I think that if I'm going to McDonalds, I am definitely going to get some fattening stuff.  Diet at McDonalds?  No way.  But I like what they have and don't feel the need to want to make my own meal.

I think McDonald's has realized that people want healthier options when ordering fast food and in order to keep up with other places that offer healthier selections they will have to make these changes.

They normally get people in and out so they are likely to have some problems with taking longer to prepare meals with the new build your meal. The food for the customer will be fresher and hot. No matter what they do they will still always have the best fries!

McDs is not real food but mummified food. It contains so much preservative and additative it wont decay after weeks or longer and then some. It is riddled with gross trans fats salt and sugar.

malaysia McD has value meals, no build your own meals yet. So we have limited choice to choose good food. Anyway, there isn't good food either, fat food. yes

I think McDonald's specializes in cheap, but not healthy. I wouldn't eat there, or at most fast food restaurants, because even the supposedly healthy options rely on salt, sugar, or fat to make them taste good.

I have to admit it's not a bad idea, though I haven't been to a Mcdonalds in years, and don't intend on going any time soon. (Unless I'm out late, and there is literally nothing else open.)

I'm not impressed with the idea. Pizza Hut and other chain restaurants are all jumping on the build your own meal bandwagon to compete with one another. It will only last until the next big idea arrives. You've always been able to substitute and choose your meal but now they are highlighting that. The food is still low quality and unhealthy. The meat they serve is still combined with chemicals and additives so nothings really changed.

This was tested in 8 restaurants in California with success and they are rebranding it as Create Your Taste. I think it is trying to change the perception that its food is not healthy.

We do not eat at McDonald's anymore.  Ever.  We try to educate people and discourage them from eating there, and especially from feeding their kids any of that garbage.
Nothing they serve is 'real food.' It is all GMO modified, fake, full of fat and chemical additives.  Do you know why their shakes are not called "Milk shakes?"  It's because they are not legally allowed to call them so--there is no dairy in them--the shakes are 100% artificial chemical and hydrogenated oil soup.
Did you know there is more salt in those shakes than on the fries?  The fries just taste saltier because the salt is on the surface.

Eating at McDonald's on any kind of regular basis is a good way to get sick.  They are part of the problem along with the likes of Monsanto, messing with our food, and feeding us rubbish.

We live out in the boonies so don't have a McDonald's nearby.  Guess we won't be building our own meal there, but think it's a good idea.
