    Hi friends,

I have been experiencing approximately 40% decrease in traffic since last two days. Has anyone else been experiencing the same thing or it is because of the holiday season and there are less visitors to everyone's hubs?

It gets worse everyday.  Wishing there was a magic traffic genie!

Oh My God, now it has decreased to around 60%. I do not understand what is the problem.

Mine is holding pretty steady, but I don't have massive amounts to begin with.

Seems reasonable to say that it is probably because of the holidays, decorating the home, traveling etc. Good chance there just isn't much searching in comparison to other times of year, wait till after christmas and see what happens. If the traffic does not surge back up then worry smile

I'm starting to see the first signs of some google traffic loss, down about 5% from yesterday I think. But it's to be expected.

This is why I've been telling people to get your post-Christmas and January hubs going. Even with those, your traffic will fall a lot. It's just that Christmas is such a great shopping season.

I've baked some chocolate cupcakes with peppermint sprinkles to keep up my spirits. And then I took Relache's advice yesterday and bought some eggnog and whiskey. Sometimes I get a little depressed when traffic tanks.

    soni2006posted 14 years ago

But this is serious for me. I am getting a huge loss of traffic instead of some loss.

I am not sure what is happening. Will wait for one more day and see.

Me too. It started out after Thanksgiving and keeps getting worse.

That's right. It all (I mean low adsense earnings) started after Thanksgiving day and things have never been the same again.

One more thing to add, right now mostly all arrows on my hubs have turned below suggesting significant decrease in traffic whereas around three days back I saw everything moving up and turning red and got significant increase in traffic of about 25% or more.

My traffic has gone down about 20% over the last week too. I've put it down to Christmas. People are out a lot more with work colleagues, friends and family and just generally busy with other things this near to christmas. I am expecting my how to tell if you're pregnant hub to get pretty busy after new year!

Try not to worry Soni - I'm sure things will get back to normal after the holidays......and then we'll have Google Caffeine to worry about instead - lol smile

There was a glitch in the system soni - I got excited too, but when i compared my google analytics stats they were completely different.

Mine is down a bit, but I figure everyone's out doing holiday stuff. I'm counting on mine going up when the holidays end and everyone is bored and depressed and looking for something good to read online.

Plus I'm getting glitchy stuff when I try to log in to hubs. Either the page cannot load or there is nothing on my profile etc. It has been going on all week and getting a mite frustrating.

I just tried to log in and got the message about being down for routine maintenance. Very frustrating.

That's why there is a string of code across the top of my profile - and no picture or stats - and no list of hubs when I click account. It was a good decision to check out the forums after all LOL big_smile

I have been experiencing some weirdness with my HubPages statistics as well. In particular, there have been larger than normal discrepancies between the impression numbers shown on HP and on AdSense.

CTR has also been very poor. Others have commented on this as well. CTR has remained stable on my other sites, so for me, this is only a HP thing.

I think all this may be related to the new HP upgrades. Hopefully things will return to normal once they are done.

Soni, my traffic and adsense earnings have been terrible since Dec. 1! For example, my adsense earnings for Nov. 30 was $12. For the Dec. days, however, it's been around $2-$3 per day - sometimes less than $1!! I cannot imagine what has happened. And I've even added more hubs. I just don't get it.

Nelle, would you please pass me a cupcake? Maybe it would help calm me down. lol

Yep... Traffic will decrease till about mid January or so. Perk up for Valentine's day, then decrease a bit till it evens out again. It happens.

My traffic has been goin right up. Altho I had tons of red arrows last week and now I've got one blue one. But I think most of my traffic is coming from my xmas hubs, so I'm a bit worried about what will happen after xmas.

It's terrible for me, too. A 75% drop in page views. Three weeks ago my articles here and at another place had about the same number of page views, but Hubpages was making more money. Now, that other site has over 10,000 page views compared to my hubs 2500..... very discouraging.

My traffic is up slightly this week over last week. AdSense has remained steady. Amazon is still moving, but I expect that to drop off any day.

With the stats disabled here, it's really hard to see what's going on. (Quite frankly those are more important to me this week than the new Hubfeed thing - during this most critical sales period.)

My Google analytics, is showing a softening. I have a few niche sites that are picking up steam - as they do every year. So my non-hubpages stuff looks pretty normal.

I had terrible traffic in November, but then my usual patterns returned in December.  Web interactions is far from being an exact science.

The best strategy I can suggest is to make sure you have a wide variety of Hubs on a diverse range of topics.  If you build too much in any one direction, you then run the risk of having a large group of them open to being influenced by the same type of loss of interest/traffic all at the same time.

Excellent advice, i read alot of hubs about writing hubs, then i started writing them, and variety is exactly what i offer!

  31. Randy Godwin profile image61

I do not think this slow traffic is just due to Christmas.  Other holidays never affected the traffic like this before.  At least in my experience with my small amount of hubs.  No matter what topic, it is down roughly 60%.

My hub traffic has been decreasing for the past 3 months, but it has mainly been internal traffic.  On the other hand, my blog traffic is up 16% with a lot more coming from Google.

Men for someone with more than 300 hubs to be complaining of traffic, then it's really serious and the decrease is eating my hubs and I can see that. Am not panicking though, Just gotta publish more hubs and see what happens. But I think some people do christmas shopping online??

I saw red arrows for 2 days, but now I have many blue ones. However, I normally do not a lot of traffic in the first place. Therefore, I do not pay attention to the percentage.

From Christmas on, there are too many football games on the telly that occupy people's time.  Then there's the Super Bowl.  I would think that January would be a blah month, but I've never been through a full cycle.

I do agree that the traffic seems to be down generally -- it's a relative thing, though, considering my small number of hubs.

I read an interesting stat that a huge percentage of people have done at least some of their Christmas shopping online this year.  Given that there isn't time now for postage before Christmas - I think that ship has sailed.
