   You can keep a relationship from falling by paying attention to your  partner appreciate each other. Be yourself and show trust, love and respect to your partner spend valuable time to know one another more and do what matters the most to you both of you.

   It's impossible for (one) person to save a relationship.
   Both people have to be on the same page and want the same things! Communication is your GPS for determining whether or not you are "growing together" or "growing apart".
   Having said that there is no amount of "work" or "communication" that can overcome being with someone who does NOT want what you want. When it comes to relationships most of us (fail our way to success).
   If this were not true the majority of us would be married to our high school sweethearts! Experience is a great teacher.
   There are only two ways to experience joy and peace of mind in relationships: we either get what we want or we learn to be happy with what we have.

   Monica,
   The main reason why relationship fail is when you take for granted that it will work on its own. No relationship can survive unless there is nurturing and caring. Being bored and outgrowing the person you love can plunge any relationship into defeat.
