While there are Americans who contend that the Republican Party is the sensible, even reasonable party, there are others who assert that the Republican Party has become reactionary, even rightist in its sociopolitical philosophy.  The latter maintain that it is the reactionary/rightist faction that is taking over the Republican Party.  While the former believe that the Republican Party is a voice of reason in America & want more solid, basic values, the latter view the Republic Party as an atavistic relic of the past where there was marked inequality, even marginalization of those considered to be outside the so-called norm in American society. Your thoughts?

There is little doubt that both sides are moving leftward, towards a more socialistic community.

The difference is that the left is doing so at their maximum speed, assuming that any change towards socialism is a good thing and beneficial to all.  The right hangs back, choosing to advance at a crawl as they recognize to every time a society has taken this road it has continued to the point of failure; that "too much of a good thing" will destroy us all.

The result is the the gap between the two is widening.  Leftists, seeing the right from further and further away, declares that it is moving right when the truth is that it, too, is moving left...just a reasoned pace rather than breakneck speed without consideration as to long term effects.

I don't know what the Republican party stands for anymore. The seem to have abandoned their long-standing traditional values. They used to be the law enforcement party; now they don't trust the FBI, CIA, or any government law enforcement. They used to be hawkish on foreign policy, but now cater to Putin, abandon the Kurds, and diss our European allies. They used to be the party of traditional family values, but that's long gone. They don't seem to be concerned about the deficit except when a Democrat is in office.

They're still anti-immigration, and not too keen on civil rights, voting rights, or a woman's right to control her own reproductive health.

Personally, I see the GOP as the party of the past with little to offer in this modern world.

The republicans are the ones working to implement the Military-Industrial-Complex whose name they changed to The New World Order which intended to implement Nazi Germany's rule over this nation, also known as Deep State. They were in power when the Concentration Camps were being built all across this nation that so few people realize are here. In that light I can only say that they have failed because once Trump is gone--before this term ends--the Messiah will replace him and use the U.S. Constitution as Revelation 12:5s Rod of Iron to bring world peace and drain the swamp Kim Clement fore told would happen with his leaving office. I believe Clement in saying Trump would not be Impeached as we can see has happened, meant he would not be removed by trial.

Following that line of thought I believe the Republic Party is an atavistic relic of the past where there was marked inequality, even marginalization of those considered to be outside the so-called norm in American society.
