The question was asked,".... why we should allow the southern border to remain open with no security measures in place?" by RJ Schwartz.

... still waiting for an answer.

The answer?  Article 1.8.1, The military is not to be fighting wars the government integrated but is supposed to be defending our borders.

Most people understand that national defense includes driving back/stopping an invasion of uninvited people.  So does promoting the general welfare of the country.

But in any case the border is not defended (normally) by the military, but a police force.

Really? So why didn't our Native Americans stop those land and gold greedy white men who were NOT invited to steal what wasn't theirs?

My father was an immigrant from Italy. Trump's mother was born in Scotland. How Nazi Aryian Nation do you want it to get?

What in the blue velvet hell has happened to some white men in this country so fearful of anyone who isn't born here? Your grandparents were probably not born here unless you are a Native American. Get over it.

I have to agree with you, but first off, not all of us "Caucasians" are descendants of Johnny-come-lately. Some of us have ancestry going back to the beginning of this country and know that our ancestors fought for our freedom from the British (mine did). But if we are "white" we are Caucasians, not Aryans.
Now having said that, these "Aryan Nation" people and white supremacists don't even know what an Aryan is. All they know is what Hitler claims they were. The true Aryans go back to prehistoric times and were a very tall copper-colored, mainly red-haired, blue-eyed race. These people they are calling Aryans are actually the "Caucasians" who originated in the Caucasus Mountains between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. They migrated north and populated the white areas of Northern Europe and Eastern Europe.
In other words only people who are followers of Hitler would label a Caucasian as an Aryan. Caucasians can have brown eyes and still be a Caucasian. People should read their history and know better.
I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, I'm just pointing out the ignorance of these people who claim to be so lily white and don't know what they are talking about.
I'll bet a DNA test would surprise the crap out of some of them.
BTW one of the reasons the natives didn't stop the greedy white men was because the GWM killed off (murdered) the bison, which served as their living, and they nearly starved. Another strike against the GWM.

For you, I stand corrected. My father came to the US in 1907 as an 8 year old child running from the "Black Hand" in Bari, Italy. By Trump's view, I'm an anchor baby since at that time immigrants came to the US without ANY papers on boats from numerous countries.

So, as you can see, my allegiance toward immigrants is deeply embedded in being an "anchor baby," as all of my half brothers and half sisters were.

When I was in Cut Bank, Montana, I had one of the most eeriest experiences of my life. I tend to be sensitive to things. We stayed in a motel because I was hoping to open a B&B in that town since it had a busy major state highway running through it.

The night we stayed in Cut Bank, I couldn't sleep because I kept hearing a wind so shrill, it sounded like screaming. The next morning as we prepared to see a house in Santa Rita, my companion went to load our baggage into the car.

What he was several freight trains literally hanging off that 80 ft. high railroad bridge. One of the freight cars was half submerged in the Marias River.

The people in the town seemed unphased by this. With my sweater hanging from my arm, I was about to get into the car when a gust of wind out of now where lifted the sweater from my arm. We scoured the entire parking lot of that strip mall and it vanished as if it never existed.

Before we left Cut Bank, Montana, we stopped at the town library where I found an old newspaper from the early 1900s. It turns out that in 1901, the US Cavalry had massacred 101 Piegun Natives. The few who escaped froze to death hiding along the very banks of that Marias River where that train had derailed.

To this day, this freaky event still unnerves me. It turns out that the Cavalry the Cut Bank natives had stolen horses. But, they had the wrong tribe.

That is freaky, Ewent. I have no problem with legal immigrants. In fact, one of my favorite aunts was one. My uncle married her and brought her to the U.S. as a 16-year-old bride when he was stationed in Reykjavik, Iceland, during 1950s. I loved her dearly. She passed away last year around Thanksgiving.
I just have a problem with people, (Nazis, etc.) who classify me as Aryan when I'm not. BTW, 23andme says I have a tiny bit of Italian in my DNA. Supposedly an ancestor was from Italy about 300 years ago. I haven't found him, but FamilySearch has located some of my ancestors back to Julius Caesar's cousin in Rome. I had dark ash brown (nearly black) hair before it turned white, and dark blue eyes and pale olive skin, so who knows.

Did you see Trump this week at the border? Where were those 350,000 immigrants? All I saw in his show off photo op was him standing there waving bye bye at a helicopter with 2 Secret Service, 1 Hispanic border chief (for best effect naturally) and 1 other flunkie.

