I disagree with it, You don't change your persona in 30 days, I have made no personal attacks to my knowledge. Holy cow its like being put in the "Time out" corner.
When people act like naughty children, they must expect to be treated like naughty children
exactly, especially in light of using the words 'adults' in the subject heading.
Are you saying you were banned for 30 days, under another hubber name, for reasons unbeknownst to you?
Time outs can be quite effective, depending on who you are dealing with. I often times put myself on a time out honestly. Taking time for myself, to step back and just think, before I react.
I don't understand how there can be a ban when you're posting on the forum?
Flightkeeper, someone who is banned can open an account under a new name and last on the forums until they're "figured out".
I'm actually starting to wonder if all the Hubbers on here are actually just the same person - and that one person and I are the only two Hubbers there are.
I have to say, I have wondered!! I've seen actual threads, as you have, with conversations going on with various alter egos...
talking back to each other, do they think we're stupid??
No, they think they're being terribly clever and funny.
Don't look so innocent ediggity. We know it was your alterego
What would you like your punishment to be? A permanent ban? Zero tolerance won't take you far. Maybe a punishment any adult can understand: monetary repercussions. Hubpages could increase their cut of your Adsense impressions from 40% to 50% for a month! Would you feel better then? No, of course not.
Running a forum can be incredibly frustrating. I can't imagine how much worse it is on one like Hubpage's where people don't even respect the ban system enough not to create fifteen new accounts to keep posting right after they get banned. As someone whose run very large communities in the past, circumventing a ban by creating a new account was a great way to ensure never being welcomed back.
Take the ban and grit your teeth. I'm honestly a little shocked by how casual people are about the fact that they're posting under a new account to avoid a ban.
Everyone should act like adults and sometimes when they act like children , no offense what else can you do? A ban is better then being booted completely off of a site, would you not agree?
@ Lisa HW you are to funny!!! lolololo
A simple IP ban could be assigned, then you wouldn't be able to log into any of the accounts.
What is so alluring about this forum that people need to create new names just to continue posting?
Lisa, I'm real, I just pinched myself to check
I was banned for 3 days, I know what I did and I have apologized to the person I did it too. But it is only three days. If you are just making more identities just because you got banned then I'm sorry. but it's only 3 days...not the end of the world. And like Maddie said on the other thread you never contacted her back. If you wanted to know then talk to her, I am sure they would let you know.
Stripping out the emotion, this seems to be what's happening.
someone owns a web site that has functionality that allows people to contribute via forums. That same person sets rules for what they find acceptable on their property. They have a commercial interest so perhaps don't want to ban people who break these rules permanently, but rather warn them that they insist these rules adhered to in their 'virtual' home.
You're not being punished, you're simply being reminded that if you want to contribute to the site there are rules you need to abide by. Fortunately, there are almost countless online communities that have differing rules, so rather than bemoan your status in a community whose rules you don't like, you have the option to choose one you do like.
Please see my answers on the other thread on this subject. No need to have two parallel discussions, so closing this thread.

My kid decided to click on adsense ads for two reasons: 1.) an effort to help the old man get clicks....2.) a genuine interest in the ad "build your own solar panels" I know he did this, because he showed me the "cool advertisement" that pops up. I told him not to do it again. I...

Awake in the wrong hours of the 24 hour clock, I was on a forum I drop by now and then. They run a really funny forum game whereby you dream up a very silly reason to ban the person above you.As we sometimes see bans and folks don't get the why - let's make our own up. But - no nastiness, it really...

justification? If not like me. Someone can arbitrarily ban anyone for unjustified reason! What is the mean of defense for someone that is banned? Why can't he/she face a trial? Are we a microcosm of democracy or not?

It's the same old story in the UK coming up to Guy Fawkes Night - an elderly woman in a small town near to my village has sustained serious eye injuries after a firework was thrown at her while she stood at a bus stop! She is in the local hospital and it's still not clear whether or not her sight...
