Good morning and Happy Monday to everyone who agrees that, with Americans struggling to buy groceries because of trump's tariffs, it is obscene for him to be posting videos flaunting his gold Oval Office decor.

    "Let them eat gilded cake."

This needs to be repeated often along with his words yesterday saying he is going to do just that.

"Donald Trump has stated that one of the biggest threats America faces is “the enemy from within.” He has said that as president, he would use our military to go after those who don’t support him.

Use the American military to go after American citizens? Let that sink in."

On Tuesday, Trump said this to an auditorium of Generals and Admirals that "“Last month, I signed an executive order to provide training for quick reaction force that can help quell civil disturbances. This is gonna be a big thing for the people in this room, because it’s the enemy from within and we have to handle it before it gets out of control.”"

Pure Hitler speak (or Kim Jung Un or Maduro or Hussein or Putin or Pick Your Depot that Trump admires).

During Trump's first term, I bought a book Titled How Fascism Works.  This morning, I read the epilogue. What I learned is that Fascism works best when there is an Us and Them mentality created and by using radical ideas that overtime become normalized.

Once those become normalized then new us and them ideas are added until the population either accepts them or they become saturated and just ignore them,

That's what Trump did in his first term and now he is becoming even more Fascist with deploying Troops to democratic cities for training purposes. He now expects the population to accept this as being normal. Stay tuned I think this is just the beginning, Indifference is much worse than having an opinion. That's what happened in Nazi Germany,

This lying and disgusting message is in red and posted on the SBA web site. Another example of Republicans lawlessness.

{i}"Senate Democrats voted to block a clean federal funding bill (H.R. 5371), leading to a government shutdown that is preventing the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) from serving America’s 36 million small businesses.

Every day that Senate Democrats continue to oppose a clean funding bill, they are stopping an estimated 320 small businesses from accessing $170 million in SBA-guaranteed funding.

As a result of the shutdown, we wanted to notify you that many of our services supporting small businesses are currently unavailable. The agency is executing its Lapse Plan and as soon as the shutdown is over, we are prepared to immediately return to the record-breaking services we were providing under the leadership of the Trump Administration."[/i]

Going to be a lot of investigating and guilty verdicts when honest Democrats are put back in charge.

Trump doesn't care what real Americans think. Only unpatriotic people who have American citizenship and live on American soil believe what he is doing is right.

The public is now broadly opposed
The first thing to note is that Americans seem to oppose Trump’s use of the Guard by sightly widening margins.

A CBS News-YouGov poll this weekend showed they opposed Trump’s decision to deploy the Guard to US cities, 58%-42%. A recent Quinnipiac University poll showed they disapproved of Trump’s use of the Guard and federal law enforcement to reduce crime, 55%-42%. And NPR-Ipsos polling in recent weeks showed fewer than 4 in 10 Americans supported Trump’s decisions to deploy the Guard to Washington, DC, and Memphis, Tennessee.

These numbers are significant because early polling suggested Americans were more evenly split on Trump’s initial deployment of the military to Los Angeles over the summer.

Those early polls also suggested Americans were broadly open to the concept of using the Guard to help police combat crime, at least as long as local officials didn’t object. (An August AP-NORC poll showed Americans said 55%-37% that it was acceptable for the military and National Guard to support local police.)

But the new data suggest Americans are now broadly opposed to using the Guard at all, irrespective of local input.

I have a question for Trumpers. Please tell me the specific time when America was Great? I'm reading a book about  how fascism works. It's not about being a NAZI or an Italian fascists.  It is a construct that first divides countries and people into us and them and for the them, it starts to dehumanize them.. Trump did this in his first term with MAGA. It created the us and them division. Then he called the real news the fake news so that he could dehumanize the free press. His rallies are nothing more than a way of dehumanizing the other side (The Them} Then he stuffed the legal system with his own people.

