   Have you ever had anything named after you?
   
   Growing up, I had a street named after me, LOL ...true story.  When the city decided to expand the neighborhood, they made a new street to run alongside our home.  We then lived on a corner.  I remember as a small child when the city officials came knocking on our door wearing their suits.  I was the oldest of four children. They asked my mother what my name was and then I had a street named after me.  However, they did not spell it the way I spell my name, so I never felt like it was quite my street.  I could not find the best topic for this question ...    I wish! My name is China so no matter how many children are born given the name that I have, it would never feel like they are named after me.

      Hi TheChaiiChi, Oh, yes, I understand on that one. Actually, I was named after my two grandmothers. One on my first name and the other for my middle name.

   I opened and ran a women's recovery home for about 20 years.  I co-developed a psychiatric clinical experience for 4th year nursing students at Brenau University and conducted them for six years.
   
   Sometimes, we are allowed to come full circle and give back.  Twenty-six years ago, the University president and five deans intervened on me for my substance abuse issues. I have been in recovery since September 30, 1988.
   
   In 2008, Brenau University created the Marilyn Davis Community Service Learning Award; ongoing for advocates in substance abuse, mental health and wellness. 
   
   Creating the clinical was just one of many gifts of recovery; making amends and helping our future medical practitioners understand that recovery is possible is the true blessing; not the award. ~Marilyn

   No, I've never had anything named after me as far as I know.  However, I have named something after me - a Psychological Law.  I call it Ware's Law (Ware is my family name)   Here is the law:
   
   "Ware's Law states that the seriousness of an announcement made by anyone in authority is always inversely proportional to the serious of the real event."
   
   For example, if your on an aircraft and the pilot's voice comes over the public address system stating  that he has 'a serious announcement to make,' you can rest easy.  It will be something fairly trivial like the aircraft will going to a different gate to unload passengers than that expect.  Or it could be something about filling in a document prior to landing.
   
   However...If that same pilot comes on the PA system a quietly, almost apologetically tells you, 'We're experiencing some minor difficulties on the flight deck - panic!   PANIC!
   
   Have you any idea what "a minor difficulty is?'   It probably means the aircraft is running out of fuel, is totally lost - or the wing just fell off.
   
   I base this on my many years as a radio operator in both maritime and aviation spheres listening to people relaying messages over the airwaves.
   
   Mark my words.  Listen carefully to announcements made by those 'in charge.'  And remember, the more casual and nonchalant the announcement, the more dangerous the situation.

   Good morning wonderful Faith Reaper:
   No I have never had anything named after me, BUT, when my daughter got pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl she named it Samantha LEA ...her middle name after me, as my first name is Lea...and she even spelled it that way.
   That was the greatest and most wonderful surprise, and I actually wept when little Samantha Lea was born...my daughter allowed me to be with her .  Never have I felt so overwhelmed and honored at the same time.

      Hi sweet Sparklea,  Oh, that is so precious and special!!!  I know it was certainly the greatest and most wonderful surprise ever!  I would have cried too, sweet woman.  Grandmothers play an important role in the life of their grandchildren no doubt.

   Yes both my grandsons carry part of my name. My first-born grandson carries my middle name and my second-born grandson carries my last name. As I carried part of "me fadder and grandfadder's names...

   My granddaughter is named after me, my middle name. Also, my HubPages account is named after me. LOL
   
   Some day, when I am famous, I hope to have a beautiful rose named after me - "Rose rouge de Phyllis". Sounds good, huh?

   Actually there are very few Kingsley's but a few Kingsley Roads and Avenues in more than one City. So I guess that he must have been a prominent dude.
   
   Theresa you're very common, but not in a simple sense. In fact, we have some of our Christian Saints with that name: Theresa of Avila; Theresa of Lieusieux; Therese Neumann the Stigmatist, Mother Theresa ... all very powerful women of God. The first three were spiritually very intoxicated Souls. My Guru was very close to the last one, and they met many times and shared private letters.
   
   Whew! Long answer. Read about their lives, especially the first three. They walked with God and were very elevated Souls.
