The mind of a Marine and The mind of The Messiah---A view =)

    Mind of Messiah =

No greater love does a man have but to sacrifice his life for his friends and fellow man, no matter who they are.

    Mind of Marine =

No greater duty above the sacrificing of his own life for the lives of his fellow Marines and the lives of others.

Mind of Messiah = Always Faithful

Mind of Marine = Semper Fidelis

    Perhaps both defy logic.

      They both defy logic.
Humans are defying logic all the time. (Marines are humans.)
That's why the world is such a mess

      Messiah is an Idealism
so it defies logic per se.

Untill YOU experience combat and watch your brothers die around you your opinion means NOTHING!How can you apply a philosophical bullshit statement to a Pragmatic experience where you die if you stop to THINK let alone be logical?

What does all your comment has to do with my post ?????

And if you are a marine and in combat you didn't stop to think or use your logic, it's a miracle you're alive !

So don't give me that kind of BS to me !

When a Marine goes through boot he is trained to go on Automatic,no thinking or logic required or do you suppose we wave a white flag so we can think of the logical thing to do.Again,if you haven't been there don't act the expert.Your statement that "marines are human, thats why the world is such a mess" is an Insult to the Good men who gave there LIVES so you could have the freedom to engage in blind and insensitive statements. And yes madam I am most assuredly a Marine.

              I said 'humans'
and in brackets , 'marines'. And I said 'marines for marinwalways, of course!

But, isn't there something to be learned?

Then, if you don't learn- Aren't you forcing yourself to be ignorant on purpose?

All knowledge, regardless of what form it comes in is to be absorbed and understood for what it is?

No knowledge gained from learning can be useless.

      1. Shadesbreath profile image76
Shadesbreathposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Your point relies on the term knowledge. I agree with you in the general principle, but not in the particular application. An intelligent person can sift through the dross and find value in most anything.  However, the ability to do so does not make the dross itself less, uh, drossy.  An unintelligent person, unfortunately, can't spot dross for dross and typically, well, they usually embarass themselves, albeit, by the grace of God, often without realizing it; the irony being that "you don't know what you don't know" even when discussing knowledge itself.

        1. Cagsil profile image70
Cagsilposted 14 years agoin reply to this

You make an assumption that at least some people are unintelligent.

Who are you to judge whether or not someone else's intelligence is anything other than what it is? When you make assumptions on unrealized information, it's usually wrong, as you are now.

Learning is the process in which we gain knowledge, "knowledge being everything we know" and happens to be reinforced by understanding, "understanding is the wisdom to understand(to realize what it means) everything you know".

This is the only way to remain true and honest with oneself and be on firm foundation for forming beliefs, which are based on factual truths, mankind has as a collective.

You live your life in any other manner and you'll stumble thru life, all the way to the end.

          1. Shadesbreath profile image76
Shadesbreathposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Are you saying all people are of equal intelligence?

I never said I judge anyone's intelligence as anything other than what it is.  Observing behavior is not passing judgement.

I'll grant you this point, even though "usually" weakens your point, being unquantifiable and all, and the phrase "assumptions on unrealized information" doesn't actually mean anything (it's like your thesaurus threw up on  you right there).

You'd have to A) identify what it was that I said that you are saying is "wrong" and then B) prove it to be wrong, neither of which has occured.

            Yes, and...?

You almost have an complete idea here between this part and the one above, but the connection isn't made. Still, I think you're going for an overall positive message, so I won't dissagree, but  I still have to call this a non-sequitur.

            1. Cagsil profile image70
Cagsilposted 14 years agoin reply to this

It's obvious, there is a positiveness to what I said. How ever, when people make an assumption? It means 'unrealized information' or knowledge isn't known in it's entirety.

Therefore- "assumptions on unrealized information" is a properly understood statement if seen in the context for which it is written and not how you come to perceive it.

You interpreting my words is useless, without asking to me to explain, because your individual faith is going to force you to ask more questions. I don't speak cryptically or hide what I am trying to explain.

I live by my conscience, I am always honest in my actions and I protect and love mankind's people and their potential. All I seek is to spread knowledge.

              1. Shadesbreath profile image76
Shadesbreathposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Then it's redundant.  An assumption by definition requires an absence of information, ignorance.  You are basically saying "assumptions based on ignorance."  That's like saying "heat based on increased thermal energy" or saying "wet with moisture."

If you don't speak cryptically or hide what you are trying to say, why will my efforts to interpret your words be "useless?"  Regardless of whatever my "individual faith" is, if your message is clear and well made I should be able to understand it, whether I agree, disagree or some of each.

That's great, and I'm totally with you on all of it except the knowledge part.  You've brought that up a time or two now.  I'm still waiting to see what all this knowledge you have to spread is. I like knowledge.

Are you not paying attention to everything I've posted?

I'm not surprised. How ever, you have the nerve to try to interpret what I say. You're pathetic too.

Why don't you read everything I've posted here and other place, and get more information. Everything you need to know, I have already said, somewhere....if you're that interested, then seek out the knowledge yourself. I don't need to explain myself or what I say to you, when I've already put the knowledge you seek into the world.

Guide yourself and go find it.

                  1. Shadesbreath profile image76

I was paying attention to what you wrote here. I guess I assume you intend to say what you mean when you write stuff.  Silly me. Clearly I am supposed to be bedazzled by obscurities and nebulous pseudo-logic.

I haven't tried to interpret anything.  More like tried to make sense of it.  Vagaries and random assembly of multisyllabic nonsense does not make tea leaves of your text.

If you want to put on the Internet Messiah costume, that's fine, but name calling will blow some of the magic off your mystery. You can't claim to have all this knowledge that you're putting into the world for the humble masses hungering for your beneficent gift of wisdom and then let yourself get so easily rattled by someone who asks a few questions and points out some inconsistencies or omissions in the things you write to the point where you start calling names.
