John, what a sad state of affairs. A good reminder to all of us that things are not always what they appear. Far too many are just one setback away from homelessness and/or poverty.

Yes, Linda, it is very sad indeed..and scary because it is becoming more common, and so close.

Thank you both, it means a lot to me and I was certainly moved deeply by what I saw on Christmas morning, hence penning this from the heart. Jackee

This is a very good but very sad poem. The homeless are heartbreaking, and I wish more would be done for them.

The poem is an important reminder about the problems that some people are facing. I think it's wonderful that the writer not only reported what she saw but also did something about it.

    What a wonderful poem.

It shows us humanity as it should be.

If only everyone had this kindness the world might be a better place.

Although it depicts a sad picture of reality it is a Great write about showing compassion.

Covid-19 has affected us in so many ways.

A very thought provoking poem, beautifully expressed. You did a wonderful thing by giving away your groceries to the homeless people Jackee. Covid has made many people adversely. Compassion is important to survive.

Those of us who have a home, a warm bed to sleep in, and plenty of food to eat are fortunate.  It is so sad that everyone does not have that luxury.  Reaching out to help others in need is a wonderful thing to do.  It can literally be life-saving!

We often take what we have for granted...it's thise little things in life that mean the most.

      Be compassionate with others...
      We don't know their story.

A great poem to humble us at this time of year. It was great to see how many people stepped up in DC on Christmas Day to feed the homeless and needy. They set up and cooked right in the parks downtown. High rents and COVID have increased homelessness for the "average" person. There but for the grace of God . . . go I. Counting my blessings.
