   What is the oldest article of clothing you still wear?
   
   I found a sweater awhile back that I have had for probably 20 years and I wore it again.  It made me wonder if other people keep clothes that long? What's the longest you've had an article of clothing and what was it? Why do you keep it?  Mine was a simple, classic black sweater that I really like and it's held up very well over the years.

   I like to tell my kids "I have T-shirts that are older than you!"
   ...but I'm fairly sure that the oldest item in my closet is a NJ Devils hockey jersey (with goalie Martin  Brodeur's name on the back), which I've had for at least a dozen years.

   Christin......This is way too funny for me to answer......I have the dreaded Family curse of KEEPING things...handed down from one weird generation to the next, the curse AND the things!
   I am relieved that you have limited the answer to "things we still wear."  Please do not spread this around, but I literally have entire outfits, lovingly packed away in preservation, due to "sentimental reasons," (like the outfit I wore on my first date with my husband, 46 years ago)  Is that old and creepy enough for you?  Of course I don't wear it.  It ceased to fit me 40 years ago!  LOL
   I do have a 50 year old jacket that I still wear occasionally.  At the Post Office one day, a guy I grew up with, walked up to me and tugged on the sleeve.....and said, "Paula, really, if it's about the money, I can lend it to you."......Is that funny or what?  I laughed so hard.  I was actually AMAZED at his memory!
   I can't get started on this subject....too much self-disclosure!  I'll get quarantined to a padded room!   LOL  Great question!

      awww..thanks Steph,,,,,another sentimental lady, eh?  I also have 4 tiny outfits "preserved" that were what I dressed my sons in, for their ride home from the hospital, after their birth.,...to include teeney socks and satin shoes.  I have issues?

   I have a cotton, button up the front, long sleeved shirt that I bought on clearance at Macy's in 1994. I like the subdued dusty rose and earth green floral pattern, it's comfortable and it still looks pretty much like it did the day I bought it. It is very comfortable and goes with lots of things. I think I may have paid $4 or $5 for it!

   I have a flowered housecoat that my mother made for me around 30 years ago. I still love it and wear it on summer mornings when I sit outdoors to have coffee. Hummingbirds love me! 
   
   But I think my husband takes the cake. He has a print shirt made out of some kind of indestructible synthetic that his mother gave him for his birthday 52 years ago. He still pulls it out every year and wears it if I'm not supervising his choice of wardrobe!

   I am kind of a shoe freak, I have approximately 80 pair of Michael Jordan tennis shoes, accumulated over the years. since my shoe size has been the same for over 20 years and I keep them well maintained, I have shoes that are probably 10 - 15 years old

   Jealous. I can't keep clothes because I keep getting fatter and they don't fit me anymore. Even my pregnancy clothes don't fit, so they have to be discarded.Even my fingers get bigger so I can't fit my wedding ring. I will seriously consider saving shoes. Since, as Alphadogg 16 says, feet don't grow bigger.

   A light-weight leather jacket I've had for about 30 years.  It is one of those timeless articles of clothing that I do not ever want to part with....I have gained and lost weight a few times (growing out and then into it again).  I am in it again (LOL).  I get compliments on it everytime I wear it.

   When I moved to Brazil, I threw out most of my clothes because only shorts and t-shirts are worn here in the main. However, I had a pair of black high heels that were 20 years old. I loved them they weren't those high types that kill your feet and back, these were tasteful. Let me say, no one would call me a fashionista but this was one thing I got right, they were timeless. They finally wore through the weaved upper and it was a sad day when I threw them away.
   I also had a black mid calf coat for about 20 years. I wore it, then my daughter wore it, and then she gave it back to me. That too went when I moved to the tropics.

    I keep everything, I am a huge pack-rat. I still have jackets and jeans. If jeans get to small at the bottom or they rip I cut or sew accordingly. This is very terrible because I have so many new clothes, but, refuse to throw away old clothes!
