How long have you been / desired to be a writer for?
I have been passionate about storytelling since childhood. Even though I had not picked up the talent to write the actual words for a story, I used to fill a piece of paper with little squares and draw pictures in each one, telling a story through the pictures. I then picked up writing by jotting random things down in a journal, and that led to the beginning of poetry for me in my teen years. Now I am doing both storytelling and poetry and the desire to be a writer still grows more and more everyday!
I started writing when I was around 13 years old. I started out with poems and short stories. As I got a little older, I began writing poetry more & more. I have probably written over 200 poems. That stemmed into drawing & painting, and now I write informative information & spiritual philosophy. I have never been one for talking or voicing my opinion in person so writing has always been a way for me to better communicate my feelings & words. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed writing up until a few years ago when I joined Hubpages, started blogs and began using forums. I love it!
I understand what you mean by being more able to communicate through writing, I always feel that way myself. For a long time in my life I had so much social anxiety, I always found that I was better at saying what I wanted to say with a pencil
I became to think seriously about being a writer when I was in junior high school. By chance, I did a couple of essays that the teacher said were very good. By high school, I knew I wanted to be a reporter. I got sidetracked for my first year in college, but since my sophomore year I have been writing in some form, term papers, college newspaper, my professional newspaper career and my public relations years where I wrote a lot of research papers, summaries of legislation and speeches and today where I am writing for the Hub. Granted, as a reporter and in my PR years, I made a living as a writer. Now, at least, for the moment, I have to call it a hobby, that I really enjoy.
That is very awesome! It is more just a hobby that I enjoy right now as well, hopefully someday it will turn into what I do for a living, that would be wonderful
I have wanted to write ever since I was about eight or nine. I read a book by Brian Jacques that I didn't like the ending to - I then tried to re-write the ending myself. It was, of course, absolutely awful. I gave up trying to rewrite other people's work and moved onto writing my own stories. I now write short stories, poetry, articles, essays and have a couple of novels in the pipeline. Hubpages plus the influence of my superbly supportive fiance have brought me out of my writer's shell and into the public domain. Let the good times roll
Hubpages did the same for me with my writing! I have written so many things in my life but until I joined this site I was too shy to share it, too self-conscious. Hubpages has lifted my ego so!
Since the sixth grade any kind of writing assignments from essays to poetry interest me. I like short fiction most of all.
Unfortunately I did not put enough effort towards school to do even the poetry assignments, which I wish now that I did. I have a few short story fictions on here I have written, Fiction is what I prefer too, science fiction as well.
I'll have to share the details with you later, but for me it was around the age of 11 or 12.
I would love to hear more when you have the time!

How long have you been a writer on HubPages?Today is my 5 year anniversary on Hubpages so I was just wondering how long other people have been writing here and what value Hubpages has brought to your life?

How long have you been writing? Why do you write? What have you accomplished? It's time to brag about yourself. I am still new to the writing community and lack writer's wisdom. My friends don't care about writing, so I'm in uncharted waters. I need some insight from...

What subjects do you usually write about?I love to write about many subjects! Self help and animals! My degree is in Biology/Chemistry so I love to write about that as well! so what subjects do you usually write about?

I feel concerned that the reason google may prefer ehow as opposed to hubpages, is because there is an abundance of poetry and short stories. I am not by any means saying that those who publish the short stories and poetry are not good, but they are not usually searchable or high market. I...