You are being swindled if you think giving him $5.6 billion will cover the cost of that wall. Where is the detailed cost estimation on engineering design? labor? the cost of legally acquiring land?

Do you buy a car and not check on its specs?

I have every reason to hate Trump. I live in NJ. We are still paying off 6 of his corporate bankruptcies. Not to mention the unemployment his hotel and casino workers he stiffed on back wages we ended up having to pay for too.

Don't t you DARE try to put a halo on the worst occupant of the WH in US history. I don't hate. I'm just glad I am not him. He's going to get what's coming to him. It's taken decades of all of us in the NY/NJ Metro area to have to swallow how often he got a slap on the wrist for things that sent Gotti, Madoff and Gravano to prison for.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Trump has over 4,000 lawsuits against him. He has had more bankruptcies than ALL of the CEOs in the US ever had.

He is so far up Putin's butt that he even borrowed Putin's 2012 campaign slogan MRGA and changed it to MAGA.

We do not allow anyone in this country to be above the law. If you support a lawbreaker, you belong in jail for aiding and abetting them.

I am not sure so that all of the right wingers who appear in posts are actually Americans. Think about it.

What kind of American would put a person, man OR woman in the WH who has had over 4,000 lawsuits, was found guilty of money laundering and RICO fraud and is suspected of being a Russian agent of Vladmir Putin who just this week publicly gloated about how he is "weakening" the US.

During the Colonial Revolution, traitors were hanged or shot. We cannot stand by and allow brazen, ruthless traitors to destroy all that our military vets fought for and lost their iives for.

If Trump gets his way and builds this wall, that will be only the first of his government takeovers.

I know that under our constitution they have the right to their own opinion, but they should have the common sense not to make racist statements public.

Let's get reasonable, Wilderness. I know you can when you want to be. Nobody has brought up the question of what about border cities? By that I mean cities on both sides of the border that consider themselves neighbors and cooperate with each other. They do business with each other, people cross the border to shop, eat and other entertainment. If that wall does happen to be built, is it going to wall these neighbors off from each other? If it does, how will it affect the relationships between these neighbors. For instance, El Paso has been named the "safest city in the U.S." for three years in a row despite its being just across the border from Juarez. Will these people on either side of the border get a voice in what happens to them?

If he doesn't get bored first, and doesn't get that wall, he will very likely end up hoping it goes to the SC if he tries for a faked National Emergency. That's a big big big mistake for him.

It will show that his lawbreaking lawyers are helping him break Constitutional laws he thinks he can ignore.

He knows by using the military as "HIS" wall builders and helping himself to the US Treasury if he can't get the funding from the House, he'll declare martial law and that's when someone will haul him out of the WH kicking and screaming.

First things first. The southern border is not now and has not been "open" for over 20 years. How do I know? Because when I checked every year since it was first funded at the GAO.gov site, we've been handing these border states tens of billions EVERY year for border protection.

There already IS a wall at the southern border. Our borders do not need to be defended. Why? because of the entry points not just on the "southern" (a fact I'll get to to prove it's bogus) but also from the Canadian, Pacific Coast, Gulf and East Coasts.

What next? A wall between Canada and the US too?

I am so fed up with these lily white morons whose own ancestors landed in the "new world" from England and Ireland as indentured slaves whose only reason for being shipped here was to work off the debts they owed.

There is no Aryan nation in this country. Get over it.

Now, last year, Trump and the Republicans handed over $22 billion of your tax dollars for border protection. Why didn't they use that to build a wall? Why did they wait until Dems had control of the House if National Security was at such high risk?

Let's stop the games. You all know why Republicans didn't dare spend a dime on a wall when they had all the power to do so while they had control of the House and Senate.

That funding never gets used for border protection. Here's an example of how much funding has gone to these states in just the past 5 years:
      2014 - $14 billion
      2015 - $15 billion
      2016 - $16 billion
      2017 - $20 billion
      2018 - $22 billion

Now do the math. And, according to all government records, these whiner states are the ones who do the least to enforce their businesses to use E-Verify to check immigrant status. What does that tell you?

Meanwhile, the Mouth of the WH is demanding another $5 billion to add salt to wound the national debt. And this is CONservatism? On what planet?

Japan has no wall other than those built during dynastic reigns. Today, they are so far ahead of the US in national security and already have invested in artificial intelligence to determine security breaches for up to 20 miles from their borders.

