I would not have thought I would ever be praising Gov. 'Salt & Soda' Cuomo, but after watching his press conferences over the last few days I am impressed with his honesty and the way he is addressing his citizens.

I know that is a wide-open door for anti-Trump comments, but Cuomo's approach deserves recognition.

Trump praised Cuomo a short while ago, so apparently he's doing something right, Gus.

I agree, Cuomo is doing everything right when it comes to the virus.  I like the way he uses power points and first gives an over view and then goes into detail about each of his points. I like the way he puts everything into perspective. His approach and agenda should be a model for all other states governors.

He says "The buck stops here!".  Don't be mad at the bartender because the bar is closed. Don't be mad at the mayor. Blame me.  I'm hoping other governors will do this also. We need assurance that adults are guiding the space ship.

Governor Cuomo has an innate ability to communicate.  I appreciate how he sticks to providing clear cut information, sticking to facts as he knows them. I think he is precise as well as honest when explaining what actions are being taken to solve pressing problems that are occurring with the virus crisis. He is realistic, and not providing promises he may not be able to keep.  He appears to have an abundance of common sense when it comes to problem-solving. The very tone of his voice is calm and caring. I think he is doing a good job reassuring the citizens of New York that all is being done to the best of his ability to help keep them as safe as possible. He is providing real hope that in the end "all will be ok."

Gov. Cuomo is a well-rounded man, he would have been a good candidate for president. Not sure the Dems would want a guy that would definitely not be a "whatever you say guy".

Let me clarify my statement a bit. I should have said the Democratic party may not want him or consider backing him. Due to him just not fitting the bill of an "I'll do what you say kind of guy. " In my opinion, many Dems citizens would think him to be, as you said "a great president". As well as many independence might be appt to vote for him. Do you think the party would back him? As I stayed I think the Gov. would make a good candidate. I have been saying all along, all the Dems need is a good candidate. He would be a good one in my opinion. A very good one.

I can't  think of a single person who sought the Democratic nomination who would have conducted themselves much differently that Gov. Cuomo has done. I believe any one of them would have risen to the occasion and displayed similar honesty and leadership. The reason Cuomo is so comforting is that he is giving us what Trump is incapable of giving:  honest, straightforward information, delivered with compassion and humility.

I think many don't remember when the office was held in high esteem by both sides of the aisle, Sandy. Pre Dubya years, perhaps?

I have great respect for Gov. Cuomo and the way he is handling this crisis. As on can see by my previous comment. II also have respect for the President in the way he is handling the crisis. He has taken some major steps at the beginning of the crisis to help keep more people safe. By closing air travel from China he truly cut down the spread of the virus. He was called a racist. he certainly does not promote a ton of compassion. What he does promote, in my opinion, is trust. I trust he is doing everything in his power to try to save lives, and he is doing it quickly. Cutting out red tape. He is also working with Congress to help them create needed financial help for those that need it. He seems to be open to all they have come up with.

He certainly will never be the speaker many want to listen to. He will not likely be comforting to many.  But, I guess it all depends on what gives one comfort, words or deeds. I do see where you're coming from, I really do.

Sorry, I don't see Trump's deeds in the same way you do.I see Trump supporters still minimizing the problem and endangering other's lives and I blame Trump for that. My own stepson, a dumbass Trumper,  pushed his way into our home yesterday while I was out walking. My husband was in bed with the sniffles that just came on yesterday. I am so mad I am forcing myself to wait to tell him what a stupid idiot he is. He is still going out in public and visiting people like he always does. I'll change the goddamned locks if I have to. What a stupid  a$$.  And there are plenty more out there.

I have said this on multiple occasions I respect your feelings. I don't always agree with them, but I understand them. Perhaps we could all here on HP calm down, and be just a bit kinder to one another. Plenty of time after this is all behind us to debate. I hope you and your family remain well.

I think so too, but isn't it a little late for him to get into the race now? Maybe the nominee could select him as a running mate, and he would be there as a backup in case the old fellow became incapacitated or died. I would vote for such a ticket.

Everything he is doing right now is in that vein, he is positioning to run for President, he has always wanted to run for President, his daddy wanted to run for President.

This is his shot and he knows it, he is a corrupt crony NY politician.

In February, weeks AFTER President Trump was shutting down travel from China to America, Cuomo was out there blasting Trump for being a racist and for blowing the issue out of proportion.

That said, he would be a step up from Biden... almost anyone would be who isn't senile.

Anyone would be a step up from Trump, Ken. I do believe Trump is jealous of Cuomo's daily coverage of the virus. He doesn't sugarcoat the situation like Trump has done until late.

I watched a chunk of one of his addresses.

Its a lot of, I can't do it, NY can't do it, we need the Feds to do it.

      CA is much the same.

Yet it is these States that are the highest taxed, most progressive, filled with sanctuary cities, the biggest Welfare states with the most liberal regulations on benefits.

He is out there every day making sure that he is passing the blame... making himself look good, though in fact he is incompetent, NY is a terrible state for regulations and taxation, corruption and cronyism...

Give the man credit for being politically savvy enough to get out there day after day and plant in the voter's minds that it is the Fed who is failing the State of NY, rather than the Gov and his government.

        Sorry Diane, I haven't kept up-to-date. I am suffering from Trump/Coronavius overload. ;-)

I have been binging on the Science Channel and just checking the eleven o'clock news for local updates.

And even so, my forum plate is still overflowing. *double ;-)  ;-)

Because she's "the woman from Michigan," Diane. Trump never uses the word governor when referencing her. It's an intentional slur he simply can't help making. So admirable...

I watch Cuomo every morning for leadership and the straight story. Then, when that other guy comes on I give him a chance to show real leadership. After a few days of this, tomortow, I won't bother with the second guy.

Pretty good for an "old" white guy. I guess 62 isn't old enough to call him old in this day and time. They say 60 is the new 40, so he's just old enough to have the experience that we need without the recklessness of the young.
