The 'best people' can make mistakes. Since no one is perfect. And to err is human.
Trump has hired his cronies for the most part... Otherwise he hires those from the Fox News couch and people he just generally likes the look of...And they have proven over and over that they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.
I believe he has hired people he trusts to help him achieve his agenda. From what he's seen in the past, he's aware of how political bias can hinder the changes he promised to make. Given this, it's smart for him to clean house and surround himself with individuals who can help push his goals forward without that bias.
He's hired a lot of people who are dumb as bricks and they prove it every time they open their mouth. These are sycophants. Yes, hired to say what they are supposed to say. Most of them sound like they're reading a script... Especially Bondi.
Add up the deficits caused by covid stimulus, the TCJA, the IRA, and the BIL, and you still don’t reach the level allowed in the budget passed yesterday.
So much for the party of fiscal discipline. The myth of Republicans being the party of fiscal discipline is an incredible con job.
Make it make sense
Good inflation report — over the past three months of Trump's tumultuous term, inflation appears to be heading in the right direction. It well appears consumor confidence is good. When inflation is cooling or stable, it often boosts confidence because: Hopefully, next month we will see more good news.
What This Morning's Inflation Report
Annual Inflation (Year-over-Year):
In March 2025, inflation was 2.4%.
In February 2025, it was 2.8%.
Economists expected it to be 2.6%, so actual inflation came in lower than expected, which is good news.
Monthly Inflation (Month-over-Month):
Prices fell 0.1% from February to March.
This is especially notable because it’s the first monthly drop in nearly 5 years.
Why It may have happened:
A big driver was lower gas prices, which dropped 9.8% over the last year.
Drill baby drill ---- Despite the national slowdown in new drilling permits or total rig count, production is still growing overall. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) projects:
I think we will see the same or not better next month. You were predicting this report would be bad the other day- all that handwringing for nothing. Maybe we can wait and see what next month brings. I am hoping our nation well --- seems like you hope all fails. I don't understand this new form of mindset some have these days. For me, my money is on Trump.
I just give him so much credit. He is truly working to keep his promises.
The current report is a report that is almost identical over the last months of the Biden Administration.... Reports that Maga folks consistently called devastating... Remember how much Maga folks said that they were just absolutely suffering? And now they are magically positive? Absolutely not. My money is on reality, not a man... That's the problem with the "mindset" of some today, it's commonly called a cult of personality.
His drill baby drill phrase is completely misleading...
increased drilling in the United States may lead to a slight increase in the domestic oil supply, it doesn't necessarily translate to lower gas prices at the pump. The global oil market heavily influences gasoline prices, and U.S. oil production only has a minor impact....
Let me count just a few of the ways oil dictates our economy.
Perhaps it's time for a refresher course on how lower oil prices directly benefit our economy. When oil prices are lower, it reduces transportation and manufacturing costs, which in turn helps lower the price of goods and services across the board. This results in more disposable income for consumers, stimulates demand in various industries, and generally supports economic growth. Under Biden’s administration, oil prices surged significantly. In 2022, the average price of oil reached around $120 per barrel at its peak, which put substantial pressure on families and businesses.
However, after Biden left office and Trump took office for his second term in 2025, oil prices saw a noticeable decline. By January 2025, the price of oil per barrel had dropped to approximately $75 per barrel, thanks to a renewed emphasis on energy independence and policies aimed at boosting domestic production. This price reduction is a clear example of how a strong, pro-energy policy can lead to lower costs at the pump, benefiting American families and businesses alike.
The cost of oil is a key driver in broader economic trends, and when oil is cheaper, it helps to reinvigorate industries, boost consumer confidence, and even reduce inflationary pressures. Lower oil prices under Trump’s second term should be seen as a clear advantage for the overall economy, not just a temporary relief.
Oil is one of the most significant drivers of economic health, and its impact on inflation, consumer spending, and overall growth is undeniable.
Oil plays a central role in the cost of nearly everything, from transportation to manufacturing, and even the prices consumers see in stores. When oil prices go up, it generally causes a ripple effect, pushing the costs of goods and services higher. On the other hand, when oil prices decrease, it can serve as an economic booster.
Trump is using oil as one variable to quickly decrease inflation. Thus far, it is working.
You went off course...and none of this changes the fact that increased drilling of oil in America does not lower our gas prices.
And you consider that a bad thing? We were discussing inflation, and I shared a positive stat about the March numbers. You jumped in with a response to my “drill, baby, drill” comment—which I took as part of the same conversation. So why shift the focus now? It seems like you're trying to divert the discussion just as we’re getting to one of the core reasons inflation is easing: energy policy. Let’s stay on track—oil prices matter, and they’re a big part of the story behind the improved numbers.
I stand behind what I said, increased drilling in America does not translate to lower gas prices. And low oil prices become a detriment to some degree at a certain point.
"I stand behind what I said, increased drilling in America does not translate to lower gas prices. And low oil prices become a detriment to some degree at a certain point." willow
Biden chose to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to add more oil to the global market, with the goal of bringing down prices. By increasing the supply, the idea was to ease the pressure on gas prices at the pump, as oil is priced globally and more supply generally leads to lower prices. In contrast, Trump prefers to increase domestic oil production through drilling to bring down energy prices. Trump's approach focuses on boosting U.S. production to directly increase supply and reduce reliance on foreign sources, aiming to lower prices by making more oil available without depleting national reserves.
When countries produce more oil, there’s more oil available in the global market. Just like anything else—when the supply goes up and demand stays the same, the price usually goes down. That includes the price of crude oil, which is the main ingredient in gasoline.
Gas stations buy gasoline that’s refined from crude oil, so when crude oil becomes cheaper, it costs less to make gas. As a result, prices at the pump tend to go down, too. So yes, when nations (including the U.S.) drill and produce more oil, it usually leads to lower gas prices for consumers.is a simple exslnateion.
I find you have not explained your reasoning.
Yes, oil is a global market in which we contribute to. We are just one contribution.
Saudi Arabia could counteract an increase in US oil supply by adjusting its own production. Saudi Arabia, as a major player in OPEC, has the capacity to cut its own output or encourage other members to do so, thereby reducing the overall global supply and potentially pushing prices back up.... They'll act in their own interest. We are just one player in this game.
You are digging yourself in deeper. As the US is now acting in its best interest.
This argument doesn't hold up because it overlooks the complexity of global oil markets and the influence of U.S. production. While it's true that Saudi Arabia and OPEC control a significant portion of global oil supply, they cannot simply offset increases in U.S. production indefinitely. If the U.S. increases its oil supply, it affects the overall market, including pricing, regardless of Saudi actions.
Saudi Arabia may try to cut its production to raise prices, but it’s not guaranteed to succeed. Other oil producers, like the U.S. and Russia, have become more competitive and can adjust their production to fill any gaps left by OPEC. In addition, the global demand for oil is a crucial factor—if demand doesn’t keep pace with supply, no amount of production cuts will be able to push prices back up substantially.
The reality is that while Saudi Arabia has influence, the U.S. plays a pivotal role in shaping the market. When the U.S. increases production, it doesn’t simply act as a passive player—it can push prices lower and shift market dynamics, even if Saudi Arabia tries to curb its output. So, we're not just "one player"—we're an increasingly influential one in the global oil market.
Your post completely supports what I posted.

