Try as I might, for the last two days I just can't seem to get these lines out of my head:
"Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste."
These are the opening lines from The Rolling Stones' Sympathy for the Devil.
I think it's because the evil seems to be of the urbane and sophisticated variety rather than the usual obvious incarnation of the devil as horned and scarlet which worries me most but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Is there anybody out there similarly perturbed?
Please share your lines here.
It is because its not really the little red devil we all know. Its the devil and evil that is inside all man that is being explored here in these lyrics.
Its like the guy saying it is boasting and only cares about himself. Would probably stop at nothing to get where he wants in life.
great now i have it stuck in my head too.
I want your ugly
I want your disease
I want your everything
As long as it’s free
by lady gaga is quite sinister
To the point of trying to find another song to sing. Maybe a nursery rhyme might do the trick.
i eat politicians for breakfast ILL BILL
Not really sinister but he means well
I agree with you. that song is very sinister. The devil as you put it, is more shifty than the red little guy that sits on one shoulder. He is atractive and conniving.
Sitting on a park bench eyeing little girls with bad intent.
Aqualung-Jethro Tull
Got a better one?
"Oh Sweetness . . . Sweetness I was only joking when I said
'I'd like to smash every tooth in your head'."
The Smiths
"Bigmouth Strikes Again"
I find it sinister because it reads like he's apologizing but the true feelings come through in his voice if you listen to the original recording.

"hey mister
i really like your daughter
i'd like to eat her like ice cream
maybe dip her in chocolate"
Custom- "Hey Mister"
The meaning of sinister is something that sounds evil or ominous and threatening.
I hardly think "The hills are alive with the sound of Music" comes under this meaning. This line came from a beautiful musical which had a sound called "The Sound of Music", from a musical by the same name. There is certainly nothing sinister about this. I used to sing this song all the time and I think Rogers and Hammerstein would also be upset if someone said that this was a sinister line.
The person who wrote this should know the meaning of a word before answering a question concerning it.
Hate to break it to you but I think sneak was joking

I'm going to cut you open like a fucking pig, peel away the flesh and drain out your veins. This time you will not forget the images of those you have denied.
The impaler by winds of plague
This is the year where hope fails you
The test subjects run the experiments
And the bastards you know, is the hero you hate
But cohesing is posssible if we strive

Limp Bizkit
I would have to agree with the 'sympathy for the devil' lyrics.
such a classic 'sinister' song.
"I'm gonna kill that woman
Yeah, my baby left me this morning
And I don't care now, I don't care what the people say"
Nick Cave.
How's about Run For Your Life by The Beatles?
Well I'd rather see you dead, little girl
Than to be with another man
You better keep your head, little girl
Or I won't know where I am
There is also another infamous track by the fab four - Helter Skelter - which is supposed to have "inspired" Charles Manson.
It's not the opening line, but I always thought this bit of musical lyric was pretty darn creepy:
"How could you go? When you know how I need you...to beat to a pulp on a Saturday night. Oooh Babe. Don't leave me now..."
From "Don't Leave Me Now" on The Wall, by Pink Floyd.
The legend lives on from the chippawa on down of the big lake they call gichy goomy.......
Scott Walker is very intense either musically or lyrically. He's different from anything I've heard yet. Listen, for example, to some songs of his albums "Tilt" and "Drift", which are considered his best. One song from the latter, called "Cue", is fully published on Youtube and it could serve as an example.
Sanity has erased the artist, but the first line of 'It's my Party and I'll cry if I want to' has always haunted me -
'Nobody knows where my Johnny has gone,'
"Dead I am the one, Exterminating son
Slipping through the trees, strangling the breeze"
- Dragula by Rob Zombie
How about:
"Finished with my woman 'cos she couldn't help me with my mind"
Paranoid by Black Sabbath
"For what it's worth" by Buffalo Springfield.
There's something happening here.
What it is ain't exactly clear.
There's a man with a gun over there.
telling me I've got to beware.
I think it's time we stop, hey what's
that sound? Everybody look what's going down.

I'm sitting here listening to Stryper, a band I've been a fan of since the 1980s, and "Sing-Along Song" comes on. Suddenly I realized... I *hate* that song with a passion. It's so cheesy and nauseating that it gives me a pain in my chest. Even our most beloved, favorite artists can't hit...