Now we are at the point where all his efforts are coming to fruition. It was subtle in his first term and insidious, but now it is out in the open. He is basically untouchable. He stacked the courts and is going after his enemies to put them away for good.

He is removing democratic federal employees from their jobs. However, he wants Air Traffic Controllers to work without pay.  It's just a matter of time and that sh*t show will come to an end. There will be delays and accidents and uprisings if people can't use air transportation.

He has weaponized tariffs against countries that he thinks are ripping him off and he wants to bring back manufacturing to Make America Great Again.  The problem is the manufacturing that he envisions  was somewhere in the 50's and 60's. Not in the 21st Century with AI improving by leaps and bounds and robots taking the place of huge lines of assembly line workers.  He is even funding coal plants.

Right now he is federalizing national guard troops to quell pretend uprisings that are in his mind. And then he will give himself credit for keeping the peace. This is all part of the fascist movement. I don't know where it ends, but more than likely, there will be a huge flow of money going to the super rich friends as he destroys our democratic republic.

ICE is removing immigrants whole sale.  They operate on Stephen Miller's quota. There are no court proceedings. It is just expedited deportation so that ICE can meet their quota. I'm not going into the details of how it is handled. Everybody has seen what happens in the media..

My Esotericposted 7 weeks agoin reply to this

Along the same lines I am reading another book that describes the mechanisms authoritarians use to create what you described above. It can be boiled down to two words: LIES and METAPHORS, of which Trump is a master.

The author links to other research I did on how people (simplified version) unconsciously "turn-off" their ability to critically think about certain things. They literally take a lie (I won the 2020 election) or metaphor (Mexicans are scum) as input, bypass the "thinking part" of the frontal cortex and goes straight to the "emotion" part thereby become "hard-wired", as it were, to believing the Lie as Truth.

(Or as ChatGPT would more accurately put it - "The author links to research on motivated reasoning: when a claim is emotionally and identity-charged—say, a false election claim or a dehumanizing metaphor—fast, affect-driven processing can override slower, reflective analysis. Repetition and in-group cues then reinforce the belief, making it feel true even when it isn’t.")

And that is exactly how Trump is accomplishing the demolition of American democracy to create an authoritarian state.

We see examples ot that process in these various forums that try to present the truth about Trump where the pro-Trumpers take the Trump lies and metaphors, believe them, and then try to justify them even though deep down, their rational mind knows them to be false.

It has been so long since I saw/heard a politician speak anything but emotionally laden catch phrases that I can't remember it at all.

It is the modern way to ignore facts or truth, to discourage or even allow people to make decisions themselves - instead the entire thrust of political speech is to raise emotions, particularly hate.

And the left is a master at that, just as is the right.  Neither is interested at all in truth, only in convincing us that their particular lies are true.  Trump certainly does not have a lock on that particular form of political garbage.

Here is another fascist idealism that Trump is systematically removing, He calls it American Exceptionalism. He is erasing any history of slavery from the museums and memorials'  including the Smithsonian Institute. He wants America to be defined by his vision and definition of what it is.. He wants to Make America Great Again without the history of slavery. I don't think he has thought about the Native Americans yet.

"President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed he has secured “$17 trillion” in investment this year – or even more than that.

“We have over $17 trillion being invested now in the United States,” Trump told reporters at the White House on Tuesday. He added moments later, “We have more than $17 trillion in eight months.” On Friday, he said he thought the figure had “just cracked $18 trillion.”

But even the $17 trillion figure is fictional.
      But not in MAUGA world

Trump’s own White House website values the “major investment announcements” this term at “$8.8 trillion,” around half the “$17 trillion” and “$18 trillion” numbers Trump used out loud this week. And an item-by-item CNN review of the top 10 items on the White House’s list shows that even the “$8.8 trillion” number is itself a big exaggeration."

