Would you spend more of your vacation budget on beachfront or
less for a nice hotel 20 minutes from beach? Presented with 2 options, spend half of your vacation budget on the beach front hotel with a beach front pool, or having to drive 20 minutes to beach while spending only 1/5 of your budget which would you choose?
What is this "vacation budget" you speak of? I have only vague memories of such a thing ....
Hey Stranger.....I miss you~do you even care? LOL V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N. Did I spell that correctly? Hasn't been a part of my vocabulary (or life) in so long, I'd just like to know if I remembered how to spell it.
Here's the scoop. I live in a town situated on Lake Erie, with miles and miles of BEACH. The "beach" ceased to impress me by the age of 10. I do not enjoy the sun scorching my body, despise humidity (which is 90% of our summers) Sand & dead fish give me the creeps, In other words, you may have my space at any beach.
I live in a mostly rural area, surrounded by woods, with a huge creek running through my property & lots of creatures everywhere. Soooooooo my idea of "camping" is either sitting in my yard OR my preference of a Balcony off a luxury suite at the Marriott. I have done enough sight-seeing to last 3 lifetimes, so that's out too. (I must sound like a real ball of fun!)
I keep my budget so tight....I squeak when I move.
It's not for lack of "options" obviously, that I take no vacations. It's because I'm a very settled, comfortable home-girl and actually consider allotting a specific window of time dedicated to what's referred to as "vacation"as a waste of time....I just wing it and fly (or not) by the seat of my pants.
I suppose visiting family out of state qualifies as a vacation but in my old mind, it's simply "visiting family" In July, I'm flying to Montana to see my niece & family, then down to California to see #1 son & family......a few days each. I'm already anticipating the wonderful return home. I really am a dud by standards of adventurous people!! Whatever you decide to do...HAVE A BALL! Paula
I miss you too! I have kids, so almost everything these days has to be planned, even if I would prefer otherwise. My logical side always says spend as little money as possible, my fun side does not always agree!
Wow, Lake Erie! I like Avon Lake OH, where the city library sits near Erie and you can sit and watch ships go by. The library's been refurbished and maybe moved, tho. Hope it's still on the lake. Lovely memories.
Assuming I still had enough money left for food and travel, I think personally I would go for the beachfront hotel. I don't really love baking in the sun, but I love to sit on the balcony and watch/smell/listen to the ocean. My kids love the beach and because they are teenagers, they are old enough to go down to the beach by themselves. At a beachfront hotel they can come and go to the beach and pool as they please rather than waiting on the adults to take them somewhere. Also, if they forgot the sunscreen or their skim board, or wanted lunch, they can pop back up to the room to get it.
I will say that the last time we traveled with friends to the beach, their kids brought a video game console and those kids barely left their hotel room. So, if you or your kids prefer indoor activities, or if you and your family have lots of sight-seeing planned, or plan to go visit relatives in that town, or go to amusement parks, museums, etc., and don't really think you'll spend much time actually on the beach, the hotel in town might be the way to go.
I hope y'all have a great time!
What's a vacation? Haven't had one in so long I've forgotten. To answer your question, it would depend on how many days we spend there. The more days, the less I would be prone to go the beachfront route. For a couple of days, I probably would go the expensive route.
I've missed you Peeples. Good to see you back. Of course, I'm not one to talk because I've been so busy that I haven't been writing much either.
