Yea! I have written the hub on the debate because I am so amazed that every hillbilly and his homosexual cousin is out to get this girl? Do the gay rights people rule the world of public opinion? Or is Prejean just a simpleton with a pretty face?
And here was my reply to your hub:God bless you for writing a hub on this subject. I think I can say what I really think without getting banned again. Most of us have done far worst in the sex department than Carrie, to bad she put it on tape. My problem with her is she does not understand that gay people do not have the rights that straight people have when they get married. If you are opposed to gay marriage fine. I dont want to walk down your church aile or sit on your couch and drink tea with you. I dont want my kids givin to strangers if I die. I dont want my lover to have to fight the city for a month before they release my body to him. I dont want to have to pay higher taxes than a straight couple. I want to collect my partners Social Security just like you and carrie. You and Carrie can believe what you want. But dont deny me my rights as a United States Citizen. Dont you understand how evil that is. To smile in someone face and tell them they do not deserve the same rights you have "But I will pray for you". I dont think she deserve to have her sex life out in the public like this. But I do think she deserves to be challenged on her opinion on gay marriage.
As luck would have it...
Hillbillies have homosexual cousins?! I don't think gays out themselves to hillbillies. Would not be compatible with life.
Well, she managed to extend her 15 minutes. And she or her publicist seem pretty smart at getting negative publicity. Calling Larry King inappropriate on his show? She’s what, 22 or 23? Must admit a disparaging name comes to mind. But, she doesn’t have a sex tape because she was alone in the footage? Priceless. What a Clinton-esque thing to say.
Um, sounds pretty biased from the opening of the gate. What kind of dicussion do you hope to achieve here?
I want to interact directly with the forthright voices, albeit most that I have been reading today have been against her.
And just so you know that I am losing my innocence, this thread is without apology another shameless marketing of the referenced hub. Honestly.
I don't think she's a victim at all! She's getting all kinds of press and now has a book. She's benefiting greatly from what really never should have been a controversy. Right now, playing the victim is playing into her hand, her fame, and opening many doors to opportunities.
This recent "news-making storm" would not have earned any points in the character department even without the gay marriage remarks. Combined with remarks that implied a morality factor linked to the gay marriage issue, it makes any video she made look that much worse. If nothing else, she's someone who will do anything to get publicity - and that doesn't say much about her either.
Hardly a victim. Her scandal made her relevant and news worthy.
It's been my experience that many evangelicals like imagining they're martyrs when they're really not.
Just another contradiction in this society of religious bigotry. Submitting herself as a sexual object in a beauty pageant, but then casting judgement on someone else's lifestyle.
And she should have known to give a phoney, politically correct answer when that sleezey Perez Hilton asked her that question. Or just no comment. She should have just known that.
I love the way you state your point, except she was just spouting what she learned in Sunday School and not setting out to cast judgement, if you are referring to the Perez Hilton encounter when you say 'casting judgement'.
She sounds like moron to me, who surrounds herself with people that treat her like their puppet. Has nothing to do with gay rights activists.
I think the whole thing was a set-up to begin with. Her actual answer was not offensive, as she did say she believes in everyone's right to choose whom they will. There is nothing wrong with her belief that marriage is between a man and a woman, but Hilton wanted to make a stink on purpose, which is why he asked the question in the first place. Frankly, I admire her for stating her real opinion in the face of so obvious an onslaught.
Good to know I'm not the only one around here with eyes to see what's really going on.
Just because she's a hypocrite doesn't mean Hilton's not an a$$hole
Every believer and non believer got something to hide. Unfortunately hers was caught on camera.
I'm as much against porn as I am against same-sex marriage. But I want to defend her right to state her position. I imagine that using the word 'position' while talking about her is fodder for the mill.
But you're not trying to make porn illegal, are you?
If it were simply a matter of opinion, then no one would care. The problem is some people think (a carefully chosen selection of) their religious beliefs entitles them to campaign to strip a minority of equal rights. That's wrong no matter what your personal views are.
I think that her answer made her different, making her different caused some controversy, causing controversy led to people checking out her background and past, which led to pics being exposed, which led to questioning, which may or may not have led to a boob job, not paying for the boob job, masturbation tape, more nude pictures, and then accusing larry king of asking inappropriate questions, being played like a puppet, writing a "book", making $$, and essentially getting what she wanted... along with the bad perhaps.
what a shame when an American cannot speak from the heart without some form of scum attacking them.
It also a shame when citizens of this country can not get equal treatment under the law because some scum in a cult does not believe they should.
Admire your frankness but words like 'scum' will derail the discussion.
She's simply trash...now with some cash. Victim? Ha. Not likely. Smart business woman.
To be fair, though, Perez Hilton is also one of the worst people in the world. The two of them can have each other for all eternity. Its what they both deserve.
She is of no basic substance, and has cashed in on the goods of her fortune, which she claims is misfortune. As for Hilton, he isn't representative of anything good as far as I can tell. Arrogance and loud-mouthing are not admirable. Prejean and Hilton are two of a kind pretending to be enemies.
Neither should be taken seriously as spokespersons for anything. They speak only in their own favor, to promote themselves. They are of no consequence.
Sound advice for almost any occasion, don't you think
Well...perhaps most occasions. A sense of propriety can go a long way.
She is not a victim at all, she is very popular right now..
Believe it or not guys I am being educated and entertained by your input. Seems like most persons view her negatively.
I must be dyed in the wool religious right to be defending her. Or am I lacking enough info for critical analysis?
Honestly? I think she is the dimmest bulb on the tree, but still was a victim of gay powerbrokers -- namely one Perez Hilton.
