I lost my mother around 20 years ago too Greg, and still miss her. I can’t believe she has been gone that long. I can genuinely relate to your poem. Great work.
John
Thanks for posting Greg's work.
It would be so hard to lose a mother. My heart goes out to both of you.
Such a touching response to the word prompt, Adapt.
Your title to the poem, expresses your thoughts and feelings. I don’t think, anyone can ‘adapt’ to losing any parent, and you bring out these sentiments beautifully. But, your mother must be watching and blessing you, from wherever she is.
Thank you for sharing this John.
My best wishes to both of you.
So sad, Box. The memories you have of your mom are precious. Thanks for sharing, my friend.
And thanks for giving us the opportunity to comment on Box's bittersweet poem, John.
Greg
I'm sure it is hard to lose one's Mother.
I honestly you can ever adapt to losing such a precious woman.
My heart goes out to you. I'm sorry you know this sort of pain.
Your poem, "Adapting to Motherless Mother's Days" shows us how you want to call your Mother to wish her a Happy Mother's Day but no phone will connect a call since she's been gone.
Over the years you've written several poems and songs which have never been read.
You tell her it's a sunny day but it will be raining soon...as the tears drop from your eyes.
You remember how footloose and care free she seemed to be as you watched her as a kid.
What a wonderful lesson to pass on.
But no matter what happens in your life, your thoughts turn to her throughout each passing moment.
You know if she were here You would tell her Happy Mother's Day & try to make it a special day.
You look back on photos from previous years and realize it's going to be impossible to adapt completely without her in your life.
After listening to the video...
I understood this
"Ba ba ba ba ba ba
Badaba ba badaba baba"
I can see her dancing to the music.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece about your mother & you.
Somethings we just don't adapt too.
I'll post a link in the word prompt article.
It is hard to lose your mother, and I miss mine every day. This is an excellent poem about your mother Greg. I enjoyed reading it.
A great response to Brends's word prompt, Greg. A mother's love can never be replaced. A very touching poem. A beautiful tribute to you r mother. Thanks for sharing Brenda
Hi Greg, You have perfectly captured the feeling of "Motherless Mother's Days." The same thing could apply to "Fatherless Father's Days." I understand your feelings perfectly. I lost my mother in 2010, and my dad back in 1980. Both of my brothers are also gone. I miss being able to talk to them, hug them, and still share our lives together.
Mother's Day takes on a different meaning when one's mother is no longer there. Bless you and all those who are missing their mother. Thanks John for sharing Greg's piece.
John - hey, thanks for posting this. I am pretty sure Mom is one we will always miss no matter how long she is gone. I wish we’d had more time…always will, I suppose.
Brenda - thanks for the kind words. The song is a great one to walk to, to run to, to ride bike to. It is, for me, evocative and also inspirational. Evokes memories and inspires me to move hard and fast. Always helps me take my mind off of things and relieves stress, too.
Pamela - thanks also to you for the kind words. It seems like we will always remember Mom, doesn’t it?
Vidya - thank you, as well, for reading and your nice comment. Have a great week.
Chitrangada - thanks so much and blessings to you, as well. Have a wonderful week.
Peggy - yes, you are so right. Same can be sad for dads and other family members. I think of things I’d like to say, would love to spend the morning over a cup of coffee getting caught up. Alas…
Sha Sha, Brave Warrior, my friend - as always, good to hear from you. Welcome to you, and thanks to you in return. Have a blessed week.
Greg has created a memorable and moving poem. It's very sad when a beloved parent dies, especially when it's not due to old age. I understand Greg's sadness on Mother's Day. His poem brought back memories of the premature loss of my mother. Thank you for sharing the poem, John.

She shows us that we can adapt to all kinds of circumstances. Knowing her loss of dear Ron make her poems especially poignant. https://hubpages.com/literature/Poem-Adapting-Behavior

Brenda. Arledge has provided a new 52nd word prompt, which is 'adapt'. Take time to read her interesting article where she also reviews the work of 2 Hubbers for her last prompt. She also provides a great deal of encouragement for all the authors.https://discover.hubpages.com/literatur …...
