Chitrangada, the great William James, had made a profound statement about humans. He says,

"We are like islands in the sea, separate on the surface but connected in the deep."

Humans need to be connected and are naturally tuned to establish long loving connections with each other. But somehow, in the rat race of survival and oneupmanship, we seem to have lost touch to stay connected with each other. This connection is even more important in the post-COVID world where many of us lost our near and dear ones. Thanks for sharing this beautiful and timely poem with us.The link is as below.

The touching poem and accompanying text serve as a fitting reminder to not be so wrapped up in yourself and your own life that you forget to reach out to others who need a small word of comfort.

I agree with Ravi that humans need to grounded and connected instead of battling in the rat race. I also share the same sentiment with you, Chitrangada about being connected to the elderly who are lonely and perhaps cannot move. I am so glad I had the luck to visit my eldest aunt before she passed away from a massive heart attack all of a sudden very unexpectedly.
Thank you for sharing this insightful poem.

Thank you, Ravi, for posting her work.

      Hello Rosina,
Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts on this topic.
Good to know that you made it to visit your eldest aunt.
Not preaching, but I do make it a point to remain connected with my elderly relatives, and other family members. It’s so easy nowadays, due to the advancement of technology. We should make the most of it. It gives a sense of satisfaction and pleasure to everyone.
Thank you and my best wishes to you.

I also agree with the comments of Ravi and Rosina as humans do need to be connected and grounded. I know how I felt when my mother moved in with us for the last 14 years of her life. It is important to remain connected with the elderly. I still miss her. This is a very good article, Chitrangada.

Thanks for posting the article, Ravi.

      Hello Pamela,
Happy to read your insightful comments. Whether elderly people, or youngsters, I find people feel lonely these days. There is lack of communication even within the households, which is sad.
Appreciate you for sharing your thoughts on this topic.
      Thank you so much.

Thank you Linda, for reading and appreciating my article.
Inspite of the technological revolution, and so many options of being connected, the close bond between family members, seems to be missing, or not as strong as it used to be earlier.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insightful comments.

This is an excellent poem, Chitrangada. Yes, I am in the same age bracket and used to communicate via written letter. Communication of all forms is important, especially as people age. The new technology makes that easier for most.
    Ravi, thank you for sharing.

Thank you John, for reading and appreciating. Good to read your valuable comments. I miss those handwritten letters, and have preserved most of them from my dear ones.
Yes, communication is much, more easier nowadays, if people want to remain connected.
      Thank you and best wishes.