While it’s true that oil is a global market and the U.S. is only one contributor, it's misleading to underplay the influence the U.S. has in that market. The United States is not just "one player"—it’s one of the largest oil producers in the world. In fact, in recent years, the U.S. has led global oil production, often outpacing both Saudi Arabia and Russia.
Yes, Saudi Arabia can adjust its production to influence prices, but so can the U.S.—especially through policies that affect drilling, pipeline construction, and export regulations. U.S. decisions, such as shutting down pipelines or limiting federal leases, absolutely impact global supply and investor expectations, which in turn influence prices.
Furthermore, the idea that Saudi Arabia alone can offset U.S. production increases oversimplifies how markets react. If the U.S. floods the market with oil, OPEC can try to cut production, but it doesn’t always work smoothly. OPEC members have different priorities, and compliance is often shaky. Also, cuts don’t always fully offset demand-side effects, especially if global economies are expanding.
So, to say “we are just one player” ignores the strategic and economic leverage the U.S. holds. It’s not about acting alone—it’s about recognizing that U.S. energy policy does move global markets and has ripple effects far beyond our borders.
Adding to while seeking not to dispute the numbers shared. The economy can be measured in different ways/methods. What is important from my life experience is take that snap shot of where is where and use it to plot the next step. So, having all the information is important. So, again, adding to . . .
US consumer sentiment plummets to second-lowest level on records going back to 1952 by CNN Business (Apr 11, 2025)
https://www.cnn.com/2025/04/11/economy/ … 4380790576
" Consumer sentiment plunged 11% this month to a preliminary reading of 50.8, the University of Michigan said in its latest survey released Friday, the second-lowest reading on records going back to 1952. April’s reading was lower than anything seen during the Great Recession.
President Donald Trump’s volatile trade war, which threatens higher inflation, has significantly weighed on Americans’ moods these past few months. That malaise worsened leading up to Trump’s announcement last week of sweeping tariffs, according to the survey."
That leaves me wondering what the world of retail will do to increase the buyers mood for instance to spend other than essentials while many are tailoring their budgets today banking on inflation. In other words, saving today for a rainy day arriving in the not so far off future.
See at that article . . .

Of course, I am no expert and this is just a novice view point. I know what I am doing with my $$.
Yes, just saw this .. horrendous numbers.
Consumer sentiment tumbles in April as inflation fears spike, University of Michigan survey shows...
"The University of Michigan consumer survey's mid-month reading on sentiment fell to 50.8, down from 57.0 in March and below the Dow Jones consensus estimate for 54.6.
Respondents' expectation for inflation a year from now leaped to 6.7%, the highest level since November 1981 and up from 5% in March."
"Sentiment declines came across all demographics, including age, income and political affiliation, according to Joanne Hsu, the survey director."
America is worried about inflation for sure...

Megyn Kelly roasted Kristi Noem for her ‘ICE Barbie’ stunts... The bunch that Trump has assembled are laughable...these are not serious people.
https://x.com/nowthisimpact/status/1910830362579677277
I'm not sure why anyone would try to shame another woman, especially one who really shouldn't be throwing stones. Go figure. Kristi Noem is a woman with a long history of wearing makeup, and she's definitely a beautiful woman. It's a shame that this seems to be all people can focus on when it comes to going after her. In my opinion, she's doing her job, and I think it's great that a woman is in that position.
I know women can sometimes be catty – some more than others – but I try to stay away from that drama. I guess I could be called high-maintenance too, but it's just not my thing.
As of April 2025, Kristi Noem has been serving as the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security since January 25, 2025. Her tenure has been marked by several significant actions and policy shifts: After a short two months ---
Relaunching the VOICE Office: Noem reinstated the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement (VOICE) Office, which had been disbanded by the previous administration. The office focuses on supporting families affected by crimes committed by undocumented immigrants, providing legal aid and enforcement updates.
New York Post
Revoking Temporary Protected Status: She rescinded legal protections for approximately 532,000 individuals from countries including Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua, who had been granted Temporary Protected Status since 2022.
Leading Immigration Enforcement Operations: Noem has actively participated in high-profile immigration enforcement raids. Notably, she led a raid in Phoenix, Arizona, resulting in the arrest of undocumented immigrants with serious criminal backgrounds.
Issuing Environmental Waivers for Border Wall Construction: She authorized waivers to bypass environmental laws, facilitating the expedited construction of additional border barriers in Southern California.
AP News
Offering Buyouts to DHS Employees: Noem announced a voluntary workforce reduction across the Department of Homeland Security, including agencies like FEMA, ICE, and CBP, aiming to align staffing with evolving mission needs.
Politico
These actions reflect Noem's commitment to a stringent immigration enforcement policy and a streamlined approach to the Department of Homeland Security's operations.
Public Campaign Against Illegal Immigration
She launched a multimillion-dollar ad campaign urging illegal aliens to leave the U.S. voluntarily or face deportation with no chance of return
Department of Homeland Security Secretary and former South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem broke a fundamental rule of gun safety this week when she appeared to let a rifle’s muzzle tilt toward an agent’s face during a staged photo, Wyoming firearms experts told Cowboy State Daily.
It's called “muzzle sweep” — or carelessly letting the muzzle of a firearm point toward others. It breaks one of the cardinal rules of firearms safety: Always keep your gun pointed in a safe direction....
She's here for the cosplay... Not the brightest bulb.
Her staged photo ops are an embarrassment to women. Kelly:s criticism is totally on point.

