I loved the mystery of your article, a good response to Brenda's prompt, "Mystery". You have given alternative solutions to the mystery of the city getting submerged under sand dunes, which makes it more exciting. Thank you, Vidya, for sharing this.

Thank you, Chitrangada, for sharing Vidya's post.

    Vidya...
I just now saw this piece, so I probably won't get to read it tonight.

I'll let you know once I do though.

I'll try to post it in the word prompt article now.

    Vidya...
It's so great to see you writing again & it feels good to be back.

Thank you so much for your kindness.

Your Mysterious Story about a City Buried in Sand is an intriguing tale.

I don't know much about curses, but I wonder if this place, Talakad,  actually stopped flourishing because of one.

    It certainly sounds like it.

The 30 temples buried in sand and the Wodeyar King's didn't have Heirs...plus that whirlpool that devours.

Wow...what a curse to be devoured by a current.

I've always heard one can offer an appeasement to stop a curse, and it seems like it worked in this case for the Wofeyar family...but not so much for the land...it's still covered in sand.

More intriguing is the event that happens every twelve years which reveals the 5 submerged temples.

Truly a blessing from the Lord where it is said he manifested himself in 5 forms.

I can imagine the flock of people gathering there on those special years.

I wonder what happened in 2018.

The two hunters Tala & Kadu  who saw a tree bleed were probably very frightened.
It amazes me that they took the time to heal the wounds of this tree, but yet their actions pleased the Lord.
Imagine the town's name deriving from this...I can absolutely see that happening.

I like the intrigue & mystery about this area ...not the archeological study.

It does make me wonder if the hand of God has something to do with the land remaining a desert in between such lush land.

Hopefully the people who were devoted to the queen were saved from harm.

    I love this story.

It makes me wish I lived closer to places where these kind of intriguing things happen.
I would love to visit them.

I posted this in the word prompt for week 61.

    Great article.

Thanks Brenda for the generous comments. I am sorry I am late in submitting my response. I am happy that you liked the story. Yes the legends and Lore surrounding the city is fascinating and intriguing. The world prompt Mystery immediately reminded me of this story. I guess in those times some people had that power. You should plan a visit sometime this side. There are many such fascinating places to see and experience. Have a great weekend.

I would love to visit, but i imagine that won't happen.

As of now...it's difficult for me to get to the next city.

      I keep to myself.

I don't look for anyone else to be here but
      me.

Thanks Chitrangada for sharing my article. I am glad you liked the story and can relate to it. Sometimes these folk tales are hard to believe. But the fact that the story has been going around from so many years and the state the city is in, forces us to belive it. The spectacle of the sand clearing once in twelve years, displaying  the temples is also intriguing. As Brenda said,it seems as if  some divine force is at play here. Have a great day and week ahead.

Hi Rosina, thanks for the nice comments. I am glad you loved the mystery in the story. It is really intriguing as to how a whole city with more than 30 temples can get submerged in sand when all around there is greenery and the river flows close by.  Sometimes as the saying goes, facts can be stranger than fiction. Enjoy the weekend

Exciting Story, Vidya.I was a bit surprised how this story of Talakad is almost similar to the story of the ghost town of Kuldhara in Rajasthan. In both cases, a curse resulted in the area remaining barren for centuries. Whether a curse can be so potent or is a natural phenomenon is a question that is yet to be answered. Thanks for sharing this wonderful mystery of Talakad

Thanks, Chitrangada, for sharing Vidya's article.

Hi Ravi, I did not know about Kuldhara in Rajasthan. I guess there are so many folk tales that we are unaware of. Though it is sometimes difficult to believe, they are intriguing to read about. Yes there would be a scientific explanation but people choose to believe the legends. Thanks for the comments, have a great day.
