Some people think that dreams have their own dimension and that the dead can cross into that dimension to tell you something. It's not uncommon for people to have dreams about the recently deceased. Perhaps this is just an internal way to resolve issues that were left unaccounted for on their demise, but maybe it's more than that. Maybe the dead can tell you things in your dreams. There's no way to know for sure.
An old wives tale is; if you dream of the dead, there will be a birth in the family.
Im curious to know what that tale is........
Alan Cherian Rajan, You know this was just something handed down from my mother to me and I'm sure she must have heard it from someone in her older generations, You made me curious too. I found (Birth): http://www.corsinet.com/trivia/scary4.html
This happens to me so many times. My grandpa passed away in 2001 but somehow I feel I am still so attached with him. Sometimes I even forget that he is no more. I think people keep on dreaming about dead people if they were so attached to them and the feeling or the truth that the person doesn't exist anymore is hard to accept. I think we do accept consciously that our loved ones are gone if they are dead, however, it is hard to accept the fact subconsciously and therefore we dream about them. I am not sure whether this is 100% correct but this is what happens with me at times.
It might be just a way of how much we were loving that person. If our thoughts were always about them, we will keep dreaming them.
Hi there
Well since this question was 3 years ago I have to ask if anything came from that dream.
Myself I don't believe in dream books unless I have to look up something I am led to.
Dreams are given for a reason therefore it means different things to different people.
To me any dream of death means a new start, a transition a wedding or birth.
To my experience it always has turned out that way.
Have a good day
Laurie
Huh, don't get how that goes with my response. But seems a few agree. Anyway y would u say that. Pls don't b rude if u don't like my answer or others, don't answer with one rude comment. Thank you.
They are trying to tell you something that you need to be wise.
Likely it depends on who it is and what you are dreaming. I have dreamed about my SO and my mother, once in the same dream. I think it was a way of holding on to their memory.
In my case, dead bodies kept showing up in my dreams. I did not have any personal waking association to them. What I did have, was someone in my life that represented a "dead" relationship. I needed to cut myself off from this person. Once I did, I stopped having reoccurring dreams with dead bodies.
As all the answers go to show, it all depends on your personal association to the dead in your dreams. There is never one "right" answer when it comes to dreams and their interpretation.
It doesn't mean anything it only means that you have thought a lot about dead people.
I have no idea I've never experienced such a phenomena, but perhaps it means there are stronger forces abound.
Did you mean just dream about random dead people or people you know because I'm getting a bit of a Sixth Sense vibe to this question?
If it's people you know then I would imagine it's your mind's way of connecting to them because you either miss or love them. If it's people you don't really know, then perhaps there's something deeper within the subconscious that's influencing your thought process.
I think one dreams of a dead man/woman,then he is strongly missing the person.........
As far as i am concern about this ,we doing this because some where we are very much connected to them when they alive. And also due to some suggestions and work they want to do or said to us ,is one of the most important goals in our life. That actually we want to persuie for them for giving them a kind of tribute. And also sometimes is due to their adivice, suggestions and valuable contribution they made in society or in our life also the reason of dreaming somtime...
According to Superstitions about Dreams and Meanings of Dreams in the Unusual Trivia Collection if you dream of death it's a sign of a birth, if you dream of birth, it's a sign of death. If you should dream of a deceased person and this person speaks only to you, pay close attention to what the spirit is telling you as it could be very important to you. To dream of seeing a deceased person is normally a dream of warning, and it tells you that the influences around you at this time do not bode well for your affairs, and you should not enter into any binding contracts or verbal agreements. To dream of an owl denotes a narrow escape from desperate illness or death. The time of day when you had a dream is important as well. If you dream at night it's a devil's delight, and if you dream in the morning, you need to heed the angels' warning.
It depends upon the type of dreams you are having. If you are talking and seeing a dead person then it symbolizes that you are hanging around the wrong crowd. there is a whole lot of negativity around you. it may also indicate a material loss and alternatively, a dead relative or friend in your dream symbolizes how terribly you miss them.