What do you think?
"The Trump administration is asking Congress to eliminate funding for Head Start, a move that would cut early education for more than half a million of the nation’s neediest children and child care for their families.
The proposal is tucked in a 64-page internal draft budget document obtained by The Associated Press.."
“The budget does not fund Head Start,” according to the draft. It says eliminating the program is consistent with the Trump administration’s “goals of returning control of education to the states and increasing parental control.”
This is a good thing??
I don't know how eduction is run in America.
Head Start is an educational program that promotes the cognitive, social, and emotional development of young children. These programs focus on preparing children for school by supporting growth in literacy, math, social-emotional skills, and physical development. Notably, study after study show that children who attend Head Start demonstrate better readiness for kindergarten compared to those who do not attend....
Education is being attacked from all ends in this country.
It's a fact...Authoritarian regimes target education as a strategic way to control societies... we currently have a man in office who fancies himself a dictator.
I like the Head Start bent. But I don't like education being channel into the drain pipe.
Over the years, I've come across reports of suspected fraud and misuse of funds in various programs. I believe it's worth salvaging Head Start, focusing on addressing the issues instead of completely eliminating them.
As for the AP article, there's no clear source mentioned, which makes me cautious. It could just be another attempt to undermine Trump. The Associated Press reported on a proposed cut to the Head Start program, citing a draft of the Trump administration's 2026 budget. However, the AP didn’t disclose the source of the document, describing it only as "obtained" by the news outlet, which implies it was leaked. The article doesn't identify who leaked it, and since it's still a draft, nothing is official yet.
The source of the AP article was the actual 64-page document outlining cutting the program completely. I do agree, the program should not be thrown out. It would be an immense setback to education in this country. It's benefits have been well documented.
And not to be outdone by his clown car cohorts...In an administration populated with unjustifiably self-assured losers, Kennedy stands out as one of the most farcical. A man with no medical experience who spent years spouting dangerous anti-vaccine garbage is now head of HHS and has decided that he alone can figure out something as complex as autism....
RFK JR stood before the cameras and declared that kids on the autism spectrum “will never pay taxes, never hold a job, never use a toilet unassisted.” He called autism “a preventable disease” and promised a lightning-fast investigation to root out its so-called environmental causes. He brushed aside decades of scientific research and equated a complex neurodevelopmental condition with contamination...
Kennedy’s first thoughts in that screed were that kids with autism “will never pay taxes” or "hold a job." That tells you all you need to know about him. Kennedy should be ashamed of the way he described autistic children.... And we should all be embarrassed.
This is the man responsible for guiding the United States’ national health policy. This isn’t merely misinformation. It’s an entire new level of fear-mongering.
Not only are Kennedy’s words utterly dehumanizing, but read the room, bro. The speech came less than 24 hours after Victor Perez, a 17-year-old Idaho teenager with autism, was laid to rest after being shot nine times by police this month....
The rise in autism diagnoses isn’t some sinister explosion. It’s the result of expanded diagnostic criteria, better awareness, and broader access to evaluations, especially in historically underserved communities. Pediatricians and child psychologists, you know, the actual experts, say this is good news. It means kids are getting the support they need earlier, when it can make the biggest difference.
But Kennedy dismisses all of that. He’s dragging the country backward into the discredited territory of vaccine conspiracies and poisoned-air paranoia...all while ignoring the voices of actual autistic people and the researchers who understand the complexities of this condition.
The good news? Parents of autistic children have had enough. Bobby is one more government official turning their children into a soundbite for political capital. They will write, they will speak loudly. The parents of millions of autistic children who are mortified at the depiction of their children, will undoubtedly reject this premise at the ballot box.
RFK Jr. is a babbling conspiracy theorist, not a serious person...Republicans voted for this.
Oh my .. no workers. No fear, Maga it's your time to shine...

In my view, this is completely uncalled for. Posting something like this shows a clear lack of judgment and, frankly, intelligence. Insulting people just because you're behind a screen says a lot—and none of it reflects well on you. You're trolling. You’d think you might have given up by now, especially since no one’s taken your bait.
But it is the policies that Maga has voted for that have created this situation...Louisiana is experiencing a migrant worker shortage. That's a fact
What policy? Not sure why citizens who voted for Trump created a problem for migrant workers who apply to legally work in the US.
Trump has essentially, illegally shut down asylum... He has so many immigration lawsuits against the administration at this point it's hard to keep track. And yes, his actions are impacting the ability to harvest food
But again, what specific policy are you referring to that MAGA voted for? He does have several lawsuits, many of which have been appealed and won, with some still awaiting appeal and others already decided by the Supreme Court in his favor. I'd be curious to know which policies you're talking about. How exactly did Trump's policies affect the ability to harvest food? The H-2A Temporary Agricultural Workers Program was in place to bring in workers legally. Trump has not impeded those programs. Sorry, you need to answer my question, but you choose to divert.
This is pretty disturbing...a sad admission from Lisa Murkowski about the state of our government.

Trump’s assault on universities has now merged with his attack on immigrants. In an escalation of his fury at Harvard, the Lock and Load Barbie has just put Harvard on notice that the administration will stop it from receiving foreign students if the university doesn’t provide information on students to the government.
It’s deeply sick stuff. Meanwhile, on another front, GOP Senator Lisa Murkowski openly admitted that the current climate is chilling speech by creating a widespread terror of retaliation. Taken together, these developments make it clear that the success or failure of Trump’s authoritarian takeover will turn in no small part on whether people and institutions crumble in the face of the climate of rage and fear Trump and his bunch are trying to create. Truly remarkable times.

Lying is really what Trump does best..Trump claimed today that gas “hit $1.98 yesterday in a couple of states.” Not true. No state had an average gas price lower than $2.70
How do you folks reconcile this nonsense? please tell me how it feels when Trump just blatantly lies publicly by saying things we all know are not true like $1.98 gas and egg prices dropping 92%?
https://x.com/Mollyploofkins/status/1913262858034413703
How do you "reconcile" the blatant lies, exaggerations and false insinuations put out by the left? Specifically by the person going under the name "Willowarbor"?
Trump says gas "hit $198 in a couple of states" and you jump to "That's a lie because average cost was more than that". Apples to oranges: spot prices are not statewide averages. How do you justify pretending that they two are identical just so that you can demonize Trump for lying? Is it that "the ends justify the means"?
His quote .., “You have gasoline that hit $1.98 yesterday in a couple of states.”
No, it did not. It did not hit this price in even one state. His statement is a lie. Therefore he is a liar. Gas prices aren't even falling since he took office...
"As of early Friday morning (April 11), the national average price of regular gasoline was $3.210 a gallon, according to AAA data, down from $3.268 a week earlier and from $3.630 a year earlier—but still up from a month earlier, when it was $3.081."
https://www.newsweek.com/gas-prices-not … ng-2058407
Again with the intentional misrepresentation.
Did the price of gas hit $1.98 at one gas station, in one town, in one state? Perhaps a station having an old time "gas war" with the one across the street? Or one going out of business and selling off it's stock? Wanting to empty a tank in order to dig it up and replace it?
Because two of those, in different states, is all it takes to make his statement true. Trump did not mention average gas prices across the state, just that two specific locations had that price (or less). It was only you that twisted and changed his words into what they were not in order to call him a liar.
So who is lying; Trump making a simple statement or you, intentionally trying to convince a reader that Trump said something he did not?
I’m waiting for a response to my comment about my thoughts on the lies told by Biden and Obama. Were you as bothered by those blatant falsehoods? Sorry, but it’s time to push back. You opened a huge, ugly door here. The Democrats lied about Biden’s confusion and let him sit in the most powerful position in the world. This may very well go down in history as the biggest lie of the century. How do you feel about this? For me, it’s an unforgivable lie—a lie that deserves investigation, and those responsible should be held accountable.
Conspiracy or cover-up: If a group of individuals conspired to hide the President's cognitive issues for political gain or to manipulate decisions, they could potentially be investigated for conspiracy or obstruction of justice, but again, there would need to be clear evidence of criminal intent and harm.
It seems like some people are just looking for anything to fuel their daily "I hate Trump" fix. TDS really is a frustrating condition.
Lol surely you can see that his argument was completely disingenuous ... Trump said nothing about the "average" cost...
I’ve pointed out a long list of disingenuous statements, yet you continue to respond without addressing any of them directly. Honestly, if I were in your shoes, I’d be a bit embarrassed trying to compare those serious lies with something like a misleading comment about gas prices. Many in the Democratic Party have gone out of their way to cover up Biden’s condition, and some were even reckless enough to make obvious misstatements live on air.
So let’s be real: lying about gas prices versus lying about whether the president is mentally fit to govern—anyone with a shred of common sense should be able to weigh those two and see which one is far more serious for the country. Frankly, this administration needs to be held accountable.

