   My choices may sound odd.
   
   The first one is Braveheart, a 1995 historical drama war film directed by and starring Mel Gibson portraying William Wallace, a 13th-century Scottish warrior who led the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England, a very inspirational movie.  Wallace stood for honor, respect & independence for his people.  I found this move personally inspirational.
   
   Another one is The Host, a Korean movie about a monster that steals a man's daughter.  The effort the father & his family went through to rescue his daughter and how they never gave up hope she was alive was inspirational.
   
   Both movies were spellbinding to experience as well.

   Oh, I'm not even a movie person but I there are some that I thought were inspiring.
   
   Patch Adams (with Robin Williams) should be a requirement in Med School.
   
   Jack (with Robin Williams) deals with treatment of someone who is different.
   
   I'm not even a Robin Williams fan, believe it or not, but I liked Mrs. Doubtfire because it showed the effects on children of divorce.
   
   I liked The Notebook with James Garner really well.  I think it dealt with Alzheimer's pretty good. 
   
   Fireproof with Kirk Cameron is definitely a favorite.  Deals with marriage issues of today.  It's my daughter's favorite movie.
   
   Passion of the Christ was difficult for me because I of the violence. I don't watch many movies so I may not be a good contributor here.

   It can be any film that inspires you in any way, whether it's intentional or not. But I suppose the label is more typically used for those dramas that are purposedly made to inspire the audience, whether it's by showing how characters overcome certain odds to achieve something.
   
   Whether it's intentional or not, in-your-face or more subtle, some films that might fit the bill are The Shawshank Redemption, October Sky, Bridge to Terabithia, Dead Poets Society, etc.

      There was another movie called Ordinary Guy from the 1980s.  He was a christian reaching out to gang members and is killed during a gang shootout.  He narrates the story from Heaven though you don't know it until the end

   inspiration can come from anything so it could even come from crap movies. however i only want to give you some good ones so here goes. sports movies exist as a genre because they provide wholesome inspiration. but you have to invest some emotion in the characters and after that, once the movie finishes, there will be nothing that can stop you. for example rocky, rocky 2, even rocky 3, the greatest game ever played etc. sometimes even drama movies can work well like schindlers list, shawshank redemption etc. casablanca has an ending you wont expect but even that can inspire you if you are in the right mood. or star wars or the karate kid (the original one) or the artist. or autobiographical ones like gandhi and if u like musicals then my fair lady or even kids movies can inspire you like jumanji, the lion king, wall-e etc. the list is endless. just give your television a shot. everyday they play so many movies which they already know has got good ratings. all the best. and keep watching!!!

   The movie that vibrates on the string that is the essence of our being will inspire us, I guess. For me that string is the fight for justice and perhaps the movie that will go down for me, in all my 68 years, as one of the most inspirational ones was the movie I saw this very weekend - "Lee Daniel's The Butler"!  I lived through every President mentioned in the movie. Superb! Excellent! All Thumbs up! 
   A movie can actually change history whether it is fictional or not.  I imagine "The Butler" will provoke young people toward more political activism in regard to social justice issues.  I know it made me want to go out and fight more fervently for causes I believe in.
   
   I think the first movie that might have inspired me was "The Magnificent Obsession,"  although re-reading the plot over 50 years later, it seems so corny that I doubt I would be able to sit through it. 
   Another 1950's movie, "Blackboard Jungle," inspired people to go into teaching in the inner city, I believe. Later, "The Miracle Worker"  led a lot of people into special education.  While Cecil, the fictional son in "...The Butler," is critical of "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner," that movie actually served up "racism" in a way that was palatable enough for the white community to accept and helped them analyze their own racist ideas. Of course, "Ghandi" gave us all the hope of non-violent social change. It's definitely time for a new film like that.
   But any genre of movie can be inspiring, including action and science fiction. I'm thinking of "E.T." and and "Star Trek." And of course, even kids' movies like "Karate Kid" and "Shrek" can inspire.
   
   TV shows can be inspirational as well.  In the 50's, the beautiful Loretta Young, came out in a beautiful gown to introduce a "moral" tale that she starred in as a different character each week.  It was like going to Church! (I keep telling my actor- singer-writer daughter that the world needs a modern day "Loretta Young" show, but it's hard for young people to understand what that show did.)
   I love the power of film to inspire, and I think our inability to make our OWN short stories or screenplays into film is not lack of recognition or representation, but because we're not done with our writing until we know it inspires. And maybe all of us are just waiting and hoping for the inspiration to inspire.
   So all, in all, I think it is that which tweaks our hidden passion that will be motivational to us either individually or collectively. The filmmaker who is gifted with an intuitive sense of what that is, is the one who can actually change society.

    There are so many inspirational movies -- films which uplift the soul.
    
    The first one that came to my mind is "What Dreams May Come," Robin Williams.
    
    Another is "Good Will Hunting," Matt Damon and Robin Williams.
    
    "Patch Adams," with Robin Williams.
    
    "Das Boot," which was a German TV miniseries whittled down to a movie. I've seen several versions including the TV mini several times. This is a work of art that helps us appreciate life in the face of murderous patriotism. Something that speaks well regarding the new Evil Empire, America.
    
    "Beastly" (2011)
    "Charlie St. Cloud" (2010)
    "Dune" (1984) too many critics hated it. I loved it. Transcendent.
    "Ever After" (1998)
    "Fools Rush In"
    "Pleasantville" (1998)
    "The Gift" (2000)
    "Finding Forrester"
    "Flight of the Phoenix" (2004)
    "Greenfingers" An unexpected delight.
    "Holes" (2003)

    "Being There" (1979) One of my all-time favorites. Charming. Uplifting. Inspiring. But the end credits ruined the high. Even Peter Sellers hated the end credit takeouts.

    Remember the Titans
    We Are Marshall -- I thought it would be sappy, but was pleasantly surprised at how well they treated that story.
    Iron Will - I showed it to my class one year and they loved it.

    Inspirational movies are the one, that inspires or motivates you to work towards  your actions in order to achieve a particular goal. I have watched a lot of inspirational movies including both- Hollywood and Bollywood. To name a few, Pursuit of Happiness is one of my favorite, Will Smith does a fantastic job inspiring millions. In Bollywood, I would say my current favorite one is -Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, based on the famous Indian athlete Milkha Singh's life.