The dead don't die, which you'll find is more than obvious after you read a few of my hubs.
Dreams in which dead people appear are sometimes expressive of our attempts to deal with our feelings, guilt or anger in connection with the person who died; or our own feelings about death. When someone close to us dies we go through a period of change from relating to them as an external reality, to meeting and accepting them as alive in our memories and inner life.
But dead people can simply be people from our past. Considering that the major part of our learning and experience occur in relationship to other people, such learning and experience can be represented by characters from the past. For instance a first boyfriend in a dream would depict all the emotions and struggles we met in that relationship, and what we learned from it or took away from it that still influences present relationships. Therefore dreaming often of people we knew in the past would suggest that past experiences or lessons are very active at the moment, or we are reviewing those areas of our life. A woman who had emigrated to Britain from a very different cultural background frequently dreamt, even twenty years afterwards, of people she knew in her native country. This shows her still very much in contact with her own cultural values and experiences.
I just had this very same type of dream in reverse, and I would really like to know what it means as well. I myself was dead in my dream, and I was a ghost. As a ghost I approached two of my co-workers in my dream, and spoke to each of them trying to explain to them that I was really a ghost, and that I was alright. I even touched one of my co-workers hands, and showed him how his hand went right through mine. I still remember this dream as though it just happened. I'm even thinking about telling these two co-workers of mine about this dream. What do some of you good people out there think about this?
From a psychological perspective this probably just means that you have had a lot of interaction/worry/preoccupation with death recently which has reached your sub-conscious while you sleep. The idea that dreams portray deeper meanings to our "true self conscious" is a very Freudian perspective which is no longer a valid continuum of thought throughout the world of modern psychology. Freud based his theories on the non-scientific studies of the mentally ill rather than taking a valid scientific approach to both normal and abnormal minds.
I think when you are dreaming about someone who has been died, you are missing your loved ones or someone to whom you were so close. It make you feel bad and emotional and take you to your past where you spend each and every memory of life to whom you are dreaming of. Some people find it difficult to control their emotions while they dreaming and some of them just try to cut out because they are aware of the principles of life- I mean death is a part of life and each and everything in life has its own end. Losing someone hurt you but you can't do anything instead of some kind of painful thoughts. It brings all of us what we can call a sudden shock.
Depend of what they want from you and who they were to you at life, usually if they want you to come after them it is not so good, but if they are watching you and want to say something that means that they do care about you, kinda angels....anyway it depend of what kind of dream you had.
WELL, keep dreaming about dead person usually have only reason.
In fact it is because the dead person was very expensive for you when he was not dead
It depends on the people. If it's total strangers, you may be spending too much time with electronics. If it's people you know, you are probably trying to escape being alive.
I have always been told it means there will be a birth in your family. Sure it is an old wives tale but pretty accurate actually in my experience. Sometimes a dream is nothing but a dream.
From a metaphisical point of view, dreams are connected to omens and subliminal messages.Maybe you have a phobia connected to death or maybe the loss of a loved one affected you to the point of altering your subconciousness.
In my point of view I think dreaming of dead people is just because you are missing them but may be em not right, there is many other reasons and I want to say that our thought is not enough to think about this and get a certain reason.
I'm a recent psychology graduate and study after study has shown that dreams have no underlying meanings. They are not subconscious thoughts or feelings, they are simply your brain firing at night trying to calm down and rest and repair. The way you see it in dreams is nothing to do with what your subconscience is thinking etc. Unless you believe in GOd intervening, they have no significance.
This is a very good question, and it just recently pertained to me. I just dreamed about a friend, who was a co-worker of mine, who retired around four years ago & died just 5 months ago. In the dream I couldn't hear or understand what he was trying to say to me. So I told him in any future dreams to write down on a piece of paper anything that he wanted to say to me, so that I could answer him back. We will see if this leads to anything more down the road. I will be sure to include any updates here. Stay Tuned.