( I give Biden a pass; the man was suffering from problems brought about by dementia.) I hold his handlers responsible for LYING about his cognitive issues... And so many did.) By the way, how did you feel about the many that covered up Biden's very visible cognitive issues?
I could follow the pages of history and point out lies that almost every president uttered.
Regarding the price of gas--- I am pleased to see it at $2,78 at my local gas station. Seems to be headed down to 2020 prices, finally.
The reality of gas prices...

I won't re-litigate every accusation of lying in presidential history. My view? Presidents shouldn't blatantly lie. Was Trump's gas lie a product of faltering mentation? Just an outright lie for the sake of lying? Just doesn't know any better? I don't know .. we certainly could have an entire thread on the daily lies that get put forward by this Administration
We could certainly compare the severity of the lies at this point. But it's clear you're not willing to directly address my questions. Honestly, I find that hypocritical. Every time I ask something directly, you divert. I find that mindset skewed in many ways—just the fact that you can't engage with the other side of an issue tells me it's best to walk away from this conversation. It's a big waste of time.
I think I was quite direct, president shouldn't blatantly lie. And while we're at it, I'll go on record seeing their presidents should adhere to and uphold the Constitution...how about you?
Same here---
As of April 19, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court has not ruled that any actions taken by President Donald Trump during his current term are unconstitutional. While several of his policies have faced legal challenges, the Court has not issued definitive rulings declaring them unconstitutional. As of yet. I have no idea what will come down when the many cases against Trump make their way to the Supreme Court.. Nor will I predict, due to listening to media fodder.
Several actions taken by President Joe Biden during his term have been found unconstitutional or unlawful by the U.S. Supreme Court. Here are some notable examples:
Student Loan Forgiveness Program – Biden v. Nebraska (2023)
Issue: The Biden administration's plan aimed to forgive up to $430 billion in student loan debt for millions of borrowers.
Supreme Court Ruling: In a 6–3 decision, the Court held that the administration exceeded its authority under the HEROES Act. The majority concluded that such a significant debt cancellation required clear congressional authorization and fell under the "major questions doctrine," which limits executive actions on issues of vast economic and political significance without explicit congressional approval.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Authority – West Virginia v. EPA (2022)
Issue: The Biden administration sought to implement regulations aimed at reducing carbon emissions from power plants.
Supreme Court Ruling: The Court ruled that the EPA lacked the authority to adopt such sweeping regulations without explicit congressional authorization. This decision was based on the "major questions doctrine," emphasizing that agencies cannot make decisions of vast economic and political significance without clear congressional mandate.
Affirmative Action in College Admissions
Issue: The Biden administration supported the use of race-conscious admissions policies in higher education to promote diversity.
American Tribune
Supreme Court Ruling: In Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard University (2023), the Court ruled that race-based admissions policies violate the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. This decision effectively overturned decades of precedent allowing such policies.

Bump Stock" Ban
Issue: The administration's regulation aimed to ban bump stocks, devices that enable semi-automatic rifles to fire more rapidly.
Supreme Court Ruling: The Court declined to hear an appeal challenging the ban, allowing the lower court's decision to stand. This effectively upheld the administration's regulation.
Wikipedia
Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
Issue: The Biden administration sought to preserve and fortify DACA, an Obama-era program that protects eligible immigrant youth from deportation.
Supreme Court Ruling: In Department of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California (2020), the Court ruled that the administration's attempt to rescind DACA was unlawful due to procedural errors. While the Court did not rule on the program's constitutionality, it emphasized the need for proper procedures in altering such significant policies.
I guess Trump has some catching up to do.
Having the Supreme Court rule against an Administration policy is one thing but it is quite another when an Administration continues to act against that ruling. Essentially ignoring the Court's ruling. Scotus has told this Administration they need to adhere to due process as afforded in our constitution, yet just last night they were trying to shuttle people on to planes... I'm not sure if any other Administration has brazenly ignored court orders.
In the examples posted, did any of these prior administrations continue to act on their agenda when the court ordered them to stop?
The defiance is the point here. SCOTUS had to rule in the middle of the night to stop this bunch...
Trump doesn't respect the laws, he's a wannabe dictator and that's the big difference...
Well, if you're not willing to revisit the lies of other presidents—and the serious consequences of some of those lies—then maybe it's wise not to single out something like a comment about gas prices. In my view, the Democrats have buried themselves in far more serious lies, ones that genuinely put our nation at risk. It’s clear you only see one side and never—never—take a moment to consider the other side of the coin. When a comment doesn’t fit your narrative, you deflect, spin, and change the subject.

Gallup poll is very similar --- However, they have added a bit regarding---
"Trust in the economic judgment of all other U.S. leaders. "Public confidence in U.S. Democratic leaders’ economic handling is even lower, including for House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (30%), Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (25%) and the Democratic leaders in Congress in general (25%).
Majorities of Americans have only a little or almost no confidence in the economic management of each of the leaders included in the poll except for Powell, doubted by 50%, because he garners the highest “no opinion” rating (14%)."
"Trump’s first-quarter average for his second term includes his latest 44% approval rating, from an April 1-14 poll, with 53% of Americans currently disapproving of the way he is handling his job. This is in line with the previous three readings during his second term. Of these, his highest individual approval rating this year was the first one — 47% in January.
Partisans’ ratings of Trump are stable, with 90% of Republicans and 4% of Democrats expressing approval of the president’s job performance. Independents’ current 37% approval has been steady since February but is nine percentage points lower than their inaugural rating of Trump.
The latest poll was conducted during a period of economic turbulence in the U.S. as positive employment and gross domestic product reports in early April were overshadowed by Trump's announcement of sweeping tariffs on April 2. Those tariffs triggered a sharp stock market decline. Despite a temporary 90-day pause on some tariffs by Trump on April 9 and the easing of other terms since then, market instability has persisted. Some economists warn of a potential recession, citing declining consumer confidence, volatile markets and signs of slowing growth.
Americans Have Subpar Confidence in Leaders on the Economy
Amid the economic uncertainty in April, 44% of U.S. adults say they have confidence in Trump to recommend or do the right thing for the economy, including 30% with “a great deal” of confidence and 14% with “a fair amount.” Meanwhile, a majority of Americans indicate they have either “only a little” confidence in the president (11%) or “almost none” (44%).
Trust in the economic judgment of all other U.S. leaders rated in the poll is weaker than for Trump, with fewer than four in 10 Americans saying they have a great deal or fair amount of confidence in the Republican leaders in Congress in general (39%), Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell (37%), Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (36%) and Senate Republican Leader John Thune (33%).
Public confidence in U.S. Democratic leaders’ economic handling is even lower, including for House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries (30%), Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (25%) and the Democratic leaders in Congress in general (25%).

