Do YOU contend that transpeople are becoming a bit extreme regarding their rights?
If violence/abuse without any cause is involved, then I would say yes.
Otherwise no...i would have to question whether or not the people who do think they are being extreme (without violence or abuse), especially as if trans people suddenly decided to raise hell one day for no real reason, live in reality at all.
Any mortal that is being persecuted for being who or what they are has the right to fight for equal ground...this is the core of the American constitution. This is the core of the human condition...one's gender should never play a part in any aspect of life.
Gender is what it is. If a person is trans...then that is what they are...whether it be evolutionary or from birth. If a person becomes a man after living as a woman for decades so be it. The evolution of the species...it is an ongoing debate obviously, but for those who are not comfortable in their own skin and must find acceptance in another gender because it feels RIGHT...than it is right...and they have rights as valid as John, Jane or Paul Doe American. This is a simple question...it is not an issue to create confusion over...people going through transition are having enough instability in creating their new happy being.
I don't know if it the Transgender people themselves who are being extreme. Probably not them. It's the LGBTQ and the liberals that are going crazy with forcing everyone to agree with them. It's my honest opinion.
No. As long as no violence is involved from the part of the Transperson (unless self defence).
Asking for simple rights to be safe when out and needing to eliminate waste, should NEVER have stirred up this much bother. The media haven't helped - it's hiding the other issues brought in by HB2 - the stripping of the right to be free from discrimination in housing, healthcare and employment for anyone assumed to be LGBT.
A human should have the right to be free of discrimination based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or lack of, race, disabilities, political stance.
Hell, I think that in the states isn't political affiliation a protected right to freedom from discrimination? It's a CHOICE! If I'm wrong, religion is still protected, and a choice. Yet something that isn't a choice (ask any gay or trans person if they choose anything about who they are) isn't protected.
Trans people are merely asking for the law to be repealed - it was 'use gender identity bathroom' before HB2 and NO ONE had an issue.
Are they becoming extreme? No. Those against them - screaming abuse through Target on the other hand....surely they have better things to do?
They are demanding accommodations that are not rights.
Sex segregation of facilities like bathrooms, showers, homeless shelters, dorms exist for the safety and privacy of women.
To give mentally ill men (80%+ of trans are born male) biologically intact (fewer than a quarter have male organs removed) who are often still sexually attracted to women (hence the transgender lesbian designation) to demand access to spaces segregated for women's safety and privacy is insane, and validating someone's delusion does not help them recover from it.
Note that they agree their brain isn't right for the body, but the solution is to mutilate the body, not treat the mental illness. When anorexics aren't happy with the fat they see, we don't give them stomach stapling surgery. When the "trans-disabled" try to remove limbs or blind themselves, we lock them up for their safety. Someone says I deny the biological reality toddlers understand, please pump me full of hormones and give me massive surgery - and in the name of proving there is no difference between men and women, liberals want to cater to them. And because the more exotic the class the more moral weight it is given, transgenderism trumps feminism.
And if you truly believe there is a rape culture, you cannot in any way shape or form cater to the men who say they are women for the risk that they might rape as well as the men who would use the "gender fluid" category to say they are women today to access these spaces.
We are morally required to say no to catering to these delusionals, for the safety and privacy of women. To say that privacy for women includes abortion but not having a mentally ill biologically intact man standing next to you in a shower free to stare and maybe do more is INSANE.
And don't say it doesn't happen, because I've had to deal with one - and HR said it was a spat between two women and did nothing.
You may have had some bad experiences, but in my experience, people who undergo the transgender ordeal are not "weird" men who wish to glimpse women going potty...this whole topic could be removed from public discussion...build unisex bathrooms. easy
Accommodations that are not rights?
Equal protection clause. 14th Amendment. Google it.
Oh and I'm pretty sure the mentally ill are still US citizens, so...
It is not just bathrooms. It is showers, locker rooms, girls' dorms.
I agree, Tamara. Men are men, no matter what medicine they take or what surgeries they've had, no matter the clothes they wear or their hair length. It is not discriminatory to require men to use men's bathrooms. Sex segregation is not illegal.
@ Smartandfun. You're kinda missing the point. Transgender are not men turning into women...transition is about the mind being female and wishing to be able to identify with the body the brain is in. Transgender is not a man turning into a woman ...
That's right, they are men. They can use the men's room, or they can lobby for their own facilities. For every study attempting to prove "brain sex," there are more that disprove it. Women should not have to undress or shower with men.
You're allowed to hate whoever you want as intensely and ignorantly as you want. But in America, you don't get to use public policy to discriminate against minorities just bc you get the willies.
Justin Earick, you're putting words in my mouth. I don't hate anyone. I simply don't want to shower with, bunk with or undress in front of men. This goes for ALL MEN other than myhusband. It's not discrimination, not hate, not bigotry, not ignorance.
Bathroom fear-mongering is the same tired nonsense bigots pushed against gays before. Lazy, recycled, and completely contrived. And when you disrepectfully and purposely use inappropriate pronouns, you are screaming I HATE THEM!
