   That would be Carbon Cap and Trade or Carbon Cap and Tax.
   Cap and Trade, or cap and Tax, is a wealth redistribution scam. What it does is tax the poor and creates huge profits for the wealthy! It is something that Enron would be involved in if it had survived it's scam on the American public.
   
   The way it works is government sets limits on the amount of carbon dioxide a company can emit. If the company wants or needs to emit more than the allowance, it can do so by buying carbon "credits". Carbon "credits" are the amount of "savings" a "green" project could produce as judged by the UN. For example if a company is building a windmill in Brazil the UN would assign a number of "credits" to that project which can then be traded for cash on an exchange. Right now carbon is the fastest growing commodity in the world with trading centered in London. Us brokerages are wanting this because they stand to make billions, environmentalists want it because they think it's a way of slowing global warming. Actually most scientists agree that the savings from this proposal will be inconsequential. Nobody really knows if the "credits" or carbon savings assigned by the UN will actually be realized, and there is great potential here for fraud and a collapse similar to the mortgage crisis. The right hates this bill because the carbon credits that companies will have to buy will be passed along to consumers so you'll see higher electric bills, higher fuel prices and higher prices on just about anything that is moved by truck, train, or plane.
   The republicans should NOT vote in favor of any bill that advances Carbon cap and tax

      Poppa, here's one we can agree on. Carbon trading is okay in theory but so far isn't working in practice. Too many of the projects that are purchased are phony. The banksters are salivating over the proposals because it would mean billions for them.

   It seems Obama also has ties to a Chicago company that trades carbon credits! He may even have a profit motive for pushing it through. That might explain why he is willing to allow drilling for oil off the coast, something he campaigned against, in order to get this through before the 2010 elections! Things that make you go Hmmmmm....
   
   I'm sure the lefty wing nuts here will be out defending his ideas any minute now!

   What about the Cantwell-Collins plan?  Wouldn't that be more in line with what everyone wants?  Isn't that what Obama talked about in his campaign?
   
   Politicians flip flop on things a lot - it's what they do to fix the bad choices they've made in the past that matters more, to me at least.

      I'm skeptical of any carbon reduction plan and global warming in general.
      Let's say global warming is true and a result of mankind's emissions. In order to achieve the cuts required to save us from disaster would itself be disastrous. The measures proposed wouldn't even have an impact.
      
      Now if we later learn that the warming is part of a natural cycle and mankind has had minimal effect we will have wrought great economic stress on the multitude for naught.
      
      Besides, I think emissions will come down out of economic necessity. We're running out of oil with peak production expected in 2014. In 50 years we'll be producing 1/2 the oil we're using now. Other forms of energy will have to be used to make up that difference.

   Actually he hasn't flip flopped at all.  The Federal Government has been approving off shore drilling leases for some time now under Obama.  Today it is just hitting a bit harder in the mainstream media.
   
   Obama is a liar.
   
   He is a puppet of the Wealthy Elite.
   
   People will say the Oil Companies are against Cap and Tax and spending money to fight Obama.  But that's just another Obama Lie.
   
   Cap and Tax or not the Oil Companies will get their profits.
   
   The Exxon Valdez Spill... finally exhausted this year after 21 years.
   
   Of the $5 Billion fine... the amount paid ZERO!!!
   
   They paid a minimal $300 million for clean up.
   
   Cap and Tax all you want... they cost of Oil will just go up.
   
   Obama is a Fraud.  He is a paid puppet and will do what every the Wealthy Elite want.
   
   Obama isn't smart enough to dream up all these scheme that people accuse him of... think about that.
   
   Cap and Tax, Health Care, Micro Chipping... all in place before Obama... his job is just to tell the Masses that the Kool-Aid is safe to drink.
   
   Americans are pretty ignorant.
   
   If you look at the way the Wealthy Elite are "Managing" the worlds fresh drinking water... you'll see the frame work for the damage Cap and Tax will do under the Guise of Green House Gasses.

      Exxon has paid $500 million to 32,000 Alaskans, fishermen, and landowners affected by the accident.
      
      The Supreme Court reduced the punitive damages, ruling that they were out of proportion with the compensatory damages. Punitive damages were set at a one to one ratio with the compensatory damages.
      
      Exxon has already paid more than $3 billion in fines, cleanup expenses, and other costs.
      
      There is still an open legal challege related to the captain of the vessel.

         Whichever, we as a country will be almost fully in federal control if the cap and trade bill is allowed to pass, or if the EPA is allowed to act on an Executive Order to regulate Greenhouse Gas.
         
         I firmly believe, whether it be a Democrat or Republican at the helm, that the current cap and trade bill, or any other conception of it, is strictly a revenue generating and socializing measure that the American voters are clueless about.
         
         The most disgusting part of it is a huge devotion to yet more HUD assistance, as if we haven't suffered enough economically with bad loan programs we've had to step up for.
         
         The rich will trade their carbon credits and emission allowances and the poor and middle class will suffer.  The class difference will become ever greater as things like the UN blessed American cap and trade is in place and accepted as the years go by.
         
         Under this bill we provide huge sums of money to other countries as well as micro managing the building of future housing in the USA down to where the plug in the garage MUST be for an electric vehicle.
         
         They should be telling us where our toilet should be and telling us to recycle our own waste - no doubt to onerous and much less revenue generating.

   Has anyone considered that he may being doing what is best for our country? Remember, he has a much greater access to information than ANYONE on hubpages. Ohh, no that COULDNT be the case. Intelligence demands compromise at times. THINK about everything involved, jobs, oil, energy independence, our economy. My goodness, I'm ALL for saving the enviroment, but I agree with him. It's foolish to think that you can just switch to a new energy policy without boosting what you have availibe. THINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Yeah, I guess that trillion dollar stimulus bill that didn't stimulate anything but more taxes for future Americans and that billions dollar jobs bill that so far hasn't lowered the unemployment rate and hasn't stimulated hiring by businesses, yeah it would make sense to him that would be best for the country to pass those laws; if you're a socialist bent on having government control the lives of people, that would make sense to him.

         First: I am neither socialist nor democrate. Second: your right, the bill will cost trillons of dollars. BUT, the way the bill is layed out, there will not be anything added to the deficit, of course there is always the reality of error. At least they have implemented a plan for change that HAS one positive outcome. That is more than anyone else has been willing to do. They want to stand around and complain and suggest nothing but the same ole thing which is not conducive to the United States or it's citizens. Kinda sounds like what your doin, go figure! Also, you can't expect to implement policies this large and see the results immediatly' If you think that things that large happen that fast, your a fool. Give it another 6 months and then say the same thing. If your right I'll agree with you. Till then, were worlds apart.