Pope Sends Deputy to Lecture Vance on Compassion at Vatican...
YES.
Pope Francis did not attend the Vatican’s official meeting with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Saturday, instead having his No. 2 deliver a lecture on compassion, according to a Vatican statement.
Pope Francis was absent from Vance’s conversation with Cardinal Pietro Parolin. However, the statement said there was “an exchange of opinions on the international situation, especially regarding countries affected by war, political tensions and difficult humanitarian situations, with particular attention to migrants, refugees, and prisoners.”
I love it. JD came for a photo op. The Vatican offered him a moral mirror instead....
This, in a way, reminds me of Fauci. Fauci made it clear from early on that his thrust was NOT running the country during a pandemic; it was saving lives. It didn't matter to him how much damage he did to the economy, jobs, the country, etc. - it was all about how many lives could be saved without consideration for the total results.
The Pope's thrust is not how to run a country; it is how to force the Church's moral structure onto others. The end results for the country in question are irrelevant, for it is all about pushing forward the Pope's concept of morality.
They hypocrisy is interesting to see as well, for the Pope cares nothing about that, either. Vatican city could house many thousands of refugees/homeless/prisoners and the wealth of the church could feed and clothe them indefinitely, but that isn't going to happen. Instead the wealth of others, taken against their will, must be used rather than using Church wealth to promote the Pope's morality structure.
First --- Pope Francis did meet with U.S. Vice President JD Vance on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Vatican. The meeting was brief and took place at the Casa Santa Marta, where the Pope resides.
The Pope is a man who promotes peace and exemplifies human kindness, continuing a long tradition upheld by Popes throughout history. Across generations, Popes have consistently called on world leaders to choose diplomacy over conflict, empathy over aggression, and unity over division. Their message has always been rooted in the moral and spiritual imperative to preserve human dignity and life. Whether through letters, speeches, or private meetings, the papacy has often served as a voice of conscience during times of war and political turmoil. While I need not list the many instances in which Popes have sent formal letters or personally appealed to presidents and leaders, history is rich with examples where the Vatican has implored those in power to choose peace over war and to act with compassion, even amid adversity.
A mirror reflects whoever stands before it — and in this case, it would have been Obama’s image, unmistakably front and center.
I would have loved to see Obama's face in that mirror --- Pope Francis made multiple appeals to President Obama and the international community to stop the war in Syria, especially in the years 2013 through 2016, when the conflict intensified. His most direct and formal message was the letter sent in September 2013. Too many examples to post, the Pope implored Obama over and over, and over to seek peace.
Letter to President Obama (September 2013)
This was his most direct diplomatic plea:
Sent just before the G20 summit in Russia, where Obama was seeking support for a strike against Assad.
Pope Francis warned against the futility of war and said it would cause more innocent deaths.
Called for restraint and a ceasefire, urging Obama and others to seek political and diplomatic solutions.
“To all men and women of goodwill, I make a heartfelt appeal for them to help find ways to overcome the blind conflict and brutality that threatens to ruin that nation.”
A lot of deflection to the past. We can continue to debate or re- litigate the past or live in the future. Wrongs of the past don't absolve wrongs in the present.
I’m simply choosing to point out the other side of the coin. The Pope’s message to JD Vance is not something new or unique to this moment. The Vatican has long urged world leaders to seek peace and lead with compassion. In fact, Pope Francis has consistently called on leaders across different administrations to prioritize diplomacy and empathy. A clear example is his 2013 letter to President Obama, urging him to pursue peace over military action. That appeal wasn’t a one-time gesture, but part of a broader, ongoing message the Pope extends to all leaders, regardless of politics or era. So no, this isn’t about deflecting to the past; it’s about recognizing that the Vatican’s call for peace and human dignity is a timeless and universal message, not something suddenly invented for the present administration.
Man he really gets the gospel doesn't he?
"Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting and scheming so hard to bring Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, the Mentally Insane, and well known MS-13 Gang Members and Wife Beaters, back into our Country. Happy Easter also to the WEAK and INEFFECTIVE Judges and Law Enforcement Officials who are allowing this sinister attack on our Nation to continue, an attack so violent that it will never be forgotten! Sleepy Joe Biden purposefully allowed Millions of CRIMINALS to enter our Country, totally unvetted and unchecked, through an Open Borders Policy that will go down in history as the single most calamitous act ever perpetrated upon America. He was, by far, our WORST and most Incompetent President, a man who had absolutely no idea what he was doing -- But to him, and to the person that ran and manipulated the Auto Pen (perhaps our REAL President!), and to all of the people who CHEATED in the 2020 Presidential Election in order to get this highly destructive Moron Elected, I wish you, with great love, sincerity, and affection, a very Happy Easter!!! He is a disgrace. And so are his followers that defend and cheer everything he does.
Since we're talking about polls how about a world view . . .
America’s reputation drops across the world published by Ipsos (Apr 17, 2025)
https://www.ipsos.com/en/americas-reput … -the-world
"The proportion saying the United States will have a positive influence on world affairs has fallen in 26 out of 29 countries over the last six months. America’s reputation has fallen most markedly in Canada. For the first time in our decade-long survey series, China is placed ahead of the US when it comes to playing a positive role on the international scene."
This is hardly surprising; close the pocketbook and "friends" suddenly become more akin to a snarling, hungry dog than an actual friend. We have tried for decades (since WWII?) to buy our friends and it is finally becoming rather obvious just who are actually friends, and who are charity cases demanding we pay for the privilege of calling them "friend".
We make friends. But not with money or wealth.

China warns nations against 'appeasing' US in trade deals...
China has warned it will hit back at countries that make deals with the US that hurt Beijing's interests, as the trade war between the world's two biggest economies threatens to drag in other nations.
The comments come after reports that the US plans to pressure governments to restrict trade with China in exchange for exemptions to US tariffs.
Appeasement cannot bring peace, and compromise cannot earn one respect," a Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson said.
"China firmly opposes any party reaching a deal at the expense of China's interests. If this happens, China will never accept it and will resolutely take countermeasures".
The remarks echoed an editorial last week in the state-controlled China Daily, which warned the European Union against trying to "appease" the US."

I prefer Gallup polls—their reputation speaks for itself. They’re consistently unbiased, and this month’s results are especially interesting and worth checking out.
"Bottom Line
Trump averaged a 45% job approval rating in the first quarter of his second term — slightly better than his first term but well below post-World War II presidential norms. Confidence in his economic leadership remains low at 44%, though it surpasses ratings for other U.S. leaders, including those in Congress and at the Federal Reserve. Republicans’ confidence in their party’s economic leadership is strong, while Democrats’ confidence in their own party’s leadership is historically low."

