I used to paint in watercolors a lot to help relieve my stress.

Calligraphy for when I need to calm down a bit. It helps take my mind off all distractions because it requires a lot of attention. But handstitching is my favorite because it is entirely relaxing. My mother prefers scrapbooking, but I only help her out once a year.

I like things that are portable, so usually I crochet. I find if I can distract my mind I feel much better.

I knit Ruffle Scarves to help me relax.  I find that the dexterity of knitting, joined with the simplicity of making a ruffle scarf proves relaxing.

My favorite craft project is taking absolutely nothing and turning it into something that can add character to the rest of my collection. Just simply using my imagination and creativity to bring character and design to something that I feel needs a touch to bring everything together!

I love a variety of arts and crafts for relaxation! I like the satisfaction of sewing, but for complete de-stressing I opt for either embroidery or drawing. They are both similar in that the mind can wander comfortably at the same time that something permanent is being created. I also crochet, paint, craft, and doing woodburning. Woodburning is so intricate that you have to focus completely...it is great for relaxing and taking the mind off of everyday troubles!

Isn't it wonderful that when we become artistic, our minds can really focus on what we are doing, and that helps to get our minds off our troubles.  you have really neat crafts that you do, I like the way that you see you are making a keeper item.smile

I crochet.  It's very therapeutic and relaxing.  There is something very homey and comforting about it.  And I am always making something that someone in the family has asked me for which makes it all the better.  Learned how over 40 years ago.  Now, it's like an old friend to me.  Nothing better when it's winter to sit curled up under a throw with hot tea and the cat laying next to me and crocheting to get my feel good back.

I knit on a round loom. Once I've settled into the main part of the project the pattern repeats itself and I can listen to TV at the same time while settling into a rhythm.
