Grown kids moving back home

   Have you had your children leave home only to return again. Was it a positive or negative experience?
   
   I have had all four of my children move out and then move home while they started their families. For me, it was definitely a learning experience. Trickier when they bring their new spouse and add a couple of children.

      I find it amazing how many people have to move back in with their parents. It makes me wonder if the spending habits are worse today, or just the cost of living is so much more. Because you didn't hear of kids in their twenties and thirties moving back in with their parents back then. Or maybe I'm wrong. I guess I'm not that familiar with the custom back then.

   Ya know, I had to do that a few years back.  I had just gotten out of a divorce, the ex got everything, so I was left holding my ..er.. thing, standing out in the cold.  At the time, I really didn't have any option but to return, crawling and begging, to my parents. 
   
   The kicker, I was making close to 70,000 a year.  Still, that wasn't enough for me to start all over again.  I've always managed my money pretty well, try to keep on top of my budget.  I track my spending, and faithfully invest into my retirement accounts.  Hell, I've done that since I was 19..
   
   But, the economy just seems to be getting worse and worse.  I remember paying $400 a month rent when I first moved out on my own, now that same place, 12 years later, is going for 1300 a month. 
   
   All it takes is one moderate financial disaster to send someone spinning out of control.  I'm almost scared to have children because of all of this.
   
   Still, it happens.. we can only do the best we can.

   i moved in and out of my moms house 3 or 4 times ... it was interesting but i wouldnt change it for nothing... my mama is my world

   Its a balancing act for sure. You still want to parent but have to realize they are adults themselves. However, a lot of families are seeing it as beneficial now as parents get older there is someone there to care for them and it helps the new family out to with babysitting etc. I saw a report not to long ago on one family that has 4 generations in one home.
   
   The aging parents live on the first floor with their own apt, the parents live on the second floor with their children who are still growing and they created an apt in the attic for their son n his wife and their grandchild. I thought it was kind of neat cause it goes back to the family unit helping the family unit.

   When a child is at their late teen or just started thinking that they are grown up, they become so involved in their own like that they have very little time to think about their parents. But as soon as they become the parents, feel the pleasure in watching each and every activity of their little ones; they start to understand the feeling of their own parents! And if not impossible they might then reunion with their parents! This is natural and also positive in my opinion.