I have thought about this most significantly and indeed toiled with it for some time. If one keeps dreaming about dead people does it not conclude that they are dead yet not indeed? In other words, there is some unfinished "business" with this relation.
A dead person is nothing but a person from past. So if a person is dreaming about dead people, it means he is remembering his past things.
I think I'm going to have to watch that movie again now!
You can see dead people because of many reasons. To see close dead relative or a friend is a sign that the family of the deceased needs your help.
To see your dead parents or grandparents is usually is sign of a warning that the dreamer is about to make a grave mistake.
Grandparents in a dream or father can be a sign that the dreamer needs some important advice.
It should be interesting to note that to hear the news of death of any grandparents or grandparent is a sign of beginning of a new progressive relationship.
To take something from a dead person or to give something to him is also a sign that the family of the deceased needs help or advice.
To see a dead actor or actress is a dream is a sign that you are being deceived by someone.
However it should be noted that sometimes dreams in which dead people appear are sometimes expressive of our attempts to deal with our feelings, guilt or anger in connection with the person who died; or our own feelings about death.

I think that it stands for an attachment I possibly have for the Dead One. I may also have a feeling that I was directly, or indirectly responsible for the Death.
It could simply be a matter of missing them. Or your brain analyzing your feelings about them.
It shows your are not disconnected from your loved one.once dead all ties must be severed. The memories may remain but life goes on.close the final chapter and keep moving forward
It means your dreaming mind is running out of interesting things to dream about regarding the people around you who are alive. Try and convince one of your friends to climb a tree in public and your dreams will likely change drastically.
You might be receiving messages from the supernatural world.
For me, it means that I missed that person so much and maybe that dead person is sending a message to me through my dreams. Usually when I dreamt about my late mother, it was almost her death anniversary and I had to offer a Mass for her soul.
Hello. Well dreaming about the dead ones have vary from culture to culture and from person. These dreams also have psychological and other medical interpretations.
Lets talk about cultures- I am from India and I follow Hinduism. In our religion or so called Indian culture, there is a ritual of burning the dead body of the deceased so that the dead one couldn't get back in the realms of the living as the human skeleton is believed to be the means of support for the spirit to roam around in the same realm as humans. Now when there skeleton is no more available, the dead ones stray around and wait to appear in to the dreams of those they want. In vedic culture there is another theory which is now believed by people around thworld about the cosmic theory which is also described Paulo Coelho's popular book, The alchemist. The theory says that when we think about something, our body aura and mind waves which are a part of cosmic energy helps communicate with the dead. Similar beliefs go with other religions of culture.
Psychologically- If we follow it, there is a simple explanation for this, when we think about those, who are our friends or the loved ones', we have our minds occupied and while sleeping they seem to appear.
In a lot of cultures death means beginning of something. So you might want to asses your current situation if you are trying to make a choice or decision that will change your current state. However, if you're talking about a lot of dead people (zombies..lol) then it could mean something else, like not being able to feel in control in your waking life.
It's a hard question to answer; I think you might want to take a look at the whole dream to understand what it means. Usually your dreams are about yourself and your life, so it might mean that there are things about you that are now 'dead,' which could be a positive or negative thing.
I see this post was written 5 years ago.. did you ever figure out what the dreams meant?
It usually means they r trying to give you a message of sort. verbally or synbolic,
From what i know it is said that it means they are unhappy about something, or are trying to deliver a message. There are so many opinions about this and one can never know for sure.
omg thats scary but i often see my own funeral in dreams..and I wonder why.
If it is your late Father, He is warning you about difficulties on your professional life and devious people around you.
It mostly means you miss them - it's an unconscious thing that happens in your mind. I keep dreaming about my or someone else's death - from the psychological point of view, it's a good sign meaning some kind of beginning a new life or a new chapter of it. Don't worry, there's surely no harm in that.
