If you are a published poet, an aspiring poet or have never tried to write a poem but at least enjoy poetry- then WE NEED YOU! Here's your chance to both express and explore your creative juices in a rhyme, a line and a verse.
This is a fun, collaborative activity where a little effort from each individual in the group goes a long way in making for an interesting, exciting read. Let's make it simple and fun.
The rules are simple, for each post write only two lines (verses) that rhyme. The person who writes the next post (it can be the same person) they also will write two lines that rhyme but they must make the next set of rhyming lines or verses different from that of the preceeding lines. I'll start to give it a sense of structure:
"There's a vast and endless universe that mirrors the divine,
In your eyes are treasures beyond worth that mere words can't define."
But you always seem to only open your mouth to change feet..
So my dear, it's time, it's time that I press..... DELETE!
Darkness has become an integral part of my life.
The things you've done to hurt me, pricks me like a sharp knife.
Go away! Never again I wish you to stay
To forget all about you is the only thing I will ask now in every pray
And if my words should leave you in doubt,
don't let the door hit you on your way out.
And as I leave at the dawn of the day
I look not over my shoulder, nor yet rue the day.
On the golden wings of time I move on
Your memory only adds another shade of red in my crayon.
It is the color of the setting sun
that casts golden shadows as I run
Which lengthen as the days turn to nights
As your memory has dimmed the city lights
The brightness blinds my darkest fear
Securing hope for the New Year
Past gets lost in the oblivion
I come out in the road as the new sun is on.
The blue mighty earth turns dark
With moon appear I get moonstruck.
Is there hope yet for this lost and wandering soul,
Is there love left for one so out of control?
So begs the question, ever deep, with chilling melting fear.
Will I release the old heartbreak or relive the last New Year?
I'll drink a cup of kindness yet for days of auld lang syne
and smile into that universe that mirrors the divine.
I'll smile in spite of heartbreak, and grin instead of cry,
And sometime after midnight, I'll put my face towards the sky,
And say that life's worth living, and I don't wanna die,
And give the wings for hope to live, and begin again to try.
Oh Please... get a grip, stop bleating; it's only snow
Don't you understand that DELETE means.. Cya! - So Go!
for tomorrow if I put my feet upon the floor
success in contentment, I will chance to restore.
Upon another year I close the door
And wonder "could it have been more?"
The clouds are coming together to form the new year
distant whispers of melody and prayers I hear
what else do you want me to say my dear
the story tells how much i yearn to hold you near
Accepting the rhyme of life a new turn is to take
Last night I dreamt someone inviting my company on a horse-back
I saddled the horse, and fled the memory of you
I rode deep into the night, into the dark, dark, blue
Intercepting fate, spiral down, down
Bright as a star, horses and clowns
pass our way as we travel through towns,
over hills, fields and green hilly downs.
Fate spirals us down to the darkest of night,
But joy comes to me with the dawn's morning light.
and makes me wonder if I took a part
in the time and moments of my broken heart.
I found that I the same as before
might not learn from you or the door
and find only another you in my bed,
I turn a new leaf today, enough said.
Yeah You heard me right- enough said and done,
Now I m gonna let go and have my share of fun!
A golden flask with bitter rum my heavy eyelids closing
I sit upon a wicker chair sulking in the vision
I dream of lakes deep and blue, ships with red sails that billow
then I awake and remembering you, tears shed on my pillow.
As the dawn of promise rouses from its sleepy state
The memory of loss remains a stain upon my fate
How deeply I now regret, that I cast my fortunes into the hands of fate.
In future twice I will think, before venturing thro' the garden gate.
Why do I forget regret never sleeps
And give myself away while heart weeps
But those who hesitate are lost
Best decide now, later weigh the cost.
Who can live without a dream
In a towards death life stream!!
Never live without dreams, be they castle in the air
or hopes that time will steal away our cares.
For our dreams be like beacons of light in darkness
That steer us safely through the torment of troubled waters
Here is the poem so far:
"There's a vast and endless universe that mirrors the divine,

On the golden wings of time I move on
Your memory only adds another shade of red in my crayon.
It is the color of the setting sun

The fire pit has been lit, the flames are rising higher
Your clothes sure are flammable, thanks for being such a liar
Which lengthen as the days turn to nights
As your memory has dimmed the city lights
The brightness blinds my darkest fear
Securing hope for the New Year
The blue mighty earth turns dark
With moon appear I get moonstruck.

oh....Didn't know it has to be two lines
I got carried away by the rhymes
Accepting the rhyme of life a new turn is to take
Last night I dreamt someone inviting my company on a horse-back
I saddled the horse, and fled the memory of you
I rode deep into the night, into the dark, dark, blue

As I face the clock
after midnight was struck.
I found that I the same as before
might not learn from you or the door
It might in fact hit me too
it would be a shame to rue
and find only another you in my bed,
I turn a new leaf today, enough said.

How deeply I now regret, that I cast my fortunes into the hands of fate.
In future twice I will think, before venturing thro' the garden gate.
Why do I forget regret never sleeps
And give myself away while heart weeps
Tis a melancholy time of year
When every poet sheds a tear.
And yet the beautiful day does not care
Reminding me to love again if I dare
Beckoning me forward if I would
Wondering, still, if I should.
The steady keel of confidence
comforts sons and daughters
Is this the end of the quest
or are the poets just taking a rest?
It is often best to rest to restore ones zest
it is said on the seventh the lord stood still
And so the quest is conquered and the poem comes to an end
The collaboration of minds and spirits, have made strangers into friends
Still the rhythm goes on ringing through the night
Waiting for the last line, before taking flight.
A new year has come so let us seize the day
Do our best at every moment not let our feelings get in the way
when dawn's first light peaks into view
a new day and new year will remind me of you.;
This day our hearts are combined,
Forever from now, forever through time.
And with that all said,
This poem is now dead !
(sorry to be a kill joy,but now I'm bored
But in that death shall we sleep?
not making friends with the shadows we keep
Playing in squaller or light of day
keeping tears and fears at bay
or shall in death, open a door?
stepping through, leaving this shore,
A moment, a time, for grand peace,
a new lease on existence where troubles cease.
Then at break of each new day
once more we seek to find the way.
I pray the weak, when fraught with pain
Each day to speak with naught disdain

Thanks kimback for the inspiration to do this with your last topic.... Simple rules: Every two lines have to rhyme, the next two lines have to rhyme as well but be different from the first lines. Be creative and make it fun! I'll start with the first two lines to give it a sense of...
