How do you know when a guy wants more than a good time?
I think that it is pretty easy to tell if a guy is really interested by the way he treats you. If he does things special for you, if he takes the time to listen to you, to try to please you, to bring you around family and friends then he is interested. If he calls you late at night to come over, or will not take you out then he probably is just looking for a good time.
I think you begin by listening to what he says as well as what he doesn't say. Observes how he (treats) you. Does he show an interest in your day to day life or display any sincere "friend qualities". He will also ask you for your opinion on issues he dealing with. This shows he values your thought processes. After dating for about 3 months or less a guy who is serious about you will introduce you to people in his "inner circle". (best friends, co-workers, siblings, or parents). Another clue is he will talk of future (plans) such as weekend getaways, holiday, or upcoming birthday celebrations.
However when it's all said and done you can look him in the eye and ask him point blank. If he is evasive or offers answers without clarity it may be he is not where (you) want him to be at this time or it could mean he doesn't see you as possibly being "the one" for him. You have to trust your gut.
If you're not sure about it, by the way that he's treating you - talk to him about it. Don't get physical until you're sure where you stand, so you avoid possible regrets later. Also see if you can plan 'normal' dates and times to meet up with him, if he's keen on having a picnic lunch rather than a late night sleep over it might say something, but still clarify what he's looking for before you get too carried away with his charms
I should think it would be no different than knowing whether or not a lady wants more than a good time.
If he expects you to hop into bed with him straight away, that's what he's after. If you don't and he dumps you, that's what he was after. So just don't hop into bed with him until you really get to know him - if you're looking for a permanent relationship, be sure you know he shares your values and wants the same things as you do. If he really likes you, he'll wait. Be careful with your heart - don't bestow it too easily. It's far easier to get into a relationship than get out of one once you've developed feelings for the person.
