I get on here and what is the first thing I see...Mark stating that he isn't going to interact anymore? But...MARK! You have to stay. Forget the religious idiots and stay with us, your real friends and talk to us on other forums at least...don't leave!!!!
Ok listen up to the lowly Cabin Girl and I know I aint too bright but I know when you keep pouring petrol on a fire it stays alight.
Mark was right, he walked away and left these sad losers with nothing but their crazy religious views. Thing is if they are so happy with their Bibles and their crap why do they need your feedback.
Because their sad lives need you to feed their pathetic little lives. So be smart like Mark, let my comment be the last reply to this thread and sit back and laugh as they get no replies.
Can you all do that, hands up if ya can. I so knew you guys could, you religious freaks take a song break !
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpZm1TstpjQ
What? You are leaving the forums Mark?
That's quite a surprise really. Well, time goes, and things change I guess. It was nice while it lasted though, thank you for all the fun I had fighting shoulder to shoulder with you, against you, and watching your fights! Quite educational experience, too.
Good luck in your endeavors!
He's only leaving religion, but I'm sure you knew this, being so close together
Yeah I know but I am going for the sarcasm award.
So there's ! ? I will fight with you for the 1st place !
Well, I've only been on hubpages for six months but have witnessed many so called religious experts come here to challenge Mark much as a wannabe gunslinger does to a famous sharpshooter. As far as I know no one has been able to get their gun out of the holster against him before being plugged through the heart.
I do understand him getting tired of talking to the religious nuts which seem to multiply like flies lately. Besides, there is no point in matching wits with the witless. Good luck Mark, you're still number one on the "smoffer's" list.
you are right Randy. Mark is king of the snoffers!
I have no fear that he will leave hubpages, he like many are getting really tired of the zealots on the religious forums, and he may stop posting there.
There are lots of good religious people on these forums prepared to debate, but a few loonies make the threads long and boring. They do not want to discuss, just preach.
is that like a sneetch? those are cool...especially the star-bellied ones.
I agree about the good religious people here on hubpages, but the nuts seem to keep them from joining in the discussions very much. I suspect they do not want to be compared to the loonies if they do. Many people I love are religious but they respect one's right to make up their own minds about religion and truth. I respect these folks by their actions, not their faith. Some of the kooks hurt themselves and their religions way more than they help. Who would want to be like them?
It is pretty easy to see who people are. I read the hubs, and watch the posts like most here do.
The old saying "say what you will you can but say who you are" applies. Some people like Mark and many religious people too, set out to help others here. That is one sure way to sort out the wheat from the chaff!
Life nessitates (did I made up a word?) the existence of extreme opinions in order to adjust the middle ground to proper perspective. For their efforts we should appreciate everyone on both sides of every issue. Mark ,,,keep being the best you that you can be. sorry ... Gotta say it.... bless ya
I think right now that Mark has popped in to see what people are saying and it must be driving him crazy to not respond. Always a better person than me. Hi Mark!
Well Mark I didn't get to know you well but you have a very loyal following. You asked me not to hide so I sat down and figured out the picture thing because I believe what I believe. I'm not ashamed I'm not a great writer and I'm sure I can do some things better than you. I'm never affraid to admit when I'm wrong and I'll stand by my own evaluations of a topic. I just want to make one thing perfectly clear, I would never go behind somebodies back to get at them. With me it's head to head, period. Take it for what it's worth, I wish you well.
Pro 1:32 For they are simpletons who turn away from me-to death. They are fools, and their own complacency will destroy them.
Pro 1:33 But all who listen to me will live in peace and safety, unafraid of harm."
You post threats from your own religion, then somehow see them as sane! What a strange mindset!
Any entity worth worshiping would not have to threaten like a demented child do get obedience!
The other obvious thing, is that any entity worthy of worship would not need it!
GOD needs nothing.....you need everything from HIM to exist.
He has no needs and would not ask you for anything.
Do you need anything from your children?
I was under the impression he asks for people to believe he exists.
Did not hear that from me.
He asks for nothing.
Being needless, why would He?
Kings do not need anything, they command and it is done.
Not all of them, some are deposed and killed by their subjects.
Was I talking about a human king or are you.........?????????????
GOD is King of a kings, so one would say what I did and you know I meant GOD......you are done being answered.
