I love how this acclaims the freedom of the poetic voice and creative license.  Beautifully and cleverly penned, John.  You have always been one of my favorite writers.

Love your poem, John, with your metaphor of a captive bird to a poet who feels compelled to follow rules rather than his own heart and mind. The need to conform is a powerful force but, often times, as your poem so nimbly expresses, it may end up as a fair one rather than an extraordinary one if we put rules above poetic inspiration. The spirit must be able to soar as the bird must be able to fly free not constrained by others. Thank you, John, for your creativity and thank you, Genna, for sharing.

Hi, John. I like the simile of the bird and the poet. Thoughts need freedom for expression. If restricted, they can explode. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings in a beautiful poem.

Genna, thank you for sharing link to this poem.

    Hi John,
Thank you for sharing this refreshing poem.
Creative freedom is most valuable and who can understand this better than a poet, like you. Well expressed and insightful.
Thank you Genna for sharing this in the forum.
Happy day to both of you.

You are welcome, John…it was my pleasure.

    Lora, Venka, and Chitrangada…

Thank you for your encouraging and astute comments in support of John’s poem which expounds the need for freedom of creative thought is boundless and should never be hindered by unnecessary rules that only inhibit imagination and expression. As Lora stated, poets need to be able follow their own hearts, minds and rhythms.
