Most Sinister Opening Lines of a Song

   Try as I might, for the last two days I just can't seem to get these lines out of my head:
   
   "Please allow me to introduce myself
   I'm a man of wealth and taste."
   
   These are the opening lines from The Rolling Stones' Sympathy for the Devil.
   
   I think it's because the evil seems to be of the urbane and sophisticated variety rather than the usual obvious incarnation of the devil as horned and scarlet which worries me most but I can't quite put my finger on it.
   
   Is there anybody out there similarly perturbed?
   Please share your lines here.

      It is because its not really the little red devil we all know. Its the devil and evil that is inside all man that is being explored here in these lyrics.
      
      Its like the guy saying it is boasting and only cares about himself. Would probably stop at nothing to get where he wants in life.

   I agree with you. that song is very sinister. The devil as you put it, is more shifty than the red little guy that sits on one shoulder. He is atractive and conniving.

   I find it sinister because it reads like he's apologizing but the true feelings come through in his voice if you listen to the original recording.

    The meaning of sinister is something that sounds evil or ominous and threatening.
    I hardly think "The hills are  alive with the sound of Music" comes under this meaning. This line came from a beautiful musical which had a sound called "The Sound of Music", from a musical by the same name. There is certainly nothing sinister about this. I used to sing this song all the time and I think Rogers and Hammerstein would also be upset if someone said that this was a sinister line.
    The person who wrote this should know the meaning of a word before answering a question concerning it.

    Scott Walker is very intense either musically or lyrically. He's different from anything I've heard yet. Listen, for example, to some songs of his albums "Tilt" and "Drift", which are considered his best. One song from the latter, called "Cue", is fully published on Youtube and it could serve as an example.
