Are we Capitalists? Are we a Democracy? Are we a Republic? What definition would best describe the form of government that the United States currently possesses?
Commies in the closet
Nah I'm just messing of course. It's very hard to define such a country in one word, I think a paragraph of description will beat any such attempt
We all think we have liberty but we dont. We think we have a democrasy.. but we dont.. we are watched 80 times an hour in our towns and we think we have privacy? Crap!
We are brainwashed and instead of setting against each other, we should set against those who use us and abuse us... these are our governments who dont know uck all about living life frugally and being controlled. They control us and try to keep down with every psychological tactic that they can employ in order to control a society.
why doesnt anyone challenge me? Tell me I am wrong for Gods sake!
I think you are sugar coating things a bit.
We are a Democratic Republic with a capitalist economy.
I agree it is defined as a Republic. Would that not give the States authority over the central government?
No, that is not inherent in the term Republic.
We are all the above in my opinion.
People are always trying to define the USA in 1 word, it is of my opinion that that is impossible to do.
Very valid point Rolan, I would tend have to agree with you on this one.
Exactly the problem I am having since technically there are some socialistic elements to our structure as well.
What form of Government does the United States Have?
A broken one.
A Republic, according to the Constitution. In practice, an oligarchy.
yes, I agree a bit...a Republic on paper, a pseudo democracy mask over an oligarchy in actions(secret and blatant), a twisted form of capitalism (capitalism is meant to be good)and a bunch of people that don't give a damn or just can't figure it out because all of the above are present at the same time...depends on who you talk to and how they run their life
We are supposed to be a REPUBLIC!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkOcFVBoA-o
"Bizzaro Superman" style Government...where we look and sound like the government was supposed to look and sound...only we do things just the opposite!
I would have to agree with Madame.
The US of A is an odd form of rule, where it's citizens are defined as "Assimilated contributors to the globalization of advanced Democracy"
assimilate or annihilate
And they thought the Macedon's and Roman's were ruthless. jeje
If as the Founding Fathers intended, a Representative Republic, as it now stands, a socialist mess.
All governments represent an ancient "altruistic" idea. It's this idea, for which, the citizens are unable to see as it is.
they might represent this, but dont practice it! forget the smiley! lol
Hey Shaz, you're a wonderful lady and a pleasant personality, but obviously, you read a little bit much into my statement or didn't understand it altogether.
They might represent this? But, don't practice it?
First off, YES they do practice it, and it's everyday that they do practice it. Every single Government worldwide practices. Each one inflicts damage on their own society. Why? Because, the people let them.
There are very few people in the U.S. who can see anything for what it is. Their views are so skewed, they would be lucky if they can identify themselves in the mirror in the morning.
What does Government represent? Usurping power and extending control, as though it was a their right to do, like they are better than everyone else on the planet. Creating laws that strip an individual right of choice. Creating laws that invade a person's right to life. Why? Because, they feel the need to make your life a living hell, while they get to be powerful and wealthy, off the hard work of others.
No offense to you Shaz, it's not directed at you. I'm lashing out more at the rest of society, who refuses to step up to the plate and help do something about the problem. And, no I am not insinuating violence in any way, because that will not achieve anything at all, except get a lot of people hurt.
The underlying problem is the PEOPLE. Don't you get it? It's you the citizen, who refuse to stand up for yourself. Sure, you can feel all high and mighty in this forum, but once you get off your computer, most are two-bit wannabes, who don't have the courage to do anything meaningful. They just complain about it, so they can make others feel bad, just like themselves.
When the TRUTH is it's themselves who are limiting their own life, because they refuse to stand up for that very life. It's sad, pathetic and those who won't do anything, should be ashamed to call themselves Americans.
If anyone feels like that they have been offended. Get over yourself and move on. This isn't about any individual person. It is about the UNITED STATES of America. Do YOU(people) understand what that means? If you don't, then I suggest you look up the word - Morality. The people B!tch about the Government, and the pathetic notion that putting another jackA$$ in office is really going to fix the problem? You must be dreaming! Again, if you've felt like you have been offended, then too bad. Your vision is skewed, otherwise you would see the truth - right before your very eyes - yet you sit and do nothing, because you have this pathetic view that nothing can be done. It's disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got it? I hope so.
have you checked out www.givemeliberty.org these are Americans that are really doing something tangible, organized and intelligent to hold the government accountable to its dessicration of the Constitution
Actually, we are talking the same here. And yes, I have stood up, on my own i may add, for rights of others outside of the computer - and I am being punished for it! People in power have decided I am trouble.. trying to fight for the rights of the vulnerable.. and they have stopped me from helping - so what good has that done me and those that I help.. effing all.
Yes, I am angry.. one person cant do it on their own - they need a group and most people are too frightened to rebel! So, there you have it!
And for valid reasons. It would be citizens against military. The republicans get locked out of meetings on healthcare, how could the public get into anything? lol
dont bring god into it, this is a people problem!
We are heading that way, if things don't start changing. Government officials are in denial about it I think.
Denial and the fact that they underestimate the public because they believe they are elite. I think it's time for them to see who works for who. If they keep pushing, they will eventually get there.
It already has. The teabaggers et al are just as comical.
We have a plutonomy....
Of course, I would call this the same as a republic in the Classical and pre-20th century United States.
In both cases, a large percentage of the population, if not most, was ineligible to vote.
Women...not vote..
Not-Anglo..not a Roman...no vote..
Not a property holder....no vote (of course, the U.S. would play around with using poor, either immigrants or poor native-whites to offset freed slaves and other groups considerd "undesireable")
A recent study published in the media showed that the candidates or causes that got the most money in their campaigns won nearly every single time......
Which is why health care reform is where it is....
And is why we will not be leaving the Mid-East...but only be working more...
And also why we are building up military bases in Columbia...while the media doesn't say too much about it all....
Who does the School of the America's represent?
Did you, the American citizen, authorize it? Is this done in your name?
If you haven't even heard of it, what does it say about what you really know of your own country?
Thoughts?
The Mellons want to get back the oil fields they lost.......in Iran and Venezuela...coincidentally.....right?

Why does the United States have an Electoral College?Every 4 years, Americans vote for a president. After the people's votes are counted, one candidate is the winner in each state. Then that candidate wins all the state's 'electors'. The electors from each of the 50 states are counted up like...

The president of the United States of Rukraine would be a man who has familiarized himself with America's Declaration of Independence and it's Constitution determining what makes (made) it work, (or not work.)Each state would be converted from country-hood to statehood. The citizens of each state...