Vice President JD Vance: U.S. Delivered “Explicit Proposal” to End Russia-Ukraine War
Speaking to reporters in India, Vice President JD Vance revealed that the United States has put forward a “very explicit proposal” to both Russia and Ukraine in a push to end the war that has dragged on for more than three years. He indicated that the U.S. may walk away from the negotiations if no agreement is reached.
“We've made a direct proposal to both sides, and the time has come for them to either accept it or for the U.S. to step back from the process,” Vance said. “We’ve invested heavily in diplomacy and on-the-ground efforts, but the only real way to end the bloodshed is for both armies to lay down their weapons, freeze the conflict, and focus on building a better future for Russia and Ukraine.”
Vance’s remarks come on the heels of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s announcement that he would not attend upcoming ceasefire talks in London. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce cited "logistical issues" for the change in plans.
Rubio later posted on X that he intended to follow up after the London meetings and reschedule his trip to the U.K. in the coming months. In his absence, Gen. Keith Kellogg, the special presidential envoy for Ukraine, will represent the U.S. at the talks.
On Friday, Rubio warned that the U.S. could abandon its diplomatic efforts within “a matter of days,” despite President Donald Trump’s ongoing push for a ceasefire. Speaking to the press, Trump backed Rubio’s stance, stating, “He’s right — we want to see this end.”
“Think about it. Every day, people are dying while leaders stall and play games. We’re not going to tolerate that,” Trump said. He added that he believes the U.S. still has “a good chance” of brokering peace between Russia and Ukraine.
If America pulls its backing for Ukraine... they are F'd.
That simple.
Take away our Starlink access and monetary support and missiles and they are done... the war ends... poorly for Ukraine.
If the EU nations are idiotic enough to send their people in mass to the front lines of that war they will get wiped out without the American support.
The EU's tough stance... well they need to be slapped in the face by America... HARD... with some reality checks... as in they are in no position to try to take on Russia and its allies without the US... so F them if they want to try and go it alone... let them.
I couldn’t agree more, Ken. I still remember our conversations as we watched Russia amass troops on Ukraine’s border for months leading up to the invasion. And I remember your predictions, many of which have unfortunately come to pass. I’ve often asked myself: why on earth did NATO push forward with what was clearly an unwinnable war? And now, with the growing likelihood that the U.S. may step back, it seems inevitable others will follow. I just hope Zelensky recognizes the reality, he never really had strong cards to play, and now even those may be slipping away.
In a way... we are trying walk ourselves back from WWIII which we are already in and have been for sometime...
It remains to be seen if we have the will and determination to de-escalate...
Maybe the Biden Administration did everything they could think of to ensure there is no going back... Iran, China, Russia, North Korea and likely others have flipped the switch... continued political control and economic necessities may be forcing them to continue to go forward with their efforts to "overthrow" America's continued control/domination of world events.
“Yeah, it really does feel like we’re living through a slow-motion World War III, not in the traditional sense with trenches and declarations, but in this tangled, global power struggle that’s already underway. The scary part is, you’re right: we may already be past the point where ‘de-escalation’ is a simple option.
And honestly, it’s hard not to look at the Biden administration and wonder if they’ve backed us into a corner with a series of reckless moves, poking at every major adversary simultaneously, instead of playing the long game. Maybe it wasn’t all intentional, but the end result sure looks like a global coalition of resistance against U.S. influence, and we’re not exactly offering off-ramps.
It’s not just about military strength anymore, it’s about whether we have the strategic vision and political guts to hit the brakes and rethink our role on the world stage, before the wheels really come off. But if the goal was to keep the war machine running and global dominance intact at any cost, then yeah… maybe this is the point of no return.
Seems like folks are saying that Trump and crew aren't competent enough to broker a peace deal. It is somehow Biden's fault that they can't negotiate an end to this war?
"I’ve often asked myself: why on earth did NATO push forward with what was clearly an unwinnable war?
NATO didn't push war forward ? What more could have been done? More negotiation? If that's the case then Trump and crew should be able to solve this with negotiation, right? It looks like they are looking for the exits right now and anyone to blame other than themselves for failing to fulfill the promise of ending the war...
The United Nations fails in her effort to end the war. The buck falls on her.

Judge blocks Trump administration from requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote...
In a 120-page opinion, U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly stated
"Our Constitution entrusts Congress and the States—not the President—with the authority to regulate federal elections,” she wrote. “No statutory delegation of authority to the Executive Branch permits the President to short-circuit Congress’s deliberative process by executive order.”
She concluded that Trump’s unilateral effort to reshape elections exceeds his own authority, noting that the Department of Justice “offered almost no defense of the President’s order.”
If Trump wishes to reform election processes, she wrote, Congress would be the appropriate branch to do so, adding Congress is “currently debating legislation that would effect many of the changes the President purports to order.”
The whole "govern by executive order" thing really isn't working out is it?

As I said, if people get upset over no improvement in the kitchen table issues, Congress members will have a hard time supporting Trump, I am counting on that.

More judicial setbacks for dear leader...
"Federal judges in Maryland, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C., on Thursday blocked Republican President Donald Trump's administration from following through on threats to cut off funding to public schools that engage in diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.
The trio of rulings - two by judges whom Trump appointed during his first term in office - came in lawsuits by teachers unions and civil rights groups that sued to prevent the U.S. Department of Education from cutting funding to K-12 schools and universities that did not cease what it called "discriminatory" DEI initiatives.

And more executive order nonsense slapped back...
"A federal judge in California issued an injunction Thursday blocking President Donald Trump's efforts to halt federal funds from going to several cities and counties considered sanctuary jurisdictions.
“The challenged sections in the 2025 Executive Orders and the Bondi Directive that order executive agencies to withhold, freeze, or condition federal funding apportioned to localities by Congress, violate the Constitution’s separation of powers principles and the Spending Clause,” U.S. District Judge William Orrick said in his ruling.
They also violate the Fifth Amendment to the extent they are unconstitutionally vague and violate due process,” while Trump's orders "violate the Tenth Amendment because they impose coercive condition intended to commandeer local officials into enforcing federal immigration practices and law."
Orrick blocked a similar effort by Trump during his first term in office, finding that his executive order was "unconstitutional" and that the plaintiffs "faced irreparable harm absent an injunction."
"Here we are again," he wrote.
The Justice Department appealed Orrick's earlier decision in 2017; the appeals court upheld his ruling.

Finally! Been yearning for more salmonella...
"The Agriculture Department will not require poultry companies to limit salmonella bacteria in their products, halting a Biden Administration effort to prevent food poisoning from contaminated meat.
The department on Thursday said it was withdrawing a rule proposed in August after three years of development. Officials with the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service cited feedback from more than 7,000 public comments and said they would “evaluate whether it should update” current salmonella regulations.
The rule would have required poultry companies to keep levels of salmonella bacteria under a certain threshold and test for the presence of six strains most associated with illness, including three found in turkey and three in chicken. If the levels exceeded the standard or any of those strains were found, the poultry couldn’t be sold and would be subject to recall, the proposal had said."

