I have been praying and waiting about a few things lately, and it seems I keep hearing (or reading) "Keep your eyes on Jesus." It just seems at times the waters are rough and dark and it is hard to hold that gaze.

We are all entering rough waters and it is going to get worse. We have to go through it to get to the other side.
We don't need to keep our eyes on Jesus.
We need to know that he is in our boat.
Let him be the pilot cause he knows tha way
Only then do we get to play on the other shore.

If Jesus Christ was in the boat....I'm pretty positive that there would be at least two people in the boat that would argue about what direction to go....and you would be lucky to reach the other side.

        lol

One of my favorite scriptures is Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord not to cause you harm but to give you a hope and a future."  When we are going through a storm, He is there in the midst of it ... Giving us a peace that surpasses all understanding but in order to walk in that peace ... our eyes must be upon Him. May He encompass you about with Songs of Deliverance.

      Psalm 23
      A psalm of David.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
      he restores my soul.

He guides me in paths of righteousness
      for his name's sake.

      Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death, [a]
      I will fear no evil,
      for you are with me;
      your rod and your staff,
      they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
      You anoint my head with oil;
      my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
      forever.

It's just something you have to do despite what your emotions are telling you to do.  It's kinda like food:  sometimes I don't feel like eating, but I know what'll eventually happen if I don't eat; I'll physically die.  The spiritual realm is very similar, and I'll spiritually die once I stop nourishing myself spiritually.

This is one of those things you just have to keep doing period.  I don't think doing it just because you wanna do it is sufficient to keep doing it because whatcha want is subject to change.

I feel you in a major way though -- at many times, the waters are rough and dark, making it hard to hold the gaze on Jesus.  I believe God seeks to make our life as simple as possible, and oftentimes, our minds get bored with the same thing and wanna switch stuff up every now and then; however, we have to make sure that switching up doesn't include taking our eyes off of Him because that's the only help we really have now that we're Christians.  I mean if you take your eyes off of Jesus, you're not putting yourself in the best place with the only true help you have -- not to mention you still got Satan at your heels since you're a threat to his kingdom; so why not go with the Greater One (I JN 4:4) all the way?  If you don't do that, you're lost because Satan's after you, and you ran away from your help -- now whatcha gon' do?

Way to taunt and make fun of someone who is obviously having a hard time.

UPStar there is actually a good physical example of your situation in the book of Mark 4:35.

    Hello Dear,

Keeping you eyes on Jesus means keeping your eyes focus on your heart searching for truth to walk in it's light.

For Jesus is truth from the heart.

When also you reach out to your neighbor with love you needs will be automatically met.

I believe it takes a devotion to Jesus.  listen to that still small voice, you hear on the inside.  i get up in the morning and keep a journal of my prayers and praise and things I share with the Lord.  Get gut honest with the Lord.  He already knows everything about you.  He will always meet you at your need.  I was once in despair, and spent some time in the bath tub just telling the Lord how I felt.  He appeared to me and gave me a message that I'll never forget.  The way He looked shocked me. I had a swollen face from crying, Jesus had felt everything I had gone through, as his face was like mine, swollen eyes etc.  He not only heard my cries, he went through them with me.  He is right there with you dear. He knows your heart.  just get gut honest with Him and he'll meet you.  HIs love is unfathomable, he wants a personal relationship with you.  i'll pray for you. God bless You

How do you keep your eyes on Jesus?

You have to patiently listen to His whispers, concentrate and be cross eyed.

At the end of the day I believe truly jesus know your Heart, he know the circumstanses you deal with on a daily basis, he know's that no one is perfect and will sin and that's why he died for us.

He see's the little thing you do to be a good person, to help out the world to be a better place. keep your belief in your savior and repent the devil and wrong doing and do the best you can to honor his name and what he stands for and stop making the same sins repeatedly, he see's and know your heart.