Interesting to see all this math on how much Trump has brought in investments to our nation, which is more like  2.3 trillion in his first 9 months. I did some checking, and this amount is beyond historic. He achieved it in just the first 9 months of his second term. It really makes you wonder what previous presidents were able to achieve in comparison. Did some checking...

No president comes close in documented terms. Even highly investment-focused administrations like Obama or Biden saw annual FDI peaks in the $400–500 billion range, adding up to perhaps $1.5–$2 trillion across a full term.

So, I’m not sure why anyone would focus on this issue; it seems like a pretty weak point. A little checking shows that Trump has already brought in a historic amount of investment in just his first few months. I can’t even imagine what that number will be by the end of his term; it’s bound to be astronomical. Makes you wonder why some people can’t see the forest for the trees.   Once again, we see example words above deeds --- LOL

AI ---   Let’s total the confirmed investment figures from Trump’s second term only, based on the published numbers in the White House “Trump Effect” list:

        Company / Project    Investment (USD)
        AstraZeneca    $50 billion
        Apple    $600 billion
Project Stargate (SoftBank, OpenAI, Oracle)    $500 billion
        NVIDIA    $500 billion
        Micron Technology    $200 billion
        IBM    $150 billion
        TSMC    $100 billion
        Johnson & Johnson    $55 billion
        Roche    $50 billion
        Bristol Myers Squibb    $40 billion
        Eli Lilly    $27 billion
        Hyundai    $25 billion (mid-range estimate)
Amazon    $34 billion (sum of cited projects)
        Total    ≈ $2.33 trillion

        ✅ Fact summary:
From publicly documented and White House-verified announcements under Trump’s second term, the total comes to about $2.3 trillion in confirmed investment pledges.

        This number excludes:

Vague or future “pledges” without stated amounts,

Projects already underway under prior administrations, and

Foreign government-level commitments not tied to U.S. companies.

So while Trump’s public claim of $17 trillion is not supported by evidence, roughly $2.3 trillion in named, documented corporate investment commitments can be traced directly to his second-term actions.

          1. So Trump lying about it doesn't bother you? (you were careful not to criticize as you would have Biden, just noted Trump had no evidence which is a nice step forward)

          2. That the historic $2.33 trillion came from you personally through paying higher prices along with millions of other Americans as well as significantly lower profits for companies that import stuff.

          3. Not a dime of that $2.33 trillion came from other nations.

Personally, I don't think putting what is in effect a $2.33 trillion tax on American people and businesses is a good thing.

That's a nice distraction. Look here, not there.  My post is about how Trump is a fascist, pure and simple. We all know he lies every chance he gets. It's called exaggeration, or as he calls it "Truthful Hyperbole." The point is Trumpers could care less. That is the very scary part. In difference is very dangerous and that is precisely what makes fascism work.

No problem — water under the bridge. I make it a point to follow this site’s rules and try to respect the subject of each thread. Clearly, many do not, which I chalk up to free speech. I also avoid threads where I feel I have nothing constructive to add to a civil conversation. What’s great about chats is that you can pick and choose where you want to participate and who you feel interested in conversing with. I have come to pick and choose carefully

I’ll admit, I’m not entirely sure which comment you’re referring to. Some threads have become so active and lengthy that it’s easy to miss comments directed at me. The ongoing posts take up multiple pages, which can make following conversations a bit tricky.

          What a fantastic opening paragraph:

"Armed federal agents intimidating people on the streets of great American cities. Public servants who lived up to their oaths of office losing their careers or being charged with crimes at the behest of a man convicted of numerous felonies. Hundreds of U.S. generals summoned to Marine headquarters in Virginia to hear what a former Fox News personality and a five-time draft dodger want to demand of them. (Hint: loyalty to them, not to the Constitution.)"

I am sure none of that was lost on those generals and admirals who don't have same authoritarian bent as Trump and Hegseth do.