It started out: Anybody but Hillary. They are only about 25% of our population. And when you figure in how many people sat out this election entirely, they are severely outnumbered. That's a lot to overcome. With each day it only gets more difficult.
Historically, about 55% to 65% of the voting-age population in the U.S. turns out for presidential elections, depending on the year. Here’s a quick look at turnout rates in recent presidential elections:
2024 Around 64.1%
2020: Around 66.8% — the highest since 1900.
2016: About 60.1%
2012: Around 58.6%
2008: Roughly 61.6%
2004: About 60.1%
In the 2024 U.S. presidential election, voter turnout was approximately 64.1% of the voting-age population, with around 155 million ballots cast.
Population Education
Donald Trump received 77,302,580 votes, while Kamala Harris garnered 75,017,613 votes. In the 2020 U.S. presidential election, Joe Biden received approximately 81,283,501 votes, the highest votes received in our History. Coming in second to Biden--Trump holds the record.
Here are Barack Obama’s popular vote totals from his two presidential elections:
2008: Obama received 69,498,516 votes (about 52.9% of the total vote), defeating John McCain.
2012: Obama received 65,915,795 votes (about 51.1% of the total vote), defeating Mitt Romney.
So is it really fair to say Americans were apathetic and stayed home? Sure, people always sit out elections—but shouldn’t we also look at the historical data? When I do, I see something very different: over the past decade, more citizens have actually been turning out to vote, not fewer.
It would be great if more citizens took voting seriously—it's definitely something worth being concerned about.
Congressional Dems’ support from young Americans hits new low with just 23% approval rating: poll
WASHINGTON — House and Senate Democrats are at a low ebb among Americans under 30, with just 23% approving of party lawmakers in the wake of President Trump’s return to the White House.
A Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics survey released Wednesday found that even as Trump’s approval rating among young Americans remains stable, Democrats’ favorability numbers have plummeted 25 percentage points since fall 2020 — to just 23% from the relatively dizzying heights of 48%.
https://nypost.com/2025/04/23/us-news/c … ting-poll/
That doesn't erase his plummeting approval numbers overall...
https://ground.news/article/few-think-t … poll-finds
Ground news posts articles from a variety of media and acknowledges their bias.
Yes, Trump's polls remain in the same range they have been in for many years now. And he won two elections with low-scoring polls--- go figure, or just figure that the media skewed the polls, and still are.
So low polls for Trump means success, everyone loves him but when Biden's diminishing polls were posted, they were touted as his demise. Got it. Up Is down and down is up in Trump World
Up is not down in President Trump's world. Good heavens! The man who is most hated and most disliked is now up! Cupuna's brideproom? Of course, yes.
I was simply pointing out a fact — he has never had what one could call strong polling numbers. Looking at a chart, you can see that for over nine years he has fluctuated between 40% and 45%. He factually won two elections with those low poll numbers, so I'm just not sure polls are a reliable variable to consider. I realize Trump's polls are something the media is currently drumming on, but if you check the stats, Trump has always had polls that were not very good. Common sense should play a role here — his polls have been low from the start. If I were a Democrat, I would be much more concerned about the party’s very low polling. I believe they are currently at a historic low.
Regarding Biden's polls, he enjoyed a wide range, many were very good. His poll numbers fell after his debate. But all and all, he had decent polls.
A Democrat will not like anything about President Trump.
We can only hope the Democrats stay on the path they're currently on. I mean, one would think they would've "woken" up (pun intended) to how foolish they've become. Just look at their actions—from the lawfare against Trump, to supporting criminals, to backing terrorists in the Middle East. Yikes, do I need to say more?
It feels like they keep repeating the same message over and over, trying to make everyone hate this person. But the more they do it, the more people start to see through it and recognize the craziness behind it. It’s like they're not realizing that many have caught on to their tactics.
No one supports terrorists or criminals. Maga likes to frame the issue that way but it certainly doesn't make it the truth and most people can recognize that.
It would appear by the polls that Democrats are very much distancing themselves from the far-left ideologies. But the party itself seems to be flagrantly pushing forward with all the craziness. Examples include the AOC and Bernie movement.
The media is calling Trump’s polls “plummeting,” but honestly, I just call it business as usual. Anyone interested in stats can easily find them — the charts make it clear his approval ratings have stayed pretty consistent over time. I’m not here to pop anyone’s bubble, though.
President's Highest polls ever!
Early 2017 — right after his inauguration, he briefly touched around 45–46% according to Gallup and Rasmussen.
Early 2020 — right before COVID-19 fully hit (around February), Gallup actually measured him at 49%, his personal best during his presidency.
It’s honestly pretty silly how the left-leaning media is suddenly beating the tired old drum about Trump’s approval ratings again. Let’s be real — Trump has never enjoyed sky-high approval numbers. Throughout his political career, he’s consistently hovered between 40% and 45% as a rule. Going up during COVID 19 to his high of 49%. WEEEE
So, the polls this week are nothing new. It just feels like this week, since the media's usual attacks aren’t sticking, they’re trying to recycle a bit. They're using the "Trump has bad polls" narrative to feed those who need something—anything—to cling to. But here’s the thing: Trump won the election with the second-highest votes ever and pretty much the same approval rating we’re seeing now. It’s like they forget history when it’s convenient.
All this media-driven fodder — when will the media and the left realize they've thrown everything they can at this man, and nothing sticks? In fact, it’s backfiring on them. The Democratic Party is now sitting at some of its lowest approval ratings in history. Should we dive into those polls? Maybe not — who even cares anymore? So let's have a look see at some other Pew polls. Not pretty... https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/20 … hatgpt.com
https://nypost.com/2025/04/23/us-news/c … ting-poll/
The latest Pew Research Center poll found Trump’s approval rating down to 40%. It also found him underwater on every major policy area...
The latest Fox News poll showed Trump with a 44% approval rating — down 5 points from March — and he’s underwater on nearly every issue. On the economy, his support is down to 38%, while on tariffs and inflation, the president’s support is down to 33%....
I just shared my perspective, and I think it adds important context to where I'm coming from. I’ll also point out that during the election, Fox consistently showed Trump polling higher, portraying him as a strong competitor against Harris, unlike some other pollsters. And go figure — he won.
I have nothing more to add on the subject — I shared my thoughts clearly. I simply offered the other side of the coin — a little food for thought for others to consider.
So we've got a war brewing between India and Pakistan over Kashmir... Trump's going to prevent it right?
Trump claims that the fighting between India and Pakistan over Kashmir started 1000 years ago.
It started in 1947.
Since MAGA blamed Biden for Israel and Palestine, then it’s only fair that we call this “Trump’s war.” right?
Especially since we all know if this was happening under Biden, MAGA would blame him... And harris? We all know that if she were president right now this wouldn't be happening at all, right?
I cannot spare this man, he fights....

Buggers. Your animal shelter idea prompted a thought that quickly became uncomfortable.
It brought a chuckle that turned to a worry; "Why would I think that?"
As a pet lover, the thought wasn't a positive one, so why would it pop to mind? Sorry Cred.
GA ;-)
Around these parts animal shelters always need help... they even upped their pay to $15 an hour... to do volunteer work...
Hmmm... think I'm going to take up my own advice, see if I can't sneak in a day to help out per week.
Sitting in the sun and thinking about past pets is almost as good. A dog has been a part of my life (and my kids) since forever.
The 'worrying thought' about Cred (relative to your animal shelter advice) came right after the chuckle; "How would he feel about pets? What kind of pets would he have? Most folks choose pets based on attributes.
All I could come up with for him — after minutes of consideration — was a platypus.:

Chill folks. It's a joke. Cred's a girded warrior, he can take it. ;-)

We own a dog and a cat. The pet thing is something belonging to my spouse
I Never had the luxury or time for such a thing. But, if I did own one, it would be a Black Panther.