No screaming here. No hate, either - just scientific fact. Males are males regardless of clothing or cosmetic surgeries. Trans males should lobby for their own facilities or safer mens rooms. They're not women. Plz leave women out of this male issue.
Just becuz you don't think you're ignorant or uninformed...it doesn't mean you aren't ignorant or uninformed...it simply means you don't know the facts and are likely in a state of denial. You can wish all you want...but if one is ignorant...one is.
It's men who wish to be women who are doing the wishing. It's men who deny being men who are in denial. It's not hatred or bigotry to accept scientific fact over wishes. It's not bigotry when women don't want to shower with & undress in front of
Again, you can be as ignorant and consumed with hatred as you wish - but you don't get to codify your personal prejudices and bigoted views into public policy. Not in America. Maybe try Saudi Arabia...
I'm simply stating a scientific fact. I do not have to play along with the incorrect belief that men can be women. You can insist that 2+2=5 if you like, but the rest of us do not have to humor you. Accepting science is not bigotry or hatred.
I agree with you , i think its insane how they are pushing to used same restroom as woman ,
Extreme regarding their rights? This is America. Give me liberty or give me death.
I'm curious where all the hatred and bigotry comes from. I know they hide behind their interpretation of the bible to justify bullying of gays. They don't have that luxury with gender identity. They're just so consumed with hatred and self-righteousness they can't help themselves.
Nailed it, Justin...right in the coffin. Well done!
And the homosexuals who threatened to burn down my son's private school for declining admission to a lesbian's daughter were all acting out of love?
I am an atheist and a woman. I do not want to undress in front of men or shower with men at the gym. If I ever find myself at a woman's shelter, I do not want to bunk with a man. So I am a bigot?
Yes. If you insist upon using disrespectful pronouns, insist on portraying them as predators, and insist upon discriminatory policy so you feel more comfortable - then the answer is pretty obvious.
I am portraying no one as a predator. I simply do not want to undress in front of a man or shower with a man other than my husband. This is called modesty & privacy. It is not discrimination to require men to use men's facilities.
You want discriminatory public policy against a minority group so you can feel more comfortable. Pretty much the difinition of bigotry. Without even religion to justify your prejudice. Nothing but ignorance-fueled hatred.
It is not discrimination to require men to use men's facilities, or for women to want privacy and modesty when undressed. What I see here is men telling a woman she is a bigot if she doesn't want to get naked in front of male strangers. Nice.
Yet, you don't understand that Transwomen are women - so by intentionally calling them men, u r displaying bigoted behaviour. May I suggest using a stall in changing or rest room? I think many transfolk wld use stalls anyway, so wouldn't c u regrdls
I have nothing against trans males but they are males. There's no way to change male to female. Not all women's facilities have stalls. Women who don't want to shower with or undress in front of males are not hateful bigots. Science is not bigotry.
transmen are male (born female) trans women are women. They may have been assigned the other gender at birth, but their brain is that of their gender identity - science has proven that. Intentional misgendering is bigotry.
Science has not proven that. The brain is not a sexually dimorphic organ. There is no distinct "ladybrain" or "manbrain," though "ladybrain" is the narrative transactivists tell us we must believe. I have nothing against trans but they are not women.
The brain of a trans woman behaves in the same way the brain of a cisgender woman does. recent medical doc featured small piece on it. Pee + change in a stall. Most trans do anyway.
It is far from proven. For every study showing "gendered brains" or "sexed brains" there are more which show the opposite. Not all facilities have stalls. What about women's shelters? Open showers? College dorms? Camp cabins? Males are not women.
In my opinion I think "rights" and accommodations are being confused. What you identify yourself as and what you are anatomically may be two different things. If you have a penis, you are anatomically a boy and should not be in the same restroom as a female. Not keeping the two segregated will bring more problems then good. There are a lot of unsavory individuals/pedophiles that will use this too their advantage.
The whole gay -trans issue train to me is so old now , as in the trannies why do .0000001 percent of the population seem to always make 60 % of the P.C. noise , AND get the same amount of media attention ?
It's 1% - and 70mil people in the world who r trans. The whole thing abt HB2 is that it's hiding the rest of the disgusting bill - stripping discrimination protections for LGBT in housing, employment + health. Relying on trans fuss to hide the rest.
Jacqui I agree that HB2 is a bad one & discrimination protections for health, housing, employment are important for LGBT. But the "men are women" part is ridiculous. Women should not be made to bunk, shower or undress with men. It's abusive to wo
YES! BIG YES! And that is because freedom has been exercised too much all over the world.
Well, I don't think so. Especially in my country, transpeople are still looked down upon with contempt. This justifies the way they are fighting for their rights. I don't look at it like an extreme act, rather it's their desperate voice to attain the rights they deserve.

For the purposes of non-discrimination, gender identity now has the same protection as biological sex non-discrimination protection. She said...