Cred,   This is just my view of the article, and being a Republican, I’m offering a view that will likely differ from a far-left author. The title—“Armed federal agents intimidating people on the streets of great American cities…”—the article doesn’t back it up. It mentions federal deployments in Portland and Chicago but quickly shifts into opinion and broad political attacks. There’s no real evidence supporting the dramatic headline.

Honestly, this reads more like a hit piece than serious analysis. The author piles on emotional language and personal attacks on Trump, labeling him a “grifter” and “psychopath,” while twisting or dismissing legitimate policy actions. There are a few factual points. like federal deployments and SNAP work requirement changes, but most of the piece is speculation about MAGA supporters’ motives. As a Trump supporter, it’s frustrating to see real policies ignored and constant ad hominem attacks used as “analysis.” I’d take this article with a huge grain of salt.

Being anti Trump and anti this administration does not make the author a far left radical. There are moderates (not so much among Republicans as they are afraid of crossing) in each party that oppose Trump.

I am against Trump and his methods, so does that consign me to the far left?

It is just an opinion piece from the view of the Right, but accurately reflects my point of view.

Cred, I think you’re reading into my comment and attributing something I didn’t say. I never labeled this author as a far-left radical. I’ve read some of his articles and would describe his ideologies and style of writing as “far-left,” as I did here. I don’t see that as an insult; it’s just a label commonly used to describe someone’s political perspective, like AOC and her squad.

Honestly, I probably should’ve just asked, what parts of the article did you actually find factual? He threw out a lot of accusations.  Would sharing not promote conversation?

I don’t know that it is possible to present factual information as our ideological poles are so far apart, we both have our own legitimized sources for “facts”. It is truly rare when you or I can both have an objective observation or opinion that we can agree upon.
                ——
For example, Trump called Portland Oregon a war ravaged zone, here is what the officials the mayor and the Governor of Oregon says:

Local perspective: Portland city leaders and Oregon state officials have disputed the justification for deploying troops, stating that local law enforcement had the situation under control and that the federal presence was intended to provoke conflict. An OregonLive report on October 10, 2025, described the protests as having a shifted tone and humorously countering the administration's "apocalyptic" narrative of the city.

From that perspective, who am I going to believe? Trump who I believe has a political motivation for attacking Portland or the people and their representatives that actually live there? So whose facts are to be considered the most accurate?

Much like that scenario of Trump and Vance accusing Haitians in Ohio of eating their neighbors pets. Again, the mayor of that city and the Governor said that it was nonsense, who am I to believe? Do, i believe the people and the officials of the state that represent them, or do I believe Trump? Trumps assertion was preposterous on its face creating despair and fear within a law abiding community. So, again who am I to believe? Whose “facts” are more likely to be accurate?

I could bring up other points in the article and present much the same.

Cred,  I think it’s important to remember what was really happening before the planned troop deployment. These protests outside the Portland ICE facility were going on most of the summer; confrontations with officers, arrests, and property damage were happening night after night. That’s nightly violence is what sparked President Trump’s decision to send in National Guard troops. ICE is legally allowed to enforce federal immigration laws, including making arrests, at its facilities and in the field. By law, ICE agents can use reasonable or even lethal force to protect themselves or others from bodily harm. If the National Guard is sent in, they can also use reasonable or lethal force to defend ICE personnel and federal property, but they cannot make immigration arrests—their role is strictly protective.

The troops were blocked by the court. And remained blocked while Trump appeals. And honestly, I’m not even sure he would send in the Guard if he wins in court, due to the situation seems under control. The National Guard is there in Portland on stand-down orders.  Hopefully, they are not needed.

That said, local police working with ICE have been able to curb the violence, and with this increased law enforcement presence, the situation outside the federal ICE center is now under control. Peaceful protesters can show up daily, there are fewer arrests, and far fewer skirmishes. It’s disturbing to see the left now highlight only the peaceful protests, while ignoring the violence, arrests, and property damage that occurred just a month ago. In my view, that says a lot about their mindset. I wouldn’t be proud to be part of that kind of narrative myself.