Be wary, wary quiet, I am hunting rightwingers……
LOL Hopefully you will have better luck.
ps. You might 'own' a dog, but the cat owns you.
GA
That got a chuckle...
Reminded me of that movie blackkklansman... Spike Lee movie no less... I know it was supposed to be a drama but damned if some of it wasn't hysterical.
I don't know about there, but the one in my city puts you through training and taking a test to volunteer. Volunteering may mean walking a pet and assessing it or it could mean cleaning the kennels. I hope to do it sometime this summer.
So, what is confirmation bias?
“the tendency to interpret new evidence as confirmation of one's existing beliefs or theories.”
Well, is that in error, using evidence, not conjecture, to support what I have always known and believe true about conservatives and the Right? You can try to spin this like a top, but this initiative has been confirmed by multiple media sources, not just MSNBC. So we can dispense with the “liberal bias” stuff.
I cannot be deflected or misdirected, this is war against Trump and the right in advocating such ideas against me and mine.
In these affairs and matters, Trump is the 21st century version of Woodrow Wilson, regressive and taking us back to a time before time, at least reflecting an era before I got here. At least, Wilson will go down in history as being an exemplary President in other aspects of his administration, Trump does not even have that.
If there is poison, your folks are dishing it out, cyanide laced Kool Aid, mixed with so much hemlock. You all want me to drink it and tell me at the same time that I need to support the people serving it?
This fellow wants to eradicate our participation in American history, next it will be US ourselves, just give him time. Consequently, yes, he can expect to receive nothing from me.
Whhhooowwww...
Woodrow Wilson... phew.... man...
Oh yes indeed we are living on the same planet... but we damned sure aren't living in the same world.
Woodrow Wilson????????
Woodrow Wilson legacy tainted by racism, attacks on Constitution
Unrestrained government and hounding of critics are the legacies of his 'progressive' politics
"Wilson’s war gave birth to a larger and larger role for government and regimentation. With the passage of the Espionage Act in 1917 and the Sedition Act a year later, Wilson had the power to ban dissent and shut up his critics. More than a hundred journalists including, most famously, socialist leader Eugene Debs, were indicted, tried and convicted for what they said and wrote rather than for anything they did. Even Mitchell Palmer, Wilson’s attorney general, who is remembered mainly for the Palmer raids launched as part of the “Red Scare,” felt after the war ended that his boss had gone too far. He went to the president and urged him to pardon Debs and the others lest history condemn him for his actions. Mr. Wilson tore up the pardon request, declaring, “This man was a traitor and he will never be pardoned during my administration.”

Sounds a lot like Trump in 2025…. The same kind of “stuff”.
I think you are a bit confused.
President Donald Trump is shrinking government.
If anything, President Donald Trump has been very open with the press. He's held many press conferences and talks openly with the press on a daily basis.
This is not the case with democrats. Particularly a former president knowns as obama.
“President Obama has been unprecedented in his use of the Espionage Act to prosecute those whose whistleblowing he wants to curtail. The purpose of an Espionage Act prosecution, however, is not to punish a person for spying for the enemy, selling secrets for personal gain, or trying to undermine our way of life. It is to ruin the whistleblower personally, professionally and financially. It is meant to send a message to anybody else considering speaking truth to power: challenge us and we will destroy you.”
Obama’s administration waged a robust campaign to harass and intimidate journalists, even mainstream journalists, who utilized leaked material. In May 2013, the Justice Department seized the records of phone lines that Associated Press employees used. AP confirmed that the records were from personal home and cell phones of reporters and editors, as well as phones that AP used in the press quarters of the House of Representatives. The administration’s contempt for the basic requirements of due process was alarming. As CBS reporter Sharyl Attkisson noted, such a seizure was “unheard of.” Beyond the abusive display of power that those raids embodied, she was outraged that no advance notice was given to the AP about the subpoena. “Advance notice would have given AP the chance to challenge the move in court.” Of course, that predictable response likely was the reason the Justice Department did not follow such a procedure."

No, we are not in the same world, Ken
When Trump attacks me and our history like this, how would anyone expect me to give him the time of day.. but, at least you can understand why….
Multiple polls have come out in recent days showing Trump with the lowest 100-day approval rating of any president in 80 years.
Trump’s response: investigate the pollsters!
If you don’t like the facts, sue the facts.
To use his own words.. this man is a deranged lunatic
A Bold Agenda to Reclaim America---tariffs
For the past 35 years, American leaders have been talking about how unfair our trade deals are. Reagan, Clinton, Bush, Obama, they all pointed out the trade imbalances, China’s currency manipulation, and how American jobs were getting shipped overseas. But what did they actually do about it? Zip. Nada. All those speeches about "fair trade" were just that, talk. They kept the system as is, letting the trade deficits grow and grow, and American workers got left behind. No one really took action, even though the problems were as clear as day.
Then came Donald Trump. The guy made his whole campaign about fixing this broken system, promising to bring back jobs and redo the trade deals that had screwed America over for years. And, surprise, it worked. He won, second-highest votes in U.S. history, by the way, proving that a lot of Americans were tired of the same old excuses and were ready for a change. Trump wasn't just talking; he was promising to fight for the American worker, something no one else seemed willing to do for decades.
So, Trump gets into office and starts throwing tariffs around like they're candy, especially with China. Sure, prices went up, and people grumbled. But let’s be honest here: we knew the trade wars wouldn’t be pretty. You can’t fix a broken system without a little mess. Some people didn’t get it, they just wanted cheap stuff. But for others, it was a small price to pay to give American companies a fighting chance again.
Still, there's this divide. A lot of people get it, fair trade isn’t going to be easy or cheap in the short term, but it’s necessary. Then there’s the other side, the ones who seem perfectly content with the status quo. They don’t mind that China, or whoever, takes advantage of us in the global market. Why? Because they like the cheap stuff and the easy ride. But let's not kid ourselves, this isn't sustainable. Keeping things as they are just lets the same old power players walk all over us. So, yeah, some people are cool with just letting China and other countries take the lead. But there are others who want real change, and, frankly, the fight for fair trade is a battle that’s worth having, even if it means a few bumps along the way. Some of us want this fixed, some just don't.

Trump dismisses scientists from National Climate Assessment
The Trump administration has dismissed all of the scientists working on the sixth National Climate Assessment — a major congressionally mandated climate report that details the way the changing climate impacts the U.S.
Scientists who were working on the assessment received an email Monday saying, “we are now releasing all current assessment participants from their roles.”
“The scope of the [National Climate Assessment] is currently being reevaluated,” the email, shared with The Hill on Tuesday, said. “As plans develop for the assessment, there may be future opportunities to contribute or engage.”
Rachel Cleetus, one of the experts who was working on the National Climate Assessment, told The Hill that more than 400 people had been working as volunteers on the national assessment until they received the email Monday.
She noted that the report, which is mandated by Congress under the Global Change Research Act of 1990, provides a U.S.-specific assessment that can help communities prepare for climate change.
“The reason this report is so important is because it’s particularly tailored to what we as a nation and the United States need, and so it is providing information about climate impacts at a local and regional level, so that it’s actionable for people,” Cleetus said.
I think this should be post as a new thread. Trump, they say don't like science? While I can wait for the update.
