Brenda shares some thoughts about the years that have gone by, the memories of the yesteryears, and the fact that we have gained a bit more experience from last year. Time as we all know is brutal, and its relentless ticking away waits for none. But the show must go on. Thanks, Brenda, for sharing your introspective musings.

They say we get wiser with age.. but I think I just get more stubborn.

I just carried in a heavy box with our Christmas tree...
Yes, should've waited for help, but that's what Ron & I did last year...we ended up not having it put up.

      So stubborn me....

Now to recuperate, so i can put it up.

It has been a very challenging year for you, Brenda, with losing Ron, his brother, (Steve Carr as well) and your health problems on top. It is almost over, and let's hope 2023 is a much better one. These poems display your feelings well.
    Thank you for sharing, Ravi.

      John...
Each moment in life happens for a reason, but you are right...this year has been full of challenges.

2023 is just around the corner.
Hopefully I can finally get things put away & boxes moved...but first...
      decorating for Christmas.

      Thanks.

Yes, John,I agree. It has been a tough year for Brenda, but I know she is strong and has the resilience to come out of any situation with flying colors. All the best, Brenda, and many happy returns for your birthday.

      Thanks Ravi...
I am strong....but there are moments I want to feel weak.

No worries though...I'm pretty stubborn headed so I'll make it just fine.

      Flying colors... i like that.

      Take care

Happy Birthday, Brenda! It's true as each birthday passes by, we become older, but we also become wiser. Let us trust in God to make it to another year. We should embrace the now but looking on to our past is a good thing to focus on our fond memories and learn from our mistakes. Yes, you are right- as we become older, we celebrate birthdays differently. May your birthday be a happy one and may you have a blessed day.

      Thank you Rosina....
      I appreciate the birthday wishes.

I'm getting ready to meet my parents for a Birthday lunch...and I actually have a Christmas party this evening, so I will be busy today.

Right now...spending a few moments with the furbabies.

    Hello Brenda!
Excellent and heartfelt poems, reflecting your thoughts on your birthday.
I agree with you that as we age, we celebrate our birthdays differently. Perhaps counting our blessings is the best way to move on towards another year. Life moves on, and we have to move forward accordingly.
Many Happy Returns of the day. I wish you good health, and lots of happiness. Happy Birthday to you.
Thank you Raviji, for sharing Brenda’s post.

      Thank you Chitrangada...
Counting my blessings is an excellent way to begin this day.

I just went outside to check the mail & to my surprise...
The gravel pile is completely moved away from my house...
It feels good to be able to look across the Street from my front porch.

One day at a time...things will get better.

Happy Birthday Brenda! I hope you have a wonderful birthday. I enjoyed reading your poems about getting a year older, and I certainly relate. We do celebrated our birthdays differently as we age.

Thanks for posting Brenda's poems, Ravi.

      Thanks Pamela.

Birthday's are certainly not like they were when I was a child.

As we get older, our outlook is different.
I did enjoy visiting with my mother, my dad & stepmom during a birthday lunch.

As I sit here and reflect...it vould very well be the last time we all spend my Birthday together...
So God blessed me with this today.

Your poems are lovely descriptions of thoughts as we grow older, Brenda. As you say, we can't stop time from progressing, and we need to embrace each moment. This can be hard if difficulties appear, but it's important to try. I hope you have a very enjoyable birthday.

      Thanks Linda.

On a usual Birthday, Ron and I would go out to eat....
So, Saturday night I treated myself to dinner.

A little hard at first, but well worth it.

      Prime rib dinner...it was excellent.

Just had to get passed that initial phase where everyone stares...asking if anyone is joining you...
But I'm so glad I went out instead of staying home in bed.

Today, I had lunch with my parents & I have a Xmas party this evening...so I'll be fine.

It would have been strange, your first birthday celebration without Ron there, but I am sure he would have wanted you to have that steak dinner out. Enjoy your Xmas party.

      John...
For some reason I have not received one notification on this article.

Guess there's a glitch with the powers to be...

      In any case...
It was different.   The same with his birthday in November.

I eventually went out to eat on his b'day also.

He would have wanted me to have that Steak dinner, but the best place is in another town...and I just didn’t want to drive by myself...so I opted to stay local and have prime rib.

The Christmas party was alot of fun.  It helped keep me busy.