So please. Spare me the whining about national security. I live in NJ. NY got the worst of lack of national security on 9/11. Don't tell me that the soutnern border is as much at risk as the East Coast.

This person's opinion as an Independent:

"Oh, by the way, there are some very important positives to having a southern border wall with appropriate electronics:

Keep out or thwart illegals, drug traffickers and terrorists
Save men, women and children from dying in the desert
Keep illegals from trashing the desert and U.S. citizens’ property
Keep men, women and children from falling victim to human traffickers
        Less anchor babies
Less immigration hearings and court costs (attorneys, etc.)
Help reduce violence, especially in sanctuary cities
Lessen the number of border patrol agents needed
Help and better protect those agents that continue to patrol the border
        Less welfare recipients
Less school, hospital and medical costs
Less impact on public safety and other resources
More jobs available to legal residents and
Mitigate the fears of many Americans that occur with an open border.
Yes, we need a better immigration system that controls immigration, and a wall will help that control."

        Thank God for opinions.

This isn't about Border Security, it is about Trump's promise to his "base" that he would build a wall. Why he didn't do it when the Republicans had control of both the Senate and House are beyond me. Trump knows that if he loses this battle he loses any hope of a second term. If you want to learn what makes Trump tick, you have to understand what he was like before running for President. Read "Never Enough: Donald Trump and the Pursuit of Success" by Michael D'Antonio.

On the other side of the coin, the Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi are guilty of playing a dangerous and expensive game by helping to create this conflict. If California needed a  5 Billion dollar expansion on the Bay Bridge, she would make the political trade in a heartbeat. That is what politics are all about.

Unless McConnel lets the Senators vote - which is why we elect them - Trump is not going to feel the heat. This impasse will continue to hurt American workers and make us look like the third world banana republics we like to ridicule.

The Indian nation, where the border is wide open, can't control the drug and human trafficking going on there. The youth are facilitating the trafficking due to the money that can be made: Ten thousand dollars a load brought across the border. The elder in the video said he could not stop them. Yet he will defend his/their land with his life.

They come across the border with backpacks of drugs. They come across the borders in known open points of entry. They have special booties to avoid creating tracks in the sand. They wear camouflage or black clothing. They are very stealthy. Pull up a video. There are lots.

go ahead. you may believe whatever you want to believe.  Actually there are enlightened aliens from outer space coming over the border. They are light beings who land their mirrored ships on the Mexican desert. They know where the openings of the fence/wall are and they stroll right in.

Then, they descend into underground caverns on the US side where they are living until the day we are ready to receive their advanced knowledge. You and Crank will one of the first to be greeted by these beautiful aliens and they will tell you that you have always been exactly right.

Well, good for you two! neutral

Only YOU think so. When you can bash Dems who had not one but 2 of the ONLY presidents (Clinton and Obama)  in recent times who LOWERED the national debt and you support a money laundering law breaker, I'd say you need to go back to school and get a real education.

Your posts only exacerbate what all wingers project: Ayn Reed greed, Ann Coulter Rich Daddy's Little Darling and women who can't make it on their own.

And before you go there, I was a Republican woman from 1966 until 2004 when your boys began to play election rigging games.

I'd study the history of the Republican Party. One major scandal after another, starting with Warren Harding's recession and Tea Pot Dome Scandal right up to Reagan's 2nd term recession, Bush '41' one term recession, GWB's 2nd term Financial Meltdown and now the icing on the failed Republican cake. Trump, of the skanky Russian sucking up to Putin, marrying a gold digger Slovenian nude porn model, getting caught lying over 8,000 times, 4,000 plus lawsuits and a money laundering fine.

          That YOUR idea of funny?

I am thankful every day that I wake up still breathing Ewent. And I am glad to see you pop back in.

I don't doubt your explosive capabilities, I can see it in the anger of your posts. You said you could prove what you write, but when your facts were challenged you couldn't, so an explosive tirade was your response. That doesn't seem like a rational reaction to me.

It is possible that I didn't look deep enough for those guilty convictions you claimed. Maybe your long New Jersey history with Trump dealings means you knew where to look, and I didn't. You FinCen link wasn't the proof you claimed, so maybe you have more?

Also, no more finger suggestions, please. I have enough trouble explaining the two that I type with, I don't even want to think about trying to explain your suggestion as justification for unleashing a third one.

              GA
