live life I feel connected with them. For now this is just enough for me. I do hope God will sure bless me to perform some more good deed in real sense in coming time.

   My good deed for 2012 was singing and playing the guitar at one nursing home and one assisted living facility every month.  I've been doing this every year since I was in my 20s and I'm now 60!  There were a few times when I had to quit due to a job but when I got some time off, I started singing for them again.  I also volunteered at a therqpeutic riding center once a week during the spring, summer, and fall where we teach children with disabilities how to ride horseback.  I've been doing this since 2006.

   Usually my priorities are always different from colleagues, actually I think biggest donation could be to educate or give some knowledge to someone and without knowledge/education we actually are animal. So this is why I try by my self to provide  awareness and education who deserve. This is what I usually do and feel proud on it.

    2012 is amusing for me as this year I succeed in controlling my anger by changing my attitude from "I am like that" to " I can change that".

    I feel that we try to help people at all time throughout the year. At the beginning of December my neighbour was being evicted for non payment of debts. I knew they had endured a difficult year of setbacks, both parents had been made redundant. I did not know they were in such difficulty until a van and three men arrived at their door. The wife was crying in the street, my wife went over to her and found out their terrible predicament. Having been told by my wife their situation, we spoke to the men, made some phone calls, as did they. We were able to stop the process there and then  -  everyone needs help at some time. We have been in a similar situation many years ago. I can happen to you or yours. Do what you can where you can.

       Good job Graham.My hats off to you. I think we should dissipate more of these  acts of kindness  as headline front page in the papers and tv news instead of  constantly being bombarded with grim and negative news . Why not good samaritan news?

    I offered a friend of ours a place to stay with us and let him live with my family for more than 4 months without charging him for anything.

    Donated blankets for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Gave the usual donations to needy people for favorite organizations. Took time to be with people who thought I might be able to answer some questions.

    I have always been doing philanthropic work as far as I can remember. Have taken Hospice training classes and worked as a hospice volunteer for the terminally ill,I volunteer at Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity in an ongoing basis both in the US and abroad,have taken my nephew and niece ice skating and wildlife audubon trips , visited elderly people  when I take my yearly trip overseas- people who are my relatives or friends .I send money on a regular basis to indigent people who can barely make it for the next meal,give monthly contributions to our favorite Charities- Red Cross, Amnesty International,Doctors without Borders.I get a kick out of giving .It feels good for the soul.
