Are immigrants the real problem in the US?
As you may know, Mr. Trump has told that immigrants are maybe the biggest problem that US have, but do you agree with that? why or why not?
Immigrants are not the biggest problem the US has. One of the biggest problems we do have is the fact that we have not taken care of our illegal immigration problem. Our government has continuously swept it under the rug for years. During that time, the illegal population has grown to well over 12M I believe. Now, Trump wants to build a wall because no one else is doing anything about. Illegals are coming into this country, demanding government aid, and protection, and we cater to them, while millions of Americans are out of work or underpaid. Big business wants illegal immigration to continue unabated as it gets them cheap labor. Big government wants it to continue so they can keep pretending like they are fighting about it.
Immigration is essential to the continuation of the greatness of the United States. We are indeed a country of immigrants, but our ancestors and others came in legally and we knew who they were. These were people who were willing and able to commit to the American culture. They did not cling to their previous customs and religions more than their new adopted homeland. Immigrants today come in from south of the border and do not assimilate. They are only here to get the jobs and send the money back home to families much of the time. Trump aims to put a stop to illegal immigration. Not sure if he will deport the ones already here or not. That would be a lot. But, he would make sure the laws on the books are enforced and maybe work with a more amiable House & Senate to get something done long term legislatively on this issue.
I'm mexican and I am not against all this, I think that what really bothers latino community is his attitude towards all of us, and thats not how a politician is expected to behave and also considering its one of the bigger countries around the world
Mario
First, there is a controversy of whether Mexicans are Latinos? I didn't start it, just notice it. Second, illegals are getting in the country, while legal immigrants are stopped by quotas. Why should illegals be able to do that?
Immigrants of the illegal kind are a major problem, as they discriminate against all those other immigrants that try to get into the US following the existing immigration law.
But there are bigger problems in the US, and it stems from the government and the political parties. Congressional gridlock, and a president that becomes a defacto congress is not the way the government was created to act.
The three branches of the government were supposed to be checks and balances for the government, but they have failed us because of the two main political parties and their sheep aka loyal party voters.
They have put the country in a decline since the 1960s, and it continues today. The implosion of both the democrat and republican parties this year failing to even listen to the voice of the voters is a total breakdown even surpassing congressional gridlock.
Underpaid foreign workers are a problem for the blue collar middle class in the US.
Illegal immigration and legal immigration through HB-1 visas and other programs are why wages have stagnated for the bottom half of the population for the past 20 years.

I want to write an article about illegal immigration and its effect on this country. I love people in general and I’m a legal immigrant myself (I immigrated here 28 years ago). However because of our “human rights” approach, affirmative action laws, and open door policy, we have invited some...

There is an influx of illegal immigration to America as a result of this amnesty program. These illlegal immigrants have no skills nor education.Because...

I cannot find a group that supports illegal immigration. Yet we cannot stop it. Now that is pathetic. So we must conclude that without saying it, some - many in America support it and do what they can to stop control of it. It would seem that this should be a target for midterm elections. Who does...

Should all undocumented immigrants be deported?I recently read an article where the author quoted an Arizona woman whose police officer son was killed by an undocumented Mexican immigrant with a prior criminal history who had never been deported. The woman who was the subject of the article,...

I just finished writing a hub on this topic and I am wondering if people out there think that we will be able to come to a consensus on a common sense approach to immigration or is this topic just too emotional for serious rational discussion? Thought?