Well that's a relief! Can you not answer everyone? That would be nice, Oh and try to leave scripture that is discredited out of your posts OK? Now we're set!
actually God has a whole laundry list of things he requires of his 'children', beginning with those ten commandments. the Bible is crammed with all kinds of scenarios where God got pi$$ed-off at people who didn't obey him and he smited them good.
some of it was premeditated too - it took Noah 40 "days" amd 40 "nights" to build that ark...
Requirements from GOD to follow instruction are not needs of GOD, or are you that naive?
If I tell my son to take out the trash, it is a requirement FROM me TO him...I do not need him to do it, I can do it myself...and if he does not follow the instructions, then he has made a choice to deal with the consequences...and the bigger the refusal, the larger the reaping.
I don't need my son to do anything as I could do it long before he came along.....he on the other hand "NEEDS" to follow instructions for his benefit, not mine.
And NO, I do not ask my son for anything.
"it took Noah 40 "days" amd 40 "nights" to build that ark..."
Really, boy he was fast. ....rethink that.
He must have been fast because those dinosaurs took up a lot of room.
You mean the believers who said the dinosaurs were on the ark were wrong?
Dude, if I make a statement that contradicts another person, what does that tell you I believe?
and so why do you ask a rhetorical question?
Figure it out yourself.
That's Mister Dude to you! But while were discussing monikers, I would like to ask you another question. How did you come by your alias on here? Really, did someone say to you " hey man, you are so quiet and so trustworthy, we should call you quietnessandtrust?" Or did you just decide on your own you deserved these valuable assets as your pen name. Or,perhaps God him/her/itself personally appeared to you and told you you to spread your version of him. I am serious, I really would like this enigma revealed.
Yep! Sort of a "goodbye MArk" from the religious forums! (Not hubpages)
Oh the drama of it all
Who needs the Soaps when we have 'The Forum' lol
What the hell happened to goodfriendiam and Badco? ,another goodbye and/or more alter egos'
Think Im off to bed ,maybe Im hallucenating
No, I think people should pay you no mind. You are a bigot as are all dangerously psychotic fundamentalists.
I remember a rascist telling someone to go back where they came from in Australia .... the guy he was talking to was aboriginal, and he was an Immigrat from Italy! I laughed then, as I do now.... !
If gunfire does start in the USA it will be from the religious.
That link is a religious indictment on it's own!
I come back to this thread and I do not understand where the love is, as A christian I have not ever seen so much anger in so many Christian believers? Why? What is with all of the name calling? Pointing fingers? Teaching understanding? Embracing? No wonder the non-believers or some who may have believed look away it saddens my heart and every last person on here is a great person. I guess I am naive' or maybe it is just that I simply love people, there thoughts, who they are and I understand. There was a time when I believed as a child and then stopped believing because of these exact things. If I had not been lead back by someone who understood the real words of God and if all of the miracles in my life did not happen I myself would have felt the same way as some of the people do on here. All I am saying is God is Love and to the Christians who are pointing there fingers and screaming please stop! Guide people so that they seek understanding do not make them think all of us are horrible and nuts if you did this then maybe they would stop mocking, calling names and maybe just maybe they would listen to what we know until then they will close there books and truly after these last few days I cannot say that I blame them. I am ready for the backlashing so go ahead because I can take it and I know that is not what Jesus would do.
they're just stupid, arrogant and what not. humans are still the same no matter what we believe in. human traits remain the same.
well, i do believe that atheism could bring more open mindedness to the world and by time, religion won't be necessary. but that's just my guess because that's just drawing another line. right now the world is heavily influenced by religion, provoking it will make it even stronger.
Ah, Julianna, we all know you are a wonderful human being. Let them, they are just exposing their own dirt, those who can see - will see, others will not hear you either.
Racism is still alive and well here in the deep south. So are nutty religious folk. Strange how the two often go hand and hand. Two of the bravest people I ever knew were the first black students to attend the local high school. I'm sure neither of the two young men got much sleep the night before school started. I often wonder how I escaped being just like the other people down here because it was a way of life to be prejudiced against black people.
I don't know why I'm writing this, I guess Earnest's response reminded me of why I dislike racism so much. I've seen to much of it in my lifetime.
Nah. Religion is on the way out.