You also have to remember the Summer of Love in 2020, where state representatives said much the same thing, yet 25 people were killed, and billions in property damage occurred over 90 days.. That history shows why the federal response was deemed necessary.

As for the unrelated “eating the pets” story, that was on them, and they ended up looking foolish.

I agree with what Trump is doing regarding sending troops to protect ICE as well as federal buildings.   I would have no problem if any governor asked for help dealing with crime in their cities.. However, due to the standing laws, a Governor would need to ask for assistance. Trump has made statements that he would help with crime in cities that need help.  "I want them to admit they have crime. I want them to say, 'We have a problem, could Trump bring in the troops and solve the problem?'— President Donald Trump, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One

Law-abiding citizens shouldn’t have to live with escalating violence while waiting for local authorities to manage it.  I am not putting much time into sources. If interested, one can find the early videos on YouTube of the  Portland riot back in September, early October, and compare them to the last few days of protests.  My memory is good, in Sep I saw them nightly being posted on YouTube, Facebook, and X.

They are not legally able to act as law enforcement in any manner.

LOL are you really making the argument that because there were some disruptive protests MONTHS AGO  on maybe a night or two in a half a block radius that this is an acceptable reaction by this regime? Absolutely not... The police for more than able to handle the situation and the governor did not request help.

"Immergut found the Trump administration’s argument unconvincing, saying incidents at the ICE facility “do not approach the level of disruption to federal functions.”

I am proud democrat and I am not a Hamas terrorist, illegal alien, or violent criminal.

I don't know one Hamas terrorist, illegal alien, or violent criminal in the Democrat Party.

But, I do know many MAGA who are racist lovers of an unhinged wanna be King with not one ounce of common sense.

Bullshit Barbie Karoline is another Trump deplorable....

This was a dumb thing to say and such statements will exacerbate the divide and make a future unpleasant confrontation inevitable.

And yet silence from the right winger on her incendiary language.  Makes it really hard to take these people seriously, as they really seem to stand for nothing.

Can't you see what is right in front of your eyes? That is obviously a peaceful protest in a park. ROFL.

Where are all the posters who  were just so deeply offended and appalled that anyone on "the left" would use the term Nazi or fascist toward MAGA and Trump followers???

Remember how all of you were telling us that this language incites violence?

Remember how your hair was on fire?

So deeply aggrieved?? So profoundly impacted?

"an October 2025 appearance on Fox News, Leavitt claimed that "the Democrat party's main constituency" is "made up of Hamas terrorists, illegal aliens, and violent criminals". She further alleged that Democrats are "catering" to these groups."

So bullshit Barbie is inciting violence also, right?

        Y'all aren't flip-flopping now are you??

They divide everything into MAGA and the democrats. Then they assign conspiracy theories to the democrats and repeat it until it becomes reality for MAGA's. These tactics are fascism at work. The irony is that Antifa means anti-fascist.

These people stand for no consistent principles whatsoever... Simply adoration and blind loyalty to one orange buffoon.  Whatever Trump and his band of miscreants says or does on any given day is absolutely wonderful... Until the next day when they have to turn their position on its head because dear leader changes his mind.  They happily fall in line though don't they

They were all over the Charlie Kirk thread with accusations that speech from Democrats was inciting violence.... And now that Leavitt uses the same language? They look away...

Their future leadership calls fellow citizens watermelon people and monkeys.. they ignore it. One of their wraps has a swastika hanging in his office.. that's a okay...

        Mike Johnson on No Kings:

"We refer to it by its more accurate description -- the Hate America Rally. You're gonna bring together the Marxists, the socialists, the antifa advocates, the anarchists, and the pro-Hamas wing of the far left Democrat Party. That is the modern Democratic Party. That's where they've gone. The Hate America Rally is the common theme among all those groups."

Where's the outrage for the incendiary language?? Where are my Pearl clutchers???