They found another rock planet the other day outside our tiny solar system. Answers are coming daily that will create more empirical proof pointing in another direction.
Well, it seems Mark cast out a line and got quite a catch. See you around Mark.
I do not know one person who would speak badly of you AEvans. You do not provoke animosity anywhere on forums. I think it a great shame that extremists make these forums pretty worthless, and I understand why Mark has had enough.
Yes, he pleads then threatens every vile thing you could imagine. Tiny little crazy god!
Because his wife will not move until lunatics like you lose it and start shooting people. He explained it before. You should try reading first!
Mark leaves the religious forum, so in his honor we all have one big bonfire ... hmmm
For those who wanted to see Mark leave, I guess one can easily see the effect ... no difference ... as the divide still remains. Just like politics, religion has a left wing and a right wing, and the debates will go on forever, so long as we have those who want to see it continue.
Who wins when someone like Mark leaves the religious forum? Nobody, as it remains the same.
Who loses ... we all do. Now, I'm not saying Mark wasn't controversial or stubborn, but I always found those traits funny and admirable.
It's fitting that a eulogy be given in his departure, and I would like to start it off by saying that, while Mark wasn't always loved by all in this forum, he also wasn't hated by all either.
Many of the things he said caused people to think. Some (like me) always welcomed the chance to broaden our minds, while others feared any view that didn't fit in with their own.
Those who pushed Mark away can hang their heads in shame ... You were powerless to lead a sheep into your pasture, so instead, you cast it astray. Given this mentality, in time, only the purists of sheep shall remain ... and as more time passes ... those sheep will find each other unworthy, passing judgment until only one sheep shall remain.
This was the mentality Mark always stood against ... the mentality that all who do not believe a certain way must be wrong and must be cast into the fires. What consumed Mark also became his undoing, as he was drawn to the left by those who fought to force him to the right. Little did they know, the man actually stood in the center, willing to see either side, were it not for the fact he was told to stand right ... or walk away. Any person who is told this enough will eventually step leftward, not wanting to be forced to a standard they have not yet accepted for themselves.
For you see ... in a religious forum there can only be believers and non-believers, as no one seems to want a person to remain on the fence and look at both sides. You simply believe ... or you don't ... and that shouldn't be how things work.
God gave us free will, so how can us - as forum members - determine that shouldn't exist?
That's what Mark always brought to the table ... that we should all be allowed to chose our own path and should not be pulled by the leash.
And so, I will miss Mark, but I understand and respect his position, and I won't demand him to come back ... as MArk was always about expressing his free will, and forcing him to come back would be denying him what he always was.
If anything, I would hope there was something to learn from all of this, rather than a win to gloat over. Let us not divide this forum to the point where it absolves to one winner and disappears altogether.
Then again ... we all have the right to free will, so I leave it to you to decide where the religious forum goes from here ...
Earnest, I lived in Los Angeles during times of outright gang warfare. The God-and-guns loonies are full of bluster. Most of the people responsible for gun crime do this sort of stuff for non-religious motives.
The mocker / scoffer is done being addressed !
I am not your ask all answer all.
You lack pure motives.
I hope so, this is my real name. Unlike you, I do not hide behind a false and frankly, misleading alias. I did not expect you to answer anything at all, you never do.

Why do religious people always try and push their beliefs on you?

I'm an atheist, and even though I'm a generally good person (volunteer at an animal shelter, nice to people, generous, etc.), I've been told I'm going to hell simply because I don't take part in any religion. I'm really not trying to start a fight or argument, I'm really just curious- why are...

Speaking only for myself here. I can't see inside other people's minds, so I don't if it's the same for them. When a person tells me about God and Jesus and the whole nine yards, my first natural inclination is that there is no real truth in it. This non-belief just occurs naturally without any...

Can you really change God's mind? If yes, then what does that say about God? If not, then why do it? And why ask others to pray for you or for someone who is perceived to be in need of prayer? I have asked this question to many religious people because I've never understood the purpose of things...

Why is it so important to some that everyone must share their spiritual or religious belief?Or even their lack of belief? We cannot ALL be the only ones who know the truth about life,or God, or the bible yet so many people are convinced that they do know, and what's more, the rest of the world are...
